Could you tell some of the differences between ENFP and ENFJ? I know they're really different but as far as Ne vs Fe goes, I feel like sometimes they can *appear* similar in social situations

image

Generally, you’ll know you’re around a person with Ne in their stack when you have 654 different conversations in the course of an hour and wonder how you effortlessly went from cream cheese to inner-galactic travel. The person with high Ni is still trying to figure out the deeper implications of a single event or theory six months after the high Ne has abandoned the topic and moved on.

The primary observational difference I’ve noticed when you have an ENFJ vs. an ENFP involved is the ENFJ is tuned in to all the ‘mind games’ people are playing with you (FeNi), whereas if you present a problem to the ENFP, they head straight for tert-Te “fix it” mode.

Someone brings up a problem they are having in the group and the ENFJ realizes swiftly this is a cry for attention and they want affirmation and/or are aiming for sympathy, so the Fe-dom goes along with it by empathizing and/or discreetly steering the conversation in a more positive direction. Healthy ENFJs are patient with others and can usually figure out diplomatic questions which will help others through their emotional turmoil; the most skilled ENFJs are able to point others toward self-empowerment through these questions, without ever putting themselves at risk of being ‘blamed’ for the other person’s choices (because all the ENFJ did was ask questions and pose potential motives; they let the individual draw their own conclusions; Fe gives them this tact / skill, and Ni supplies them with what they believe is ‘behind’ this person’s actions, as well as an ability to think ‘how will this play out in the future if this goes wrong?’).

The ENFP, being ‘disconnected’ from the emotional environment (Fi), will assume the person brought it up because they want to fix it, and start going through a litany of possible fixes rather than simply saying, “Aww, I’m sorry.” FiTe is not terrific at extended bouts of extroverted sympathy, especially if the person brings up the same problem multiple times over a long period of time but rebuffs any suggestions on how to fix it. (Being a strong Te type, the ENFP may decide this person only wants to complain, not change, and since Ne wants forward momentum, this person has become a ‘lost cause’ in the Ne/Te looper’s eyes.) Since their emotions are internal, ENFPs are more comfortable with ‘fixing the problem’ than ‘talking it out’ (INFPs, being better connected to their own feelings, have a deeper capacity for understanding and are more comfortable with ‘comforting’ others). Ne gives them many different ideas for why this person is making this choice and/or venting, but unlike the Ni, who has a fixed idea, Ne changes its perception with each new piece of information.

Because ENFJs have Ti, they are far less willing to just ‘give up’ on a situation and may engage in trying to ‘fix it’ long after they should have given up; their low Ti does not know when to quit. Since ENFPs have higher Te, as Ne-doms they will run through a bunch of possibilities in a short amount of time and then may give up much sooner, because they can see no more potential and their Te simply decides, ‘this is not working, call it quits.’ They lack a Ti desire to ‘completely understand’ in favor of ‘rapid action.’

Unhealthy ENFJs think they know what is best for you and will try to force their ideas about your life onto you and/or argue you into agreeing with their consensus while often being judgmental about other people; unhealthy ENFPs will try and bully you into being proactive with your problems (Te) and have little respect for your feelings in the process.

Both (healthy) types are dreadful with details and restless / often want forward movement, in search of constant new intellectual stimulation, and care a lot about other people’s reactions to their choices, but ENFJs are more easily able to be diplomatic and ENFPs are prone to  occasional (unintentional) bluntness.

My somewhat final thoughts of My Hero Academia

Note: Now that MHA is now doing an epilogue and is ending soon, I might as well give my final thoughts about this series. I’ll probably continue to talk more about it after the series is officially over but I’m not going to do a full fledged hour long review because I have better things to do.

This is a generic shonen empowerment fantasy that managed to screw its own theme and message. Any good will I would’ve given to series at the beginning is completely irrelevant as it when on. The morals and themes are constantly changing to throw random s**t on a sheet of paper that either doesn’t make sense, contradicts what being shown on screen, or if it doesn’t fits the tone of the story. My hero is not a deconstruction of the shonen genre that does anything new that would make it stand out. Most of the ideas and plot points created either have horrible execution, given no amount of attention where they’re just ignored or just have horrible payoffs. It follows all the exact same tropes seen in every other series and makes them worse. It also gets to the point where it rips off Naruto and makes the same mistakes it did. The amount of plot twists that are excused as some kind of subversion are obnoxious and predictable where’s it gets incredibly annoying. The world building is horrendous and just makes the story feel small for a world that has a life changing impact. The power scale doesn’t always make sense and it does nothing but act as a way to reward characters that didn’t earn it.

