To teach you, to strengthen you because you might have to face challenges harder than what they presented to you, all alone. Remember that they are here to indirectly help you fulfill your karma. I just watched three episodes of Chernobyl. The series is said to be very accurate. And apart from that the Chief Engineer going into denial is absolutely dumb. He knows the consequence of the core splitting open. Everything they showed is actually very humane. But again to each his own I guess.
