Guadalupe Mts. NP is in Texas but the only vehicular access is via a lengthy drive into New Mexico & back down. Would you believe I once took a route through Roswell & was abducted by aliens? Didn’t think so 😁
A new bride from back east stayed only one night here because of its isolation
The Ship on the Desert, built to resemble a ship, became part of the national park where VIPs stayed. My Top of Texas Sierra Club service project hung out here annually working for the NPS
New Year’s resolution is to spend time with my guitars. I’d say “quality time” but that’s wishful thinking. Haven’t played in a while due to life events & broken fingers. No longer have that guitar. Prefer my Gretsch
I’ve belonged to the Sierra Club & other environmental organizations for 40+ years & led more than 70 week-long service projects & backpacking trips in national parks. You might say I’m a tree hugger! Or maybe a yucca & creosote hugger since most of my activities have been in the Texas Trans-Pecos 😀
Performed in an 8.5-acre man-made lake in front of the resort. The show uses 1,214 water nozzles and 4,792 lights. The fountains shoot as high as 460 feet
