Cat Cuddle Comfort Spell

Cat Cuddle Comfort Spell

Spell-a-Day: Day 26

image

Description: For when you are stressed and need love to feel ok.

Materials:

Amethyst (small)

Cat

Catnip (optional)

Chamomile Tea

Pillows

Blankets (optional)

Notes:

Charge your amethyst beforehand.

You may substitute any pet.

In the event that your furry friend has passed you may substitute a stuffed animal or visualize them. You should also look up a purr simulator in youtube.

Instructions:

Brew the chamomile tea.

Perform any pre-spell rituals.

Place the amethyst under a pillow you will be resting on.

Call your cat. You may need to tempt them to come over and stay with catnip spread on your chest. Wrap yourself in blankets or alternatively wrap both of you in blankets.

Pet them until they purr loudly.

Sip your tea and pet your cat. Repeat these words as necessary:

No matter what happens, my cat will still love me.

His/her purrs wash over me with their healing power,

Calming me and making me whole again.

His/her love heals my heart.

Their unconditional love is a true measure of friendship.

Notes:

This spell is best when done with a cat because a cat’s purr does having healing abilities. If you have another pet you can talk about their kisses in place of the purr, or any other aspect of them.

Take time to allow yourself to slow down and just be loved. Before I was diagnosed with my anxiety disorder, cuddling with my cat was the only way I knew how to cope.

Dedicated to my cat: I still need you.

Crystal Of The Day - 06/20/16 - Quartz

Crystal Of The Day - 06/20/16 - Quartz

I thought I’d start my little series with the most commonly collected crystal!

Chemical Formula: SiO2 Mohs Scale Hardness: 7  Mineral Group: Silicate

Quartz is the second-most common mineral in the Earth’s crust. Chances are, no matter where you are in the world, you can pick up some type of quartz off the ground. Today we’re just going to talk about clear quartz, specifically.

Some notable locations where crystal quartz is found are Minas Gerais, Brazil, Arkansas, USA, and the Herkimer county of New York, USA. The most common quartz points you find on the market are the ones from Brazil. They are mined by the ton every year in huge mining operations, and are very inexpensive. Both Arkansas and New York are famous for having great quality quartz crystals, and both offer different sites where people can come dig for crystals themselves. Herkimer county is specifically known for having a double terminated variety of quartz, that goes by the trade name of Herkimer diamond. Some people try to pass off just any double terminated quartz crystals as Herkimer diamonds, but it is important to note that a crystal is not a “true” Herkimer unless it comes from Herkimer county in New York.

In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, quartz also has industrial uses. Did you ever notice how some watches have the word quartz written on the face? That is because a quartz crystal is used in the watch to regulate the electronic oscillator. Quartz has rather unique electrical properties that make it a great tool for electronics. Quartz is also rather heat resistant, and very hard and durable. Quartz countertops are quite popular for this reason as well!

Metaphysical: Quartz is a super versatile crystal for crystal healing. It’s often used to amplify the effect of other crystals. Quartz is very grounding, and can also be a great tool to use in meditation.

Quartz is often referred to as a “master healer” as it can be used for almost anything!

Buying Quartz: If you are in the market to buy some quartz crystals, here are some helpful tips to keep in mind!

One of the biggest things on the market right now is “aura quartz”. Aura crystals are crystals that have been super heated and sprayed with precious metal fumes to achieve differently colored shinny and iridescent effects. These pieces are always more costly than just the plain quartz. There are lots of different ways these aura pieces can be faked, as well. It is very common for cheaper knockoffs to be made where the quartz is just painted, and the color eventually peels off or fades.

Quartz also has a couple very common knockoffs! Probably the most common is just simple glass. If you see very inexpensive, perfectly clear crystal balls or pyramids, chances are you are looking at glass. A scratch test can be done to differentiate between glass and quartz. Quartz is harder than glass, so if your quartz can scratch a glass bottle, it passes the test. If it fails or struggles to scratch the glass, chances are it is glass and not quartz.

“Smelt quartz” is another term some sellers use. Smelt quartz is very literally just glass. It will often be polished and shaped into the point of a crystal, and often times it is to try to pass it off as real quartz.

Quartz can also be irradiated in order to turn yellow. This is called lemon quartz, and may be falsely sold as citrine. (Citrine is the natural variety of yellow quartz)

Crackle quartz is low quality quartz that has been heated to create cracks, and then dyed. It is very easy to distinguish this, because it is usually very brightly colored with color concentrating in the cracks.

