Valid. I’d also love sit Jorge down and ever so kindly ask him 100+ questions abt Epic. Like yes, yap to me about your massive 3 year long project please. Yap about the decisions you’ve made for Odysseus’ narrative. Tell me why you picked certain instruments for certain characters. Tell me why you removed certain characters and arcs like Lucothea and Nausica. Yap to me for hours on end about all of the cut songs you have stashed away, tell me what it was like writing for these 3 to 4 years. Tell me how many times you’ve had to check and double check the Odyssey and how intently it needed to be studied for this musical to happen.
Oh to be able to sit down with Jorge Rivera-Herrans and absolutely bombard him with so many questions about Epic. Guys I’m currently about to get my Ancient World Studies honours and double major in drama that’s really interested in literature, how receptions shape the public opinions about said literature, and how people go about making these decisions this like my thing and I love Epic SO MUCH. You don’t understand how much this MEANS TO ME
To all of you who are able to see The Return today, have fun. I hope you all enjoy the movie, and that Odysseus’ return to the big screen does not disappoint.
Y’all the palladium heist is in the little iliad right? Yeah, where can I read about that? Let me in on the huge fandom consensus. Odysseus stabbed diomedes? Why? AND THEY BANTER??? WHERE IS THIS FROM???
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-
Another thought on Epic the Musical, do you want to know one detail that kills me every time?
If you look at the titles of the songs, the ONLY songs that are named after characters are songs that are named after monsters that are trying to slaughter as many people as possible (like Polyphemus, Scylla, and Charybdis). No human character or even any god gets a song named after them, only the monsters do.
But (MINOR SPOILER AHEAD), do you know what song 38 is titled? Odysseus.
Odysseus, the man made monster, who has become something so far from his own humanity that he is counted within the ranks of the terrible monsters that came earlier in the story. Odysseus, who will absolutely be trying to slaughter as many suitors as possible when he returns to Ithaca.
It's such a small detail, but it gets me every time I think about it! Because not only has Odysseus become a monster in the eyes of the other characters, but he has become one in the eyes of THE VERY MUSICAL ITSELF!
AHHHHHHHHH!!!
“Watch where the birds fly, they will lead us to land, there we’ll hunt for food my second in command”
Says that tactful and guileful man, gentle, royal, rugged, Odysseus, MASTER MARINER, and King of Ithaca.
Ody…my guy…
The birds will lead you to food.
Seagulls gather in flocks above water when there are fish near the surface.
FISH YOU CAN EAT.
BUDDY.
RAMSHACKLE A FISHING ROD. FOOD IS RIGHT THERE. USE SPEARS IF SO DESIRED.
I adore Odysseus, but I’m losing it actively, I do believe.
So I cackled the new clip of jorge’s cut song that’s about achilles facing off against hector and this line is so abysmal it wraps back around to perfection and I just… I just had to make this
Hey, hello! I Purity Amira and I am really sorry for sending this, I just hope I’m not overstepping any boundaries as I’m about to ask help which is very important right now. Our cat Sleepy requires an urgent medical attention from the veterinarian. She is experiencing pain and I don’t have the money to take her to the vet to help her. so, I am asking for help from any well-wisher. Even if you can’t spare some money to help, reposting the link would be of great help. She helps me in taking care of my daughter since they are best friend and she is my only close relation with mom since my mom died last year 2021. If you would be interested to help, I have Pinned the post on my blog, please you can try reply to the ask privately as well because some people like getting creepy over this matter. We are alright, pray for us, please. ♥️🙏
Unfortunately I am very broke, but I will keep your cat in prayer
This question will be another outlier from the cabinet because I can do whatever I want forever.
Genshin friends I require assistance.
So, I have discovered (mainly through ABD illustrates, shoutout to him) that many genshin impact characters have some sort of specific design motif for their region. Some examples include Liyue characters having tassels, Sumeru characters having gold or gemstones in their designs, or Fontaine characters having a bow.
I’ve been trying to look at the different designs of the Natlan characters specifically, and whenever I think I’ve found the motif, a new character drops that breaks that trend. For example, I thought that every Natlan character would have some sort of braid in their hair, but this was disproven with Ororon and Mavuika.
Has anyone found Natlan’s design trend?
GUYS THIS IS SO PRETTY SOMEONE SHOW JORGE AND TROY!!!
✨️ Hermes Saga Cover ✨️
@epicthemusicalstuff
(The background is from the original "Vengeance Saga" cover made by Zwist)
I saw Jorge posted this "Hermes Saga Part 2" and I decided to do a more elaborate cover yey
ANDDDD AGAIN, the speedpaint (just the end. I forgot to record the beginning when I was doing the staff)
Current lineup for favorite Ithaca Saga songs follows in this order if anyone wants to hear my opinion (if not that’s ok too)
Also spoilers technically⚠️
1. The Challenge - it’s just good. I have no comments, Penelope slays.
2. Odysseus - The suitor slaughter was done very well. It properly encapsulated how 100% done Odysseus is
3. Would You Fall In Love With Me Again - I sobbed hysterically. Need I say more.
4. I Can’t Help But Wonder - sobbed the first time. It’s a beautiful moment between father and son, and hey, welcome back, Athena.
5. Hold Them Down - Ayron slayed with that song but it’s really REALLY dark (which is good they didn’t stray away from the source material)
Please note I loved every song, it’s just that some of these will be out on endless repeat more than others.
Tomorrow, Odysseus will be home.
Greek mythos brainrot is so bad that Odysseus king of Ithaka can grow mushrooms using my neurons
