Oh Not This Again.

Oh not this again.

You know that Hanuman in Hanuman chalisa has been called "kapi" which means monkey.

Plus how do you explain Hanuman using his tail to burn Lanka? How do you explain Makardhwaj, half-monkey half-crocodile son of Hanuman?

And okay lets assume vanar were humans, then explain Jatayu? Was he a bird or was he human too?

But ofcourse go ahead and question it.

Imagine a Ramayan adaptation where the Vanars are not monkeys...

How'd the public react lol

framing hindus as colonizers vs muslims/arabs has to be even dumber than saying jews are not indigenous to the levant.

…do you know how old hinduism is?

“colonizers framing themselves as the oppressed so they don’t have to atone for their crimes told me the actual oppressed are oppressors so i’m just going to believe it without question.”

get a grip 😂 the earth is flat too, right?

people who know history: so arab colonization—

Can't talk about any iconic bhakts of Maa Saraswati, but I've never heard a single performance of folk singers in Awadh not have a geet dedicated to Mata Sharda Bhawani. They sing her glories for she is the goddess of art and music.

And Maihar which is in Madhya Pradesh now, is the seat of Sharda Bhawani, and people in huge numbers go there from Awadh to worship her. I've never been there but I really wish to go there one day.

I am

Maybe

A teeny tiny bit salty there aren't like well known iconic Saraswati bhakts

Atleast not any that I know off

There's Mirabai for Krishna and Ramakrishna Paramahamsa for Maa Kali

Like c'mon dude,

I expected atleast a legendary poet or astronomer or mathematician

I'm sure that the ancient universities of India were busttling with Saraswati bhakts

But why didn't they write down any of their stories and lives :(

GURL SAME

Like where did all the Saraswati bhakts go?? Just disappeared into thin air??? 😭😭😭😭

Some or rather most universities were filled with Buddhist ideologies tho so I don't know how many were Saraswati Bhakts bit I'm sure there were some ofcourse

Also another reason could be is because Saraswati wasn't/isn't much worshipped, like in the way Kali, Durga, Vishnu, Shiva, Lakshmi and all are worshipped with temples and elaborate rituals throughout Indian subcontinent...

Like I can maybe name a few temples dedicated to Saraswati and only maybe the eastern side, have a dedicated day to worship her

So yeah... Its sad she doesn't gets the recognition she deserves tho :(

I saw a post by one of my mutuals talking about dhoti. But I can't find it now. I just wanted to reblog it to say that I've heard many relatives and even my mother call a saree dhoti while talking in awadhi.

Which reminds me of this one very wholesome moment with my (now late) grandmother.

I was 5years old. And like every other summer vacation, we were visiting our grandparents in uttar pradesh. My parents had bought a really simple beautiful saree for my dadi. And the second day of us being there, my parents and I were sitting with my dadi and my parents told her that I had chosen and bought a saree for her (which was a lie but idk why my parents do that to involve me like all the time to show that I do think about all this). And my dadi got so happy saying "अरे हमार भैया हमरे खातिर धोती लाये अहेन? कहाँ बा?" So my mother sent me to go get it, because "i had picked it". But I replied to my mother "but hum toh dhoti laaye hi nahi hai. hum toh saree leke aaye hai dadi ke liye. dadi ko dhoti kyu chahiye? dadi dhoti pehente ha?". My mother replied didn't explain this to me. She just laughed and went with me to bring the saree and we gave it to daadi.

Adding to it

1. Karn was a grown up adult picking fights with literal teenagers. He wasn't some poor guy getting bullied. He was trying to climb the ladder and he knew Dhritarashtra sits on the throne and Duryodhana is the crown prince so he became friends with him instead of the Pandavas. And the result - he was made king of Anga. The same duryodhana who insulted Vidur for being born to a handmaiden bestows an entire kingdom to another low-born man. Isn't that surprising?

2. Eklavya was also a grown up adult. He's Krishna's contemporary not Pandavas'. He was a prince and yes he was also a cousin to Krishna. And Dronacharya was a rajguru. A rajguru is dedicated to teaching the kids of only that particular royal family. Think of Rishi Vashisht being the rajguru for Suryavansh.

3. Vidur was a prime minister to the Kuru kingdom. And later to the Pandavas. Krishna decided to eat and stay at Vidur's home instead of the Kuru palace. Duryodhana insulted Vidur right before the Kurukshetra war and Vidur broke his bow and decided not to side with the Kauravas in the war. Now why would he own a bow? Was he trained in archery? Does that mean he was treated equal to his half brothers? The answer is yes. Oh also he was married to a princess from some unnamed kingdom( or maybe I just don't remember it). Also he left for the forest along with Kunti, Dhritarashtra and Gandhari. Because guess what? he was family.

I would actually like to add here that Vishwamitra was a Kshatriya first and then turned into a rishi, to become a brahmrishi. So yes the caste system was based on karma and not janma like someone mentioned already

One of my favourite things that I came across while reading ancient history is when Varahmir straight up countered Budhhist Sutras’ and Dharmshastras’ claims of women being “seductresses capable of straying learned men” by pointing out “bro. Its you. You’re the one whose looking at her the wrong way. You’re the problem here.”

Oh god. This is disturbing.

Rapists are not some alien species. They live amongst us. They grow in silence, in group chats and communities online. Getting away with all their tiny little acts of perversion. Until they get the confidence (backed by others like them) to commit such heinous condemnable acts.

The legal/ justice system will have to bring justice to this, we gotta keep pushing. They should be forced into taking a decision. Wish we just had enough international presence to put India's legal system in focus, so that they'd do something to save face

everyone who supports a rapist or is a rapist himself is a threat to women. these ppl are sick in the head. you won't believe me when i say this but they don't even respect our goddesses and create their own communities on reddit where they masterbate to their images or abuse many girls....this is their way of showing how much they disrespect us...the way guys talk about women is traumatizing

this just makes me more sick. abhi bhi ghamand hai apne gender pe??? im asking all the men here who are still quiet

I have this in my drafts for so long now. But this was in the context of Shri Hari Vishnu and Bholenath. People tend to compare them too and try to put them against each other saying one is better than the other.

"My heart isn't so small that it can't give respect to both Shri Hari and Shiv Sambhu. My mind not so tiny to not comprehend that they're one."

No one can annoy me more than people who hate on Shree Ram but call themselves Krishna Bhakt or vice versa. Or compare these two to prove one lesser than the other.

They're the same person for god's sake.

If you think they would disagree with each other's actions then sorry to break it to you, you're just being stupid and don't understand anything about any of them.

Same goes for the people comparing Maa Laxmi, Sita, Radha and Rukmini.

THEY'RE THE SAME PERSON.

We have a family from UP doing "Shiv charcha" today and I can't get enough of it🥰😇

They've called all families in our society who are from UP and everyone's singing bhajans and kirtans in bhojpuri and awadhi. By everyone, I mean, it's all the women. My mother's also there. And hearing it all feels so good. It is because it's quite rare that this kind of event happens. And yeah connecting to the language is an added benefit here.

Does anyone know what a "Shiv charcha" is though?