~

I hope this is helpful to you! I have gathered my knowledge over my whole life. I grew up around crystals, and have been in the mineral business for just over 3 years now.

I make by hand jewelry with only all natural gemstones. If you are interested, please feel free to checkout my shop. If you have any additional questions, I would be happy to answer!

“I’m a baby witch! What do I start learning?”

Here’s a quick-and-dirty list of things that I think sets up a good foundation for someone moving forward with magic work and why. They’re also in order of what I think is best approached first. (For a time reference, I recommend the whole thing taking at LEAST a year, but individual steps and overall length will vary in each person.)

Learn basic magical theory. What is happening when you cast a spell? What is grounding? How do correspondences work? Why is X step or tool important? Learn about what it is you’re doing before diving into actual casting. Have a basic grip on how it works.

Some form of divination, even if it’s something as simple as a pendulum. Other people won’t always be there to help you answer questions, validate your interpretation of something, or offer direction. Having some form of divination under your belt helps you avoid dependency on other people. You can more easily answer your own questions, check your own intuition, and take matters into your own hands.

Protection and Cleansing. No matter what path you go down or what type of magic you end up doing, these are two things that every magic worker needs to know how to do, and know how to do it well. They also tend to be fairly straightforward to learn. Cleanse your space, cleanse yourself, cleanse that object, cleanse your grandma. Then protect them. Learn how to set up wards and shields, which brings us to….

Basic energy work. You’ve probably already run into it a lot by this point and it’s fine if you’ve already picked up some things. But now is the time to really focus on it and get comfortable with it. Learn how to confidently sense what’s around you and interact with it, fix gaps in your wards and shields, project your intent into things, you get the idea. Energy work will always be there in a pinch and requires no materials besides your body, and is extremely versatile. Plus, most paths really require at least a base-level understanding of it these days. Can’t hurt.

Start honing your specific path. Here’s where the cookbooks, the old graveyards, the skulls on the shelf, the fairy figurines start really coming into play. If you have an idea of what sort of path you’d like to follow, start really getting into the meat of it! What does it look like? What are the first steps to that type of magic? If for now you’re still eclectic or aren’t sure, then just read what interests you or try more advanced general spells than you have so far.

Go back and do it all again. That’s right. You can also put time into your path or your regular research, but go back and pick up those old books from step one. Read the old articles. Return to the basics and see how your views have become more nuanced, or how you disagree. What details flew over your head the first time? Can you pick up a new form of divination or try something new with your main form? Could those wards and shields be stronger? You get the idea. Once you’ve revisited it, you should have a really solid foundation that will help you no matter what direction you take next!

Other stuff to study on the side: Local folklore, mythology, and types of spirits. You may not want to work with spirits, but sometimes spirits want to work with you! So it’s good to have an idea of what to do if they pop up.  What plants grow in your area? What‘s edible? What is used in healing?  What plants are NOT edible in your area? What’s poisonous?

If you think there’s another important step that you recommend that I didn’t include, feel free to add it! :)

Sea Spell for Astral Travel

A sea spell for any sea witches who wish to astral travel, especially if it is to the ocean. Good for witches who are stuck inland.

Sea Spell For Astral Travel

You Will Need:

🐚 Light Blue Tealights  🐚 White Tealights 🐚 Sand (protection, the sea) 🐚 Sea Salt (protection, the sea) 🐚 Alabone Shell(s) (Meditation, energy, protection) 🐚 Scallop Shell(s) preferably white (travel, protection) 🐚 Glass bowl 🐚 (Optional) Sounds of the beach or sea

Steps:

🐚 If you are using sounds of the beach then play it softly in the background as you perform the spell

🐚 Light your candles and encircle them about your bowl or near it, depending on what your space allows

🐚 In your bowl place your sand then sprinkle salt over it

🐚 “My feet in the sand, the salt in the air”

🐚 Place in your shells as you see fit, into the bowl atop the sand and salt

🐚 “Seashells about me, I’m without a care”

🐚 Sit near the bowl and get yourself comfortable. Close your eyes and listen to the sounds of the beach, feel the energies of the ocean you have brought into your space.

🐚 “So now I travel, across the sea, to the places I desire to be.”

Note: Astral travel can be difficult and takes practice, if it doesn’t work the first time that is alright. Keep at it. Practice, practice, practice.
