Everytime I wish to put further emphasis on Odysseus, I make it my business to list every title and epithet Homer has given this man.
So I’ll be having a normal conversation and then I’ll drop “That tactful and guileful man, rugged, chestnut haired, broad shouldered, lying, gentle, royal Odysseus, son of Laertes, husband of Penelope, father of Telemachus, sacker of cities, sacker of Troy, King of Ithaka”.
I then realize I was so busy remembering every epithet that I no longer remember where the conversation was going.
So I’m re-watching Gigi’s animated snippets of Hermes in God Games, and hearing so many of his laughs consecutively made me realize that his laugh in Dangerous sounds…off. I had to pull up Dangerous and Wouldn’t You Like just to do a double take.
At first I thought it sounds different because his laugh doesn’t escalate in pitch, but when he laughs in Dangerous, it’s not even that. It doesn’t sound like a real laugh. Jorge is super particular about direction and the choices he and the actors make in the final song cuts, so I’m curious if Hermes’ laugh in Dangerous was also a specific take.
My next question then is *why*? Why does he sound so off?
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR LEGENDS ARCEUS AND THE INDIGO DISC
⚠️⚠️⚠️
Ok. It's confirmed by the indigo dial dlc that if you bring out Ogrepon when fighting Kieran, his AI will change and he gets special dialogue
So what if you could do that with nicknames?
What if in legends arceus, you named a pokemon after Emmet (or even use his Japanese name, Kudari), and Ingo has special dialogue about that name specifically. Like it triggers something in his fragmented mind that makes him remember more. What if you name a pokemon after him? What reaction would he have?
Or even for legends ZA if Emmet makes an appearance? Like, he hasn't seen his brother in....we don't know how long, at minimum over a year, and then we pull up and name something after his brother. It would be so interesting if he had some sort of reaction. Even more so if we send out a pokemon like chandelure which was his brother’s ace.
Hey so anyone remember that cut song “Need Her to Be Mine”? Yeah I just realized that the way young Odysseus calls for Athena and says “to be mine” is the same as when Telemachus addresses Athena and says “fine” in “We’ll be Fine”
I’m Unwell :)
“Watch where the birds fly, they will lead us to land, there we’ll hunt for food my second in command”
Says that tactful and guileful man, gentle, royal, rugged, Odysseus, MASTER MARINER, and King of Ithaca.
Ody…my guy…
The birds will lead you to food.
Seagulls gather in flocks above water when there are fish near the surface.
FISH YOU CAN EAT.
BUDDY.
RAMSHACKLE A FISHING ROD. FOOD IS RIGHT THERE. USE SPEARS IF SO DESIRED.
I adore Odysseus, but I’m losing it actively, I do believe.
Rip odysseus you would’ve loved joining jorge rivera-herrans on his trip to ithaca to celebrate the release of the final saga of epic the musical the ithaca saga coming out december 25th 2024
i think people should implement the fact Odysseus cries CONSTANTLY in the Odyssey into their epic stuff more...cuz the sentence 'I then began to weep" is said so much itd take me forever to tally it up,
AAAAAAAAAA
I cant be the only one who sees a face on the water here right????? Right???????
Because my brain isn’t decomposing fast enough with all of my Odyssey content, I have decided to make a playlist for songs that remind me of Odysseus.
So far I only have two songs, but I’m trying to expand on this playlist and am inquiring on any recommendations. I will have at minimum one Epic song I just don’t know which one yet.
For vibe example the two songs I’ve got are Leave a Light On by Papa Roach, and Ulysses by Josh Garrels.
I will be taking as many recommendations as I can
Everyone who either has listened to the Ithaka Saga already or who plans on listening to it PLEASE DO NOT GIVE SPOILERS. Despite the Odyssey being a well known tale, we don’t know Jorge’s plans with the saga. Please please PLEASE be considerate.
I was right :)
Not Odysseus’ “Maybe you can learn to forgive” line being in the same melody as “ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves”.
Greek mythos brainrot is so bad that Odysseus king of Ithaka can grow mushrooms using my neurons
