this was almost a year ago - perfect time to tell you that I originally planned for making the other two as well (Viktor Junior and The Machine Herald, or what not) and already had all the potential headlines cut out and collected from the actual covers

now I don't know when will I draw again :3

it's a reference to a well-known series of Polish youth magazines "Victor Gimnazjalista" (Victor The Middle Schooler), that I made a very funny meme with more than a year ago > it's all there at the very bottom of the post

the thing is they had a Victor for every stage of education (Junior for primary school, Gimnazjalista for middle school, and the high school one was called Cogito); I thought it matches Viktor just right and also it would be fun to draw and edit an actual cover (it was a pain to draw and even more pain to edit) when it comes to headlines, I took the ideas directly from actual covers of said magazines; just went through a bunch and copy-pasted some lines to make an inspo board; you can also see it down there (it's hilarious and you have to trust me, because I'm not translating all that) vv

Craft update #3: The hand from start to finish

started: Aug 2022 finished: Dec 2022 status: falling apart

at first I taped my hand with masking tape to draw the segments directly on it and then trace them onto paper, but it didn't help much as they would end up not matching each other anyway - I got fed up with it very quick and just freehanded most of the parts

yes, at some point I tried sewing it onto a woolen glove (it was way too thick) - ended up sewing my own glove out of a stocking and used WHITE THREAD, because I didn't believe any of this could be done anyway

thought it will be impossible to glue the segments to the glove, because it had to be done when wearing it - the polyurethane glue reacts with the fabric, gets hot and melts it, so it would probably burn my skin and then stick to it forever

I managed to evade that with wearing a latex glove underneath, although I could still feel the heat; it then had to be cut out from the inside of the gauntlet somehow

I honestly thought I wouldn't be able to ever put it back on (thought it would all fall apart), but it's wearable, just takes some time to adjust it to fit and you're ready to pet the rat!

the sewing is definitely the weakest part - besides visible white thread there are holes on the sides that I can't keep up with repairing next thing is there's nothing on the inside of the hand, just the plain stocking, where I should probably put some thicker fabric elements I'm looking forward to make an improved version - I have a lot of ideas and some more cans, but nothing more so far

anyways, it still is the coolest thing I've ever made; maybe that's why I'm anxious about making a new one

Vi was done on my worst day (although the 'rivarly' one looks the worst), didn't even use a ref for her (sorry Vi fans, hope it's not that bad), but I tried to fixt it a bit later; the weird creature on the very left is from that chubby dog meme, but I didn't use a ref for it either

blue was obviously my best day - I'm not saying it's perfect, just that drawing finally didn't feel as unbelievably hard as with everything else I did before and it didn't take ages to make

'tell the council I sad fuck you' is a quote from some yt video I saw recently; the context was quite hilarious and it stuck in my head

[IMPORTANT] just wanted to say that I expected around 0 notes on my first Arctober post, but it getting much more than that really motivated me to keep trying, thanks a lot

Heimerdinger (Arcane) 3D model (Blender + Substance Painter)

this is my first time modeling and texturing a character - it was awful and I suffered a lot (will do it again)

mapping struggles, highpoly model and some work in progress pics:

I was allowed not to do the hair retopology (it was for an assignment), so I didn't and I loved every second of not having to do it

I basically cheated/let go of a lot of things (like sculpting the details and overall accuracy), because I had to hurry
