Elva raised an eyebrow as Salem came towards her. Once upon a time they were friends, but…he became too chaotic. She missed him, of course, but she missed everyone. He was more in danger close to her than he was on his own, “What have you done?” She demanded, still walking wit him, “Could you look any more suspicious?”
“Yeah, actually, I can,” he retorted, fixing his eyes onto the path in front of them. He knew someone was following him and more than likely it had to due with a stunt he pulled in a bar last week. “And I didn’t do anything that someone else didn’t deserve.” It actually pained Salem to be dragging her into of his messes, knowing how much she wanted to avoid trouble.

Elva frowned, putting her hands on her hips. “Yeah, yeah, you can’t stay out of trouble. It’s nothing serious.” She shook her head, “You know what Salem, I–” She paused, unable to actually swear even given the circumstances, “I am really upset with you!” She shook her head, “If you think for a second I ended our friendship because I didn’t want to be around you, you’re more of an idiot than I thought. I cut everyone out because I didn’t want to hurt them. Because I wanted to protect you from me.” He knew that. He had to know that, “And I have been…” She looked down at her feet, her snowflake pendant glowing, “I have been so alone because of that. But it was worth it because everyone I loved was okay. But if you’re going to screw up and get yourself into trouble anyway then what did I do that for?” She demanded, angry at him again. “Now, I’m…I’m not going to be that person anymore. You’re going to get your shit together if I have to drag you to rehab myself–do you understand?”
Regret and hurt melted together as she yelled at him, telling him her most honest feelings. “But we never asked you to do that! I lost you, Elva. I lost someone that I lo-- cared about.” He caught himself just in time, wanting her to see that it should have been his choice if he wanted to take the risk of being her friend or not. His head was starting to spin more than usual. What did she want from him? He was a loser, plain and simple. His life was so screwed up and the only escape he could see at this point was to literally run away back to his home town. “I’m not going to rehab,” he spat out suddenly, focusing on the word like she had slapped him with it. Going to rehab meant announcing to everyone, including his family, how royally screwed up he really was.
harry: you know i'm down for getting drunk
harry: my dorm is free. i never use it so
salem: i would say my apartment is better but...
salem: it's trashed
salem: any drink requests?
blvcksail:
“Why wouldn’t you be able to drown? You’re not merfolk, are you?” The second question came out more as an accusation than anything else. Despite her own use of the gifts her mother’s blood had given her, her father’s stories had made her wary of her fellow children of the sea. “Well?”
“There’s things out there that can breath underwater that don’t come from the ocean,” he mused, giving no further answer. It was no secret that he came from Halloween Town and aside from his ability, he would have been an odd one anyways. Which explained why he rarely gave a straight answer to anything.
lilxxterror:
“That’s him. Lock, Shock, and Barrel told me all about him.” She heard about all the things he had done from them and from her father. “They said he can pull some of the scariest faces around. Is it true?”
“Those guys -- they’re funny.” The stories about them were at least. “Duh! He’s the scariest guy out there. Nobody does it better than my dad.” It was clear how proud the male was to have Jack Skellington as his father.

seriously? he was more than grateful that they were working towards being in a better place and that he had a chance at being in her life, but he wanted more. he had to take a chance but her obliviousness felt like i slap in the face. “i’m not high enough for this,” he muttered under his breath. “you really don’t get it, elva. i don’t just love you as a friend i’m... i’m in love with you. i don’t expect you to love me back in that way but come on, can’t you at least let me keep whatever pride i have left in tact by acknowledging me as a man.”
i’m not afraid of anything that’s my whole problem
