The most disturbing thing in all of Severance was watching Gemma fight back, strike down the doctor, run from the nurse, fight to get free…. Only to transform into the timid Ms Casey who can be sent back to her undoing with only a polite smile and firm words from Mr Milchick. Gemma would have rushed him, kicked him, bit him, done anything to get past him. But Ms Casey can’t even finish a sentence before Mr Milchick interrupts her. She’s not even allowed to voice a thought. And she goes meekly back to a place she knows is bad, even if she can’t remember it.

mark s in season two fully going through it like: wakes up and helly is gone, has to yell through a speaker and at milchick to get helly back, helly comes back but she's hiding something, everyone keeps bringing up his alter ego's missing wife while he's trying to romance helly, success at making love to helly but plot twist it was her alter ego, helly is now really back but he couldn't tell her and helena apart and he now has feelings for the part of herself she hates so he's confused and takes it out on her, manages to admit he had sex with helena but now helly is hurt, he's at his wit's end at how to make it better he can describe-- oh okay he would like to demonstrate 100%. kisses her when she asks if it was different with her way to go man that was smooth helly is happy everything is fi-- wakes up and is told he's never gonna see helly again and is going to help kill her faster, his alter ego doesn't consider his feelings for helly real when atp he's entirely made of feelings for helly and ideas to make her happy, has to yell at his other self just to see helly again, helly is here he's holding her it's fine but they're both about to die and she's internalizing her hatred of her other self as self-hatred even as he tells her he only wants to live with her and he has to leave her to do a concussion-inducing mission for that wife he doesn't care about and never see helly again. no wonder he looked like a sleepwalker going towards her and gazed at her like he wanted to kiss her senseless imagine how tired he is
