I have always been a Liberal. Even with the India-Pakistan war, I have always scoffed at the people that tried to say that Islam is the problem and not just the extremist, terror cells in Pakistan. I wasn't excited about the idea of a war, but I saw it as the result of literally nothing else working out. I heard about Kashmiri Pandits, but I thought what happened to them was because of the militant groups coming in. I was sure that they'll be helped to go back home in time.

Now the Hindus in West Bengal are being slaughtered.

West Bengal has been one of the leading forces of the freedom struggle in our country. We have had brilliant philosophers, artists, dancers, poets, singers, screen play writers, writers everything from West Bengal. It is a state that produces brilliant intellectuals every year. Liberals and socialists. I don't know if you've ever talked to a Bengali, but they're the most capable, well spoken, talented people you will ever come across. It's the stronghold of the Shaktism sect in India. Ma Durga is revered the most in that land.

And now our people are being slaughtered. Hindus are being driven out of their land by the illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and certain extremist Muslims. It's like watching the Kashmiri Pandit exodus in real time. For centuries they've coexisted together with no issues, enriching the culture of Bengal, and suddenly brother has turned to foe. Houses and businesses are being burnt. They're looting people and issuing rape threats to women. People are being killed. They're throwing around bombs. They're attacking the police forces.

This is a land that has embraced refugees and shared everything with them. There was no reason to attack these people.

People had to cross rivers in boats to escape. 500 people had to leave their homes overnight because of the sudden extremists. Only Muslims were spared.

Locals say this has been going on since 2020.

Please, I'm begging with folded hands, keep the Bengali Hindus in your mind. Look at what they're facing. This is scary. If even the Liberal and safe Bengal can be turned overnight, no place is safe. What tf are people supposed to do?

You shouldn't expect a reward for something that is expected of you.

Just like when you're a parent, you are expected to support your kid, give them a good upbringing. You shouldn't expect rewards in return. The same goes for feminism. If you think your feminist views deserve a clap or a pat on the back, choose a better reason.

if they are sacrificing masculinity through advocating for women politically, then they expect to bolster their masculinity through receiving expressions of gratitude and adoration by women ("feminist men are so hot" "consent is sexy" "pro-choice men get laid more" etc.) or they expect to bolster their masculinity through emasculating other men by asserting the standards of masculinity they adhere to are the "real" masculinity ("real men support women" "sexists are immature boys, I'm a man" "I'm secure in my masculinity and they're insecure" etc.)

to dismantle patriarchy, you need to be able to advocate for women even when it means losing gendered status. other men mostly will not respect you, and many misogynist women will not respect you either. it might not get you laid or praised or validated. in fact, it will probably subject you to increased scrutiny and criticism (because feminized subjects are always subject to such, and if you lose social masculinity, you too will experience this to some degree).

will you still advocate for women even if there is no social benefit and only social cost? do you have principles, or do you just want the fantasy of being a benevolent ruler?

Our land has been the land of wisdom and knowledge. Be it astronomy, science, and maths or art, cuisine, and medicine.

It seems like our mother has abandoned us when we stopped listening to her voice. We stopped respecting and listening to our elders and their teachings, we lost faith in our traditions and our culture, we let our rituals and routines be influenced and turned into something we can't even recognise. Without our mother, our guide, we stumbled from the path of धर्म. Now we're left vulnerable from the attacks of अधर्म.

And how are we to fight our battle against अधर्म without knowledge? How are we to stand up for what's right when we don't even know the truth? We can't even recognise it even when it's looking right at us.

Our enemies don't just hold g*ns and swords. They have made misinformation, manipulation and manufactured narratives their first choice of weapon. The battlefield is also virtual now.

To fight against them, we need knowledge and strategy and clarity. There's a need to reconnect with our culture and the teachings of our religion.

Ignorance needs to be defeated. And our power must be knowledge.
