I am not a mattfoggy shipper.

I know, I know. It’s tough words coming from any Daredevil fan - BUT - this is not for any bigoted or stupid reasons.

Personally, I love their dynamic! These are two of my favourite characters, literally what else could you ask for?? But I think they’re better as platonic soulmates.

The thing is, in every single TV show, movie, or piece of media - who is the primary focus besides the MC? The love interest. I find it fascinating and wonderful that in Daredevil, Foggy is Matt’s second-in-command, his go-to.

I’ve said this before, but I just LOVE how they made Foggy be the first person Matt tells his identity to in the TV show. In the comics (as we all know) Matt just tells any girlfriends he has had an especially *good time* with that he’s Daredevil, basically, and it has so much less weight.

But in that episode (you know the one) - I prefer to interpret their relationship as platonic. Because platonic relationships are no less strong, no less worthy of attention than romantic ones. I feel like adding that relationship in there takes away from the fact that they are just, them. They’re working out their shit together.

I’d also like to say I have nothing against MattFoggy - I’ve read many a fic - but, it’s just not my Daredevil OTP. I feel like they both get so much more and we as the audience get so much more out of their friendship - something meaningful that is rarely ever represented in the media. I love MattFoggy, but I like the platonic relationships in Daredevil more.

Again, to reiterate, NOTHING AGAINST MATTFOGGY I LOVE EM OK!!! But I personally just like how the show has finally given some platonic love a front seat :)

Things that wouldn't have worked in Daredevil but which I'd have liked to see anyway:

- Matt using his super-senses to prank people. Bonus points if Foggy gets in on it.

- Karen punching someone out. Just knock em out then, like, fix her hair and walk away all cool and collected like a bad ass.

- More Matt interacting with kids

- Foggy's family treating Matt like family, that little thing at the end of season 3 when Matt calls someone Uncle just wasn't enough I need *more*

- Matt 👏 and 👏 cats 👏

- Claire and Foggy sharing a drink at Josie's and ranting about Matt together

- Frank 👏 and 👏 cats 👏

- Karen and Matt bromance. No idea how that'd work, but I feel like it would be epic.

- Matt and Marci bromance (see above).

- Something along the lines of Stick getting hit in the face with a pie.
