I personally have great respect for him. And since I'm talking about the land of Awadh, I wanted to celebrate the great poet and saint, Sant Tulsidas.

Although not born in the Awadh region, Tulsidas spent much of his life in the cities of Ayodhya and Kashi, where he composed much of his work in both Brajbhasha and Awadhi.

The Ramcharit Manas and Hanuman Chalisa, both written in Awadhi language, are two of his most famous works. Ramcharit Manas, retells the Ramayana in a way that resonated with common people of Uttar Pradesh at that time, making the epic’s teachings accessible to all.

This choice not only made the story of Shri Rama and Mata Sita widely known, but it also helped elevate Awadhi, spreading its use across countless Hindu households in India.

As a Hindu I don’t fucking care if someone renounces Hinduism but I do care very much if someone lies about Hinduism. Most of these trolls don’t even understand Hinduism (it’s a vast vast belief system and allows freedom to its followers) and I hate it when they try to portray Hinduism as either this or that. Sati finds no religious sanction in Hinduism and neither do all the things they listed on there. They are a result of a deteriorating society and not a religious phenomenon.

These intellectually bankrupt and hateful bigots will never convince me that they are the moral knights in shining armour that they claim to be.

We stopped respecting and listening to our elders and their teachings, we lost faith in our traditions and our culture, we let our rituals and routines be influenced and turned into something we can't even recognise. Without our mother, our guide, we stumbled from the path of धर्म. Now we're left vulnerable from the attacks of अधर्म.

And how are we to fight our battle against अधर्म without knowledge? How are we to stand up for what's right when we don't even know the truth? We can't even recognise it even when it's looking right at us.

Our enemies don't just hold g*ns and swords. They have made misinformation, manipulation and manufactured narratives their first choice of weapon. The battlefield is also virtual now.

To fight against them, we need knowledge and strategy and clarity. There's a need to reconnect with our culture and the teachings of our religion.

Ignorance needs to be defeated. And our power must be knowledge.
