The US Isn't A Country, It's 50 Countries In A Trenchcoat Pretending To Be An Adult

Hey everyone, House just passed H.R 9495 as of 11/21, which is a bill that prevents non-profits for helping with causes such as Palestine and other acts the government deems "terrorism."

The guardian explains why it's a massive problem here.

This could seriously hurt non-profits that are trying to help multiple good causes with the vague terminology they are using to give themselves power to dictate what that means.

They are trying to fast track it while everyone is panicking about the results of the election. CALL YOUR SENATORS AND SAY NO TO H.R. 9495.

This is extremely serious and a dangerous bill. We should do what we can to stop it.

One last talent show to save the rec center

Ok everybody here's the deal.

My science education nonprofit, Skype a Scientist (you might know her, creator of the squid facts hotline and matcher of classrooms + scientists) has secured absolutely no grants to support general operations for 2025. But! We're selling advent calendars to fund our program! They absolutely rule. They can save our nonprofit asses. If we sell 5000, which I realize, is so many, we can fund our program for 2025. Then I can offer a bunch of programming for free. Running a nonprofit is a weird job.

Every day, counting down to frankly whatever you want (it's usually Christmas, but man, maybe you want to count down to Halloween, that's fine by me) scratch off the sparkly sparkly iridescence and reveal a fact about frogs! We have 24 top-notch frog facts here.

You should get one for every kid in your life, then get one for all the adults who still let themselves access joy in critters.

Why are people mean?

Like we're all just trying to live in a fallen world. Just be nice and build someone up. It doesn't take that much effort to compliment someone. Takes even less to not insult them.

Even if they're not being nice to you, that doesn't mean you have to reciprocate that treatment. Answer meanness with kindness. 'Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.' (Can't remember the reference on that one.)

Do you get anything out of being mean? Or are you just trying to fill a void? (God fills that void by the way)

Let's all try to be nice to each other and see how it goes. I think it'll be great.

You know what I think is really cool about language (English in this case)? It’s the way you can express “I don’t know” without opening your mouth. All you have to do is hum a low note, a high note, then another lower note. The same goes for yes and no. Does anyone know what this is called?

Luigi looks like he has a headache and a montage of past images goes by: Mario and Luigi getting carried by a stork, them in their animal costumes dancing together, Luigi holding a rope for Mario, and Mario and Luigi riding the same kart in mariokart, all with little yellow and green translucent toads and stars and green translucent eyes, nose, and mustache in the center.
