everyone says 'prioritize your health' 'look after yourself' until they realize that making your wellbeing your first priority means making everything else a lower priority. and yeah, that's sometimes ok if it's temporary, but if those health issues are chronic? oh boy do they not like it when you actually take their advice. sometimes prioritizing your health means neglecting your work, your household chores, your social life. 'looking after yourself' means not putting your energy into looking after everyone else first. and the same people who tell you to prioritize your health will get upset with you when they realize it means you're no longer priorizing them.
if you have disabled or chronically ill people in your life and you extend them sympathy and tell them to look after themselves when they're feeling sick, but then you get upset at then because they keep canceling plans. please. reevaluate.
american leftists seem extremely focused on anti imperialism (good) but rarely- if at all- discuss decolonization in their own fucking country, despite acknowledging that it is a settler colonial state.

stop making "callout songs" for your petty friend drama for tiktok fame. stop posting your child's trauma for engagement. stop taping strangers for likes. stop putting stories of other people's betrayals and pain that you overheard in public on tiktok as "storytime" and throwing as many identifying details in as you can to make it the world's business. stop making the world into the truman show. fucking hell!
People don’t owe you their downtime! And I don’t mean this in a harsh way, but in a “quit breaking your own heart” way.
It’s so easy to see a friend “active” and reblogging on tumblr, or maybe making a status update on Facebook and feel hurt they haven’t replied to our messages.
Different things take different energy. And someone being “online” but not actively talking to you does not mean they no longer love or care about you.
i really dont want to come off as an asshole and act like im not sympathetic but i think the idea that it is an appropriate thing to do to respond to posts about about positive experiences made by strangers with long and graphic vents about how your own life is nothing like that really has to end. i’m very sorry you’re going through that. but it’s just. really not appropriate.
