Trump passed an executive order called the "1776 Commission" which will ban schools from teaching about the slave trade. Under this order, teachers can be fined or jailed for teaching about it.

He claims it's "patriotic education" and that America was not founded on oppression but this is a fucking lie, it is a LIE. This is brainwashing, this is whitewashing, this is Nazi shit.

This. Is. Nazi shit.

There are 2 options now.

1. Congress manages to pass a bill in a 2/3 majority to override the order. I say 2/3 because we all know he's gonna veto it.

2. The Supreme Court declares the order unconstitutional. If a Supreme Court Justice is nominated before the election, this will almost certainly not happen.

Please please please I am begging you, spread awareness of this, call your senators, call your representatives, beg them to fight this, beg them to postpone a vote until after the election

My best friend has waited over several months for rent assistance that unfortunately has never come. They live in a state that is notorious for handling the pandemic poorly and now has a living/work opportunity in a different state but will need help getting there + settling in their new area.

They have been fundraising for 2 years now in an environment that has slowly become worse and worse in regards to general safety and cost of living / job opportunities and will have to leave before their housing ends on February 1st. They’re trying to raise 4k to cover the cost of travel, storing their possessions, and the initial few months there until they get fully established and can support themselves without outside help.
