Whoever said college would be the best years of your life is a liar. Wth is this š
Okay Iām currently furious that migraines are often so blindly easy to treat and I had to find this out myself at the age of 26 when Iāve been to a neurologist since I was 11 lol so Iām about to teach you two neat and fast little tricks to deal with pain!
The first is the sternocleidomastoid muscle, or the SCM muscle.
This big red section is responsible for pain around the eye, cheekbone, and jaw, as well as some temple pain. Literally all you have to do is angle your head down a little, angle it away from the side that hurts, and then you can gently pinch and rub that muscle. I find it best to start at the bottom and travel upwards. The relief is so immediate! You can increase pressure as you feel comfortable doing so.
Here is a short and easy video showing this in action
The second is a fast and easy stretch that soothes your vagus nerve, which is the nerve responsible for calming you down. The vagus nerve, for those unfamiliar, is stimulated by deep breathing such as yawning, sighing, singing, or taking a deep breath to calm your anger in a tense situation.
You can stretch this out by sitting up as straight as possible (this does not have to be perfect to work) and interlacing your fingers. Put your hands on the back of your head with your thumbs going down the sides of your neck and, while keeping your face forward, look all the way to one side with just your eyes. Hold that until you feel the urge to breathe deeply or yawn, or until you can tell thereās a change. Then do the same thing on the other side. When you put your arms down, you should clearly be able to turn your head farther in both directions. If the first session doesnāt get rid of your migraine, rest and repeat as many times as necessary. I even get a little fancy with it and roll my eyes up and down along the outer edge sometimes to stretch as much as I can.
If you need a visual hereās a good video on it. I know some of the language they use seems questionable but this is real and simple science and should not be discarded because itās been adopted by the trendy wellness crowd!
I seriously cannot believe I didnāt hear a word of this from any doctor in my life. Additionally, if you get frequent recurring migraines, you may want to see a dietician. Migraines can be caused by foods containing histamines, lectin, etc. and can also be caused by high blood pressure in specific situations such as exercise, stress, and even sex.
If any of this information helps you Iād love to hear it btw! Itās so so fast and easy to do. Good luck!
we have no sign of how christ treated his betrayer on a daily basis, you know. we do know he was trusted with money, and that they had no idea it would be him. when it was said that one of their number would betray their lord, not one of them nodded sagely and said āi knew it, itās judas.ā not one of them.
how easy it would have been for him to put distance there, to just step away, to lessen the pain and the sting every time judas looked at him. but no. no, not christ. it was always, always, always love.
there is constant agony over the knowledge that jesus CHOSE him. a crowd, a following, all of israel to chose to be one of his closest friends, and jesus looked at the multitude and met the eyes of the one with a greedy heart and jealous mind and he said āthat one.ā he looked at his betrayer, the one who would commit the Sin of Sins, and he smiled and he said āfather, give him to me.ā
ālet him be mine.ā
āi choose death. i choose pain. i choose to let this one know my heart before he breaks it.ā
he could have been delivered up another way. someone else could have told the priests ā someone could have seen the group and known and ran to earn payment. someone who was unaffiliated, whom they wouldnāt have known and been so hurt by.
but no. no, jesus looked at him and loved him.
god made the job harder in no physical manner, only with love. and soĀ no one has ever, i think, broken the lordās heart so thoroughly as judas. because he let the serpent into the nest and made it comfortable, walked toward the hungry lion with welcoming arms.
in the end, it was also the story of us, betraying him who we had no reason to betray, and suffering the burden for it when we refused his grace. our redemption in the arms of him whom we worst offended. āwhile we were yet sinnersā
judas is the story of grace overflowing, cascading, washing over us all. jesus pulled him into dances, had inside jokes, sat next to him at meals, ruffled his hair in the mornings, winked at him during sermons. judas was no outcast ā he was in jesusā close circle, his family. jesus stayed up late sometimes with him and talked about stars while the other disciples slept around the fire. they had dialogue about old testament verses and their meaning, swapped stories of their childhoods, kissed each othersā mothers on the cheek. judas heard his sermons and likely had comments, questions, ideas, adorations. (because jesus chose to lead him but judas chose to follow) they were blood brothers, until judas shed jesusā blood, sold his brother for silver, did not listen when all the earth cried out. (all creation, all eternity building to this climax) (cain and abel) (joseph and judah) (yeshua and judas) (weāve heard this before, we know how it ends donāt we, god bring the plot twist or avert our eyes)
most powerful of all, when christ washed his feet. kneeling, wrapped in a towel, and silently, gently, lovingly he lifting the feet of his betrayer to intimately clean them.
āi knew it, it was judasā never came from any of their mouths, not even from the mouth of he who knew. instead he smiled, and the kiss was only expected. āi knew it, it was judasā āfather let him be mineā
āi choose judasā
Iāve been seeing a lot of anti-Nazi ones, which is great, but I felt like we needed one to show our support for the Jewish community. Ā
it literally drives me insane that so many companies refuse to send rejection emails like itās disgraceful tbh. you put so much time and effort into putting together an application and they canāt even be bothered tell you via some measly automated message that you didnāt get the job. youāre expected to just infer
What a dysfunctional squad.
Thank you for tagging me squiggly wormmmm <33

I hate the āThoreauās mom did his laundryā criticism so much, it drives me crazy.
Henry Thoreau did not go to Walden Pond because he thought it would be a fun adventure. He went into the woods because he was deeply depressed and burnt out. He was running from the horror of his brother and best friend recently dying in his arms, and the haunting memory of causing the Fairhaven Bay fire. His friend Ellery Channing literally gave him the ultimatum of either taking some time off to write and think, or else be institutionalized.
I think Thoreauās mother saw her depressed son choosing to retreat into a small cabin in the woods, and was worried about him. Of course she did his laundry - just as Ralph Waldo Emerson probably brought him firewood and bread. These were not chores of obligation to support a āgreatā man, but services of love to help their deeply depressed 28yo son and friend.
And if you ask me, thereās a lesson in that - to āsuck out the marrow of lifeā and ālive deliberately,ā one must also accept help offered from the people in your life who love you. There is no true transcendentalism or individualism without love and friendship behind it.