It has a dangerous and horrible message for victims of abuse and bullying. My hero has no problem telling the audience that if you’re a victim of any kind of abuse, it’s your problem and you should just act like it’s not a big issue. Apparently it’s ok lie to your friends, family and colleagues that you can trust but it’s not ok to lie or even hold accountable to your abuser. And no matter if he/she has a reason for the way they are, you are always in the wrong and you should spend your sad life praising and benefiting them.

There exists way too many characters for the audience to be invested in and after watching them for several arcs, they are just stereotypes with nothing new or original about them. Many of them come across as either being stupid, annoying, useless, unlikeable, petty, ignorant or just both. Some characters will either exist to benefit others or just highjack the story, ruining every other character’s chance to get any sort spotlight. The series is way too reliant on putting focus on unpleasant and uninteresting characters to please its large audience. The humor is way too reliant on a character’s personality trait. No matter what they do, the story expects us to automatically like them regardless of how horrible and selfish their actions are. Izuku may not be the worst character, but he’s no where near as great as everyone hypes him up to be. Bakugo is an unbearable mess of a character that serves no real purpose in the story and exists to take away every characters chance of development. His development is one of the laziest and obnoxious parts I have ever seen in any story and yet he’s the most popular sadist in the show with no sort of reason or sympathy for me to like him. Any criticism given to this d**khead is automatically shot down and people like me get harassed and called a brain dead immature f*g for stating our opinion.

Aside from Twice and Gentle/ La Brava, these villains are not that interesting and what ever traits about them gave them something to do is absence. Shigaraki is the stories biggest wasted potential that went from being an idiot to being an incompetent idiot to benefit my left nutsack. Toga is a Mary Stu who went from being a sad and annoying character to an annoying and self centered bitch who complains after being told her actions are wrong. Dabi is just a Gary Stu who’s only interested in wanting to kill his dad. Spinner is a joke that is constantly scammed by his creator.

The only saving grace I can give to this series is the art style of the manga and some parts of the Todoroki family drama. I can even say that Horikoshi’s art style and how he designs characters and panel designs inspired me as an artist. The anime as a whole is fine but it’s not perfect, but that’s mostly because it doesn’t do a whole lot of creatively/artistic things to make it on par with the most popular anime series. As an artist, I would recommend my hero as a reference to use to improve your work. If you just want to read or watch a series that has fights that just make you feel some kind of emotion, then you might get something out of this series. It’s not even the absolute worst thing I’ve seen; I’ve seen much worse in other genres other than shonen manga. It’s just rare to find a badly written series without being surrounded by d**kriders. It’s just a disaster of a series, and I wished I spent my time during the pandemic watching another series like Demon Slayer, or Black Clover.

So this might be a hot take or it might not be but I 100% believe Bakugo was an entitled kid whose parents probably spoiled the fuck out of him along with everyone else. Or at the very least probably fueled his superiority complex. And the entire reason for the inferiority complex he had is because he knew Izuku was better than him in every way except being quirkless and that's why he was such a shit to him. Hell we see Bakugo's thought process play out during his shittastic "apology" because Izuku tried to help him when he fell into the river he's a better person than Bakugo because he has fucking empathy for everyone and Bakugo couldn't stand that. And it's a large part of why I will never like Bakugo as a character. Fundamentally could he have changed? Yes. But the execution of his change was done so poorly that even Horikoshi admitted in the epilogue that Bakugo is still not a good person. He still treats others poorly and will probably go down in the rankings because of that. He's an entitled shit who never had anyone truly check his behavior and just because he's done a few good things does not outweigh all the bad he's done and continues to do.

My thoughts on Shinsou

So about Shinsou: The first thing we see Shinsou do is talk down to 1-A and talking about how he wants to be in the hero course. I was expecting him to therefore be someone who tries really hard despite everything to be a hero.

Unfortunately as seen in his fight with Midoriya he is nothing like that. Shinsou talks shit to Midoriya about quirks and discrimination but when Midoriya breaks free of the mind control, he wins easily. Someone who wants to be a hero should definitely be able to throw a punch or dodge. Instead he instantly loses. This scene proves to me that he isn't hero material at all. Not to mention the fact that he was talking to Midoriya of all people about being looked down upon because of his quirk.

Midoriya is someone who has faced far more quirk based adversity than Shinsou and this scene felt like it was setting up for a moment between the two boys (or at least some kind of comparison or parallel).

One of Shouji's main things is that people find him scary so he wears a mask. He has clearly been seen as a villain but he's not an asshole like Shinsou is.

At this point Shinsou seems like a perfect rival for Midoriya. They both have quirk related issues, they both want to be heroes, and they both have reasons to interact. Midoriya because he wants to help Shinsou like he did Todoroki and Shinsou because he clearly likes to tell people he wants to beat them.

