Mantis carefully listened to Ella's explanation of spring cleaning, her large eyes blinking slowly as she absorbed the information. She found the concept intriguing, a ritual of renewal and purification. With a nod, Mantis picked up a cloth and began wiping down the surfaces of the room. Dust particles danced in the sunlight streaming through the windows as she worked methodically, her movements precise and deliberate. As she cleaned, Mantis couldn't help but ponder the idea of getting rid of things one no longer needed. It struck a chord within her as she thought of her journey of self-discovery. She'd gotten rid of things that no longer served her, and it had in fact enriched her life in ways she never expected. "Interesting... shedding the old to embrace the new," Mantis murmured softly, her voice barely above a whisper, "a beautiful analogy for growth."
Ella didn't mind cleaning, she found it a good way to distract herself from other things going on with her life. At the sudden question though, she paused. "Oh we still clean in between! But Spring cleaning is supposed to be like a big deep clean. Where you might get areas you don't usually clean or you even get rid of stuff in your house that you don't need anymore."
Sensing the confusion and fear in the air, Mantis focused her abilities, attempting to calm those around her, hoping to get them out of the crossfire. With delicate gestures and soothing words, she directed people to safety, her gentle touch providing a sense of reassurance amidst the turmoil. "Follow me, quickly, this way leads to the emergency exits. We must evacuate the premises immediately." After getting the small group she was escorting to the exit, Mantis turned back to the ballroom in search of more people to help. "Hey, are you okay?" she asked, coming up behind another guest. "Come on, we have to get you out of here, it's not safe."

It had been an adjustment, although anything was better than her life back with Ego so Mantis couldn't complain. "I've gotten lost around the tower a couple of times, but other than that, it's been quite pleasant," Mantis assured the other, face lighting up at the question. "There's so many things to love about Earth, honestly. The food has been very interesting. I've been trying so many new things. I also really like the animals the most, especially the babies ones. There's still so much I know I haven't experienced yet though, so maybe that part's my favorite. That there's just so much to do and love about it."
"Well, that's good," Wanda said with another smile, sitting down beside her. "I know this -- " she gestured vaguely around the space in the tower they were in " -- can be a lot at first. It was for me, at least, and I'm from Earth," she added, teasingly. "What's been your favorite thing down here so far?"
Mantis had known she'd have to talk about her home at some point, although truth be told she would have rather waited a bit longer before the topic had come up. But she was comfortable with Loki, at least, so it wasn't as difficult to open up to him about her life before the Avengers. "I lived with Ego before I came here. It was just me and the Living Planet my entire life. No animals, talking or otherwise, no other living being besides me and my father," she paused a moment, a breathy laugh on her lip as she forced a small smile. "If you've never met Ego, you should be happy about it. He's not exactly what I'd call a 'people person.'"
"Oh. Well, thank the gods," he said under his breath, vanishing the file with a wave of his hand. "If animals here on Earth could talk, I'd be in trouble." Loki looked at her for a moment, before asking, "Where are you from again?"
Mantis smiled, giggling softly at Carol's response. She hadn't really chosen the name for that particular reason, but she enjoyed the reaction she got either way. Her expression became puzzled when Carol said she was going to be a bad influence, from what Mantis could tell she was a very vibrant personality, the kind she couldn't help but be drawn towards. "I don't see how that's possible, but I'd be more than happy to be shown around. There's so much of the city I haven't seen yet. You've been away though?" That comment definitely intrigued her, especially paired with the term 'earthside.' "Where were you traveling?"
"I love it. Of course, I love any species that decapitates the males after they're done with them," she said, with a wicked grin on her face. But it softened as Mantis continued. There was something very sweet about her. "You know, I'm going to be a very bad influence on you. But if you're okay with that, I would love to show you around a little. Not just here, but the city too. I've... been away a long time. Just got back earthside myself. So we can check it out together, take in the sights."
Mantis nodded thoughtfully, her eyes following April's movements. "I think you're right, April. When I first arrived on Earth, everything felt so strange and unfamiliar. I kept comparing it to what I knew, trying to understand it through the lens of my past. But now... I just let myself experience things as they come." She took another sip of her tea, her expression serene. "Accepting who I am now and embracing this new life has brought me so much joy. And having friends like you makes it even better." Mantis glanced at the vegetables April was gathering, scratching her cat behind its ears as he jumped up into her lap. "Are you going to feed your turtles now? Can I come with you? I love watching them eat. They always look so content, and I think Rocket likes them, too."
"Yeah? Well, that's good." April smiled at her, happy to see her friend finally feeling one hundred percent settled into life on earth. She took a sip of her coffee and sat it on the table, before going over to the fridge. "I think you just stopped overthinking it all too, you know?" She pulled out some carrots and various vegetables to bring to her turtles. "Like, once you just accepted this was who you are now and not putting too much thought into it, you settled more." She smiled back at Mantis again. "And you seem alot happier now, too."

"Of course, I can help you navigate this maze of a tower! It can be quite overwhelming at first." Mantis smiled warmly, her empathic abilities already sensing the other's unease. "You're not alone in feeling lost here. Many of us felt the same when we first arrived. But don't worry, you'll find your way around in no time. Where are you trying to get to?"
anna marie was used to being around big groups of people , at least other mutants , but joining a new superhero team has her feeling all sorts of uneasy . avengers hq was completely different to xavier's mansion , she's already lost after wandering the corridors for so long . so she's grateful when she turns the corner and is greeted by a fairly familiar face .
" hey , y'all got a big place here . wont'cha help a girl out ? "
Mantis blinked, her large eyes widening with amusement as she tilted her head, considering the peculiar question. "Oh, well, I've always been told that I am quite small, actually," she replied with a serene smile, her delicate antennae twitching slightly. "But I believe we are exactly the size we are meant to be in this moment. Are you alright?"
"Am I small or are you just really big?" He asked the person in front of him. Honestly he wouldn't have been surprised either way. It wouldn't of been the first time he'd had a few to many drinks and ended up shrinking himself without even realizing.
Mantis grinned at Johnny's reassurance, feeling a surge of confidence as they swayed to the music. Her antennae twitched with excitement, picking up the rhythm of the song as she followed Johnny's lead. Despite the unfamiliarity of Earth's customs, she found herself enjoying the moment, her worries melting away with each step. "Oh, well, this really isn't too difficult at all," she commented after a moment. "Thanks for dancing with me," she said softly, meeting his gaze with gratitude shining in her eyes. "It's really nice to just forget about, you know, everything that's happened. Even if only for a moment."
He smiled and took her hand, leading her to the middle of the dance floor. "I have danced with worse. I promise." Johnny kept his hand in hers and placed his other at her waist. "Besides, this is type of fancy ass dance isn't really custom anymore, so I think a lot of are out of our comfort zones." He smirked, "You're doing fine."
