one of my worst writing sins is abusing my power to create compound words. i cannot write the sentence "The sun shone as bright as honey that afternoon." no. that's boring. "The sun was honey-bright that afternoon" however? yes. that sentence is dope as fuck. i do not care if "honey-bright" is a word in the english dictionary. i do not care if the sentence is grammatically correct. i will not change. i will not correct my erred ways. the laws of the english language are mine.

We will occasionally hear information about Malleus’ sole blood relative, his grandmother.
We learn she has impressed upon him that barging in somewhere uninvited is the height of rudeness, taught him that humans often fear them, told him tales of the Scalding Sands (“But we haven’t heard much about the country since things became peaceful here”), and more.
Malleus mentions receiving cufflinks, cards and rose seeds for his birthday, saying that he cannot help but admire her thoughtfulness.
Malleus says that Lilia and his grandmother are the only people who ruffle his hair in a certain way.
He says “having siblings seems rather complicated” after discussing their families with Trey and Cater, but follows with, “one should treat their family with respect.”
Malleus also says his childhood was so long ago that he can barely remember any of it now.
In an extremely rare reference to his parents, Malleus wonders if they, his grandmother and Lilia toiled in the hopes of giving their descendants a happy, peaceful life.
Sebek says that while his grandfather has shared many tales of heroics about the Draconia family and Lilia, they never spoke much about Malleus’ mother Maleanor, or about how Malleus’ parents died:
“I've read many books to gain a greater understanding of Briar Valley and our ruler…but hardly any of them touched upon such topics.”
In Book 7 we learn that Maleanor was the princess of the Land of Briar 400 years ago (before it became Briar Valley).
Maleanor was his grandmother, Maleficia’s, only child and a key figure in the country’s defense, as commander of the royal guard.
Lilia describes Maleanor as so powerful that the rest of them combined would not stand a chance against her:
“She's also unruly, quick to start fights, selfish, and irascible...not to mention incredibly spiteful. Lady Maleanor is Briarland's most menacing figure.”
Lilia says she'd complain about food, refusing to eat jerky when they were children until Raverne stewed it for her:
“And of course she fawned over Raverne all the while, making passive-aggressive remarks like, ‘You're the only one I can depend on.’ ...maybe that's where the difference between him and me lies. And here I was the one to actually bring the food.”
"People who criticize svsss just sound like shen yuan" is wonderful but also did you know anyone who writes ooc fanfiction also just sounds like Luo binghe??
Some fanfic: Luo Binghe's perverted shizun can't hold his attraction back anymore and forces himself on his helpless young disciple!
Me: Binghe wrote this. *keeps scrolling down ao3*
Sir Knight… that's not...

The thing about the 'Ugliest King' title and All The Ensuing Conversations that occur as a result, is that it works in the wn because we, the readers, have Absolutely No Idea what Kim Dokja looks like. Yes, there's the picture on the description page of the cover, but wn readers are trained to ignore those. Cover art is guidance for a character but when most of the cast will never wind up being pictured, you draw your grasp of their appearance based on description in-book and how the other characters describe their looks.
Even without KDJ's famous soliloquy in JTTW about YJH's appearance, we know that he's handsome and fit. We know that HSY is pretty but most of the time she has her face pulled into exaggerated expressions that make you instantly forget that. We know what kind of clothes the characters wear, whether other people think they're attractive, and how they're perceived generally. So, what does the reader get told about Kim Dokja?
Kim Dokja describes himself as average. He used to take bathroom selfies, but he's not particularly good looking. And the book plays into that! He's assigned 'Ugliest King' and it's partly a joke but partly to tell us something. Kim Dokja isn't your stereotypical secretly-handsome MC. As the book unfolds, we learn that there's a reason why people think he's ugly, but even beyond that specific metatextual one, there's more. We learn that towards the end of the novel, he's become more tanned and healthy-looking. We're told that at the beginning of the novel, his skin was pasty from a lack of sunlight. He was skinny from a diet of what he could afford at the corner store. He likely had dark circles from staying up late. These are all things that help us to develop a picture of Kim Dokja as a person. Even beyond that, the question of whether Kim Dokja is actually ugly was a debate that I miss having, mostly because I think SS were trying to show that you don't need to be handsome to be loved.
There's a lot that I don't agree with the webtoon team on, and I won't go into that here, but I would argue that possibly the worst thing they did for ORV was make Kim Dokja look like every other secretly-handsome MC. How can the reader grapple with him being given the ugliest king title when they can plainly see in every chapter that he's been drawn with bishie sparkles in the horniest way possible? It breaks immersion and squanders the value of the discussion to be had by its inclusion in the novel.
Tldr; kdj should be drawn swagless assless and looking like a mess.
I think one of the most fascinating aspects of Joshua's character is that he was raised by a cult that worships him and it shows.
The game is very unsubtle in depicting the Undying as a cult, if a benign one whose goals are largely aligned with Clive's: the way it recruits from the disenfranchised dredges of society, the way it isolates it's members from the outside world, and associates devotion to their deity with worth as a person, even glorifying self sacrifice even past the point of reason- something Clive and Cyril butt heads on repeatedly.
And you can see the way that both being raised by them and being their messiah has impacted Joshua: the way Joshua feels that he can and should be able to do everything on his own (rebuffing Jote's efforts to help him even with small matters, avoiding Clive in order to 'protect' him), the way he's feels a right to order the lives of others around his own wishes (his meddling in the politics of each Kingdom, especially Sanbreque), even the subtle hint that he's given up on trying to persuade the Undying not to sacrifice their lives for his gain (and the even more subtle implication that he's maybe accepted that self sacrifice is a good thing, given his own self-sacrificial tendencies for Clive).
Their's this big gap after the reveal Joshua is alive where you wonder: how did he get from where he was Phoenix Gate (the shy innocent boy who wanted to do his duty more to make his brother proud then for it's own sake) to where he is at Drake's Spine (confident, mysterious, cold blooded in his pursuit of his goals), and the game answers that so effectively in the introduction of the Undying. This is where he learned it, this is what shaped him after everything fell apart and he went into hiding: a cult that all at once was trying to parent and worship and aid a 10 year old messiah whose only real desire was to save his brother from the monster that tore them apart.

you, are god. my god.
happy birthday prince of xianle, xie lian. 🌸👑
I think the resolution is a little bad because of some problem but i love this scene with my whole life
The Avengers 2012 era was the best time ever in the fandom
Thor loves pop tarts, Clint lived in the vents, Bruce and Tony did science together, Steve was the mom friend of the team and did art in his free time, Natasha was cool aunt of the team, Loki was there too and a bunch of other characters like Peter, Sam, Bucky, Vision and Wanda all lived in the Avengers tower together
It was a much simpler time where everyone in the fandom was chill and having fun together