Shinsou very clearly could have, and should have been everything Bakugou is. And unlike Bakugou he doesn't have 12 years of abusive history to slow him down. Instead Horikoshi rarely brings him up and fans fawn over him despite the fact he's just a loser jerk.

Canon Shinsou has nothing redeeming about him and hasn't improved one bit. Aizawa favours him and gives him special treatment and never seems to berate him for verbally abusing both Midoriya and Ojiro (who he called a monkey). At least in the lightnovels we see him feel remorse for what he said to Ojiro (but not for Midoriya).

At the very least his hero motivation could be to uplift those with so called villain quirks but even his hero motivation seems to be non-existent. All in all Shinsou had so much opportunity to be an interesting character but instead his lack of character development paints him as nothing but a jerk and a bully, proving once again that Horikoshi hates all character development.

Maybe he would have had the time to improve his character if a certain someone (Bakugou) didn't take up most of the character time.

So there's a strange "defense" of Miraculous I've seen crop up on occasion. The idea that everything wrong about the Lovesquare powerdynamic is deliberate and will all be explored next season (lets put aside that this defense has been cropping up for 3 seasons now). The claim that Soon(TM), the writers are gonna make the characters face the concequences and explore the fallout of the entire jenga-tower of BS they've been "carefully" setting up all along... Which... isnt a defense I vibe with, cause it fundamentally boils down to "its not a Kids Rolemodel Show, its a deconstruction of a Kids Rolemodel Show". It's a defence that would place Marinette alongside Tyler Durden, Walter White and Rick Sanchez in the "you werent supposed to relate to them" pantheon. And while i think there are plenty of reasons that deconstruction is a usefull tool (even if i hate the dime-a-dozen "Childrens Fairytale but its depression" and "Superman, but psycho"' decon-stories out there). I'd argue 'Kids Rolemodel Show' is the one genre that should never be deconstructed, or at least not in the slow-burn,long-form way the people arguing this claim the show to be doing. And i hold that stance for one simple two-part reason: Poe's law, and the fact that the deconstructed genre is aimed at an audience with absolute zero media-literacy. (reminder: "5-6 year old kids" is the one audience where that is not an insult, simply a statement of fact.) A show aimed deconstructing a genre with an audience for whom it may actually be their first big piece of media is legitimately dangerous. Because there is no way a 5 year old can be expected to tell "deconstruction of a formulaic kids cartoon" from "Formulaic kids cartoon". The idea that "they've been making Marinette into a bad example deliberately and are going to reveal the entire show to have been a carefull ruse in season 6/7" is supposed to be a defense? Its frankly absurd. A 6 year kid who watched the show when it first aired and idolised Ladybug, could be old enough to drink by the time S6 reveals she was supposed to be a bad example. A little girl who based her relationships on the way Mari pursues romance would have a restraining order by the time the show indends to pull this twist. And some of y'all are claiming that "actually its a long-form deconstruction" is a defense? I legit don't get y'all.

Even Shinsou Thought That Mineta Should've Been Expelled. FREAKING SHINSOU!!!

Even Shinsou thought that Mineta should've been expelled. FREAKING SHINSOU!!!

Hi @anartisicandautisticstararcher 👋

Yeah at this point I don't know why mineta wasn't expelled from UA.

I still don't understand how teachers and people saw mineta's behaviour and simply said nothing. They just let it happen.

Like remember what he did to the girls in the Sports Festival by getting them to wear cheerleaders uniforms or what he done to momo in particular by literally attaching himself to her.

THIS IS ON LIVE TELEVISION!!?!?!?!

Aren't momos parents influential and rich why didn't they do something about this?

Even Shinsou Thought That Mineta Should've Been Expelled. FREAKING SHINSOU!!!

Heck, this isn't even something that he does once. NO, he does it multiple times.

Heck, mineta's pervy and inappropriate behaviour happen so often that there are literal YouTube video compilations of them reaching more than 5 minutes. For a side character who doesn't get much screentime for all of it to be centred around you, being a pathetic sexual harraser is absurd to me.

Even Shinsou Thought That Mineta Should've Been Expelled. FREAKING SHINSOU!!!
Even Shinsou Thought That Mineta Should've Been Expelled. FREAKING SHINSOU!!!
Even Shinsou Thought That Mineta Should've Been Expelled. FREAKING SHINSOU!!!

Also, let's not forget that this is the character that hori claims to be his self insert because he also describes himself to be a bit of a perv.

Annie: There are legends of people born with the gift of making music so true, it can pierce the veil between life and death; conjuring spirits from the past...and the future. In ancient Ireland, they were called Filí. In Choctaw land, they called them Fire Keepers. And in West Africa, they were called Griots. This gift can bring healing to their communities. But it also...attracts evil....
