I think the thing about the existence of the wilderness (in the supernatural sense) is that there was some sort of supernatural element out there with them. I say this because there are inexplicable elements to the show (no eyed man, Jackie's dying hallucination, Van's seeing things as she was dying). But that thing did not make them do the things they did.

Let's think about it here. When Lottie was speaking French, she said "it wants blood". Someone translated it fully (I don't remember who so if someone wants to tag them), the French translated to something like "I gave it offerings, but it wants blood. Yet blood doesn't mean death. You can get a papercut and bleed.

Which brings me to my point. The wilderness gives them something when there's blood. Not when there's death. When they were on their periods, they were eating better. When the plane crashed, van survived because of the blood spilled. During the seance, the spirit left Lottie when she was bleeding. When Shauna got a nosebleed on the symbol, the birds fell from the sky. At doomcoming, slitting Travis's throat brought the bear. When Laura Lee flew the plane, it saved Van. As Shauna was giving birth, Travis cutting his palm saved Shauna's life.

They have to spill blood to get what they want. They don't have to kill.

That's the whole point. There is something out there with them, but the girls are also crazy. It was just them. Them who decided to kill.

i’m tired of seeing lottienat be mischacterized as a popular girl x loner/outcast dynamic when, in reality, they’re BOTH canonically outcasts with very few genuinely close friends pre-crash. it’s why lottie slides into the role of group leader so well; she’s not used to people genuinely admiring or looking up to her back home. it’s why natalie meets her with such resistance; she’s fine being an outcast, being alternative—, hell, sometimes she even seems proud of it—, and she can’t believe lottie would give in to all that wilderness bullshit for what she perceives to be no other reason than community. natalie is the one who comforts lottie when she wakes up in the middle of the night for a reason. she’s the one who tends to her wounds in the bathtub after shauna pummels her for a reason. it’s because she knows what it’s like to be the the crazy one, the targeted, the outcast, the lonely. stripping them of that shared loneliness changes their dynamic to the point that it’s unrecognizable.

Funny how the two Yellowjackets with the most endearing, beautiful and sad brown doe eyes are the most clinically insane

i hate how much people mischaracterize nat.. she has possibly the strongest core moral system of all the yellowjackets. aside from laura lees, probably, but laura lee’s morals come at least in part from her faith, nat’s come from the fact that she is genuinely just a good person. she is verbally against icing anyone out of the group. she is against stealing (she only took the candy she paid for when she broke the vending machine). she worries about the group noticing jackie not pitching in so she wakes her up in the morning. she has to be talked down and held back because she tries so hard at first to save javi.

nat is a good person and just i feel like a lot of people just put her in the box of “chaotic morally fucked baddie” but that’s not rlly who she is..

How it feels to be mutuals with both people who would die for Travis and people who would kill Travis the first chance they get

reposting my youtube comment onto here bc its literally all i can think about. caitvi may have been affecting each other's lives for far longer than they know (they may have been saving each other for far longer than they've realized too).

I've seen a lot of good theories about where the timeline divergence came from (damn the arcane fandom is so big brained sometimes, good job y'all), but this one consistently rots my brain from the inside out bc my god. i will never get over the underlying tragedy of ep 7. how one small difference could have changed it all.

arcane really is a story of what ifs, each more painful to think about than the last.

Everyone always gets on yellowjackets for being fucking weird with the number of  background characters and changing actresses and lacking depth for a lot of said background character and everything all the time but thats the point!!! That’s the point of it!!! All the surviving Yellowjackets are unreliable narrators!!! Most if not all of the surviving Yellowjackets have mental conditions and if they don’t they sure as hell have endless trauma. The flashbacks are being told by them, 25 years later, when they have spent all that time trying to hide and deny everything that happened and everything that occurred and all of it is messed up. They don’t want to remember it all, they don’t want to remember their dead teammates. Sometimes it’s impossible to tell which characters are flashing back to which segments. Sometimes characters are inexplicably absent. Sometimes some people remember more than others. Sometimes random characters appear who have been absent all this time. Like, Crystal appeared as a character out of the blue when Misty was feeling abandoned by Nat and was remembering her first best friend. Characters are recast because who can even remember what those girls looked like anymore. The consistent characters are the ones no one can forget. The first ones. Who is gonna forget Laura Lee? Jackie? Javi? No one. But who is gonna remember girl #3 that you killed and ate when you went insane in the wilderness? No one. Or maybe you don’t want to remember. Maybe by girl #3 you try and forget everything. You stifle all feelings and memories until you remember maybe she had brown hair, oh i think i remember her gathering herbs once, oh i think she had this hat she liked to wear, oh maybe she was around during this event or maybe she was already dead and gone and buried and eaten. Maybe maybe maybe. You don’t know. You never know. Because thats what trauma does it eats away at the brain until all you have left to tell your story is faulty memories and a heart full of grief. And i think it just got worse once Shauna burned her journals and left everything into pure memory. Even those were unreliable because Shauna was suffering from day one and it only got worse after Jackie. Nothing is gonna be consistent about a story told 25 years after the events by people so traumatized they can barely remember it themselves.

saw an absolutely hilarious animal crossing theory that i now 100% accept and it’s that in the animal crossing world, humans are going extinct, and so all the animals have locked you in an elaborate zoo enclosure and are trying to give you enrichment. and that’s why they give you infinite pointless tasks, hide money in trees and rocks, invented debt that doesnt matter etc. it’s why they always act so happy to see you even after you raze the entire island, relocate their houses twice, and always act so pleased about your choices no matter what. it’s all to keep their little endangered human healthy and enriched. and thinking of it this way has genuinely improved my experience of the game
