On the second day of the ceasefire, I want to say that Iām very grateful to everyone who has helped my friends in Gaza. Naderās (@abdalsalam2000) fundraiser has reached almost 88,000 euro, and is only 12,000 away from the final goal. He is a seventeen year old boy who is trying to save his family of eight, which includes his one year old niece Iman and his father Ahmed who suffers from cancer which is going untreated because of the genocide. They need to evacuate to get Ahmed the treatment he needs to survive. Iām very emotional and grateful for the help theyāve received, it means the world to their family and all the people who care about them. I think very often of the people who donated ā¬1,000, that money makes more of a difference than I can put into words. I just want to say that your donations and your words matter intensely, you have the power to show these people that the world is listening and that we care and you want to help, and that can help keep hope up. Theyāve suffered a lot, and continuing to ask for help is difficult. Please continue to give Nader and his family your support and share this post and donate. Your donations can be what saves them.

I do think with news of the ceasefire, everyone should read up on what the ceasefire actually means and what the different phases of the ceasefire are. here's a good source for what we know as of now:

this ceasefire is temporary (as of right now, six weeks long). negotiations will continue but israel is not offering guarantees about continued non-violence. BDS remains important. be vigilant, keep pressure up
rafah crossing will open one week after the initial phase starts
israel will release 2000 prisoners
more aid will get to northern gaza, look out for ways you can help
if the second phase is initiated, israel will do a complete withdrawal from gaza. which means the initial phase will not include that. again i say: BE VIGILANT
if the third phase is reached, reconstruction will begin "under international supervision"
nothing is over, even if this is a relief. do not tape out, do not tune out.

A Massive Database of Evidence, Compiled by a Historian, Documents Israel's War Crimes in Gaza
The report Dr. Mordechai has compiled online ā "Bearing Witness to the Israel-Gaza War" ā constitutes the most methodical and detailed documentation in Hebrew (there is also an English translation) of the war crimes that Israel is perpetrating in Gaza. It is a shocking indictment comprised of thousands of entries relating to the war, to the actions of the government, the media, the Israel Defense Forces and Israeli society in general. The English translation of the seventh, and to date latest version of the text, is 124 pages long and contains over 1,400 footnotes referencing thousands of sources, including eyewitness reports, video footage, investigatory materials, articles and photographs. For example, there are links to texts and other kinds of testimony describing acts attributed to IDF soldiers who were seen "shooting civilians waving white flags, abuse of individuals, captives and corpses, gleefully damaging or destroying houses, various structures and institutions, religious sites and looting personal belongings, as well as randomly firing their weapons, shooting local animals, destroying private property, burning books within libraries, defacing Palestinian and Islamic symbols (including burning Qurans and turning mosques into dining spaces)."

Please take a moment to read this. A Canadian company wants to build a sulfide copper mine near Lake Superior, which holds 21% of the worldās freshwater. The mine would produce 98.5% toxic waste, stored in a dam just two miles from the lake. The dam can only withstand a 1-in-100-year storm, but the area has had two 1-in-1,000-year storms in the past decade. If it breaks, toxic water could flood the lake. Copper sulfide mines in the U.S. have consistently contaminated nearby water sources, and this mine could hurt local communities with lower employment, income, and property values. The company wants $50 million in taxpayer funding to move forward. The Michigan Senate is about to vote, if they donāt get the funding they canāt build it.

And for those people who have access to mobility devices but might benefit from a second chair they can abuse without risking expensive damageā¦
Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.
He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.

ok last thing. but what people fundamentally need to get through their heads is the significance of gaza fundraisers not being the same as like mutual aid when you're helping someone get groceries, because it is a genocide. there is insane deliberate scarcity and prices are unmanageable, because there is nowhere nearly enough for everyone, so only people who can pay can eat. and what positioning individual fundraisers as the only course of action does is quite simply give a tiny percentage of random people whose fundraisers take off the ability to pay those prices while thousands of others can't. and every one of those thousands of people without a fundraiser is suffering through the same inconceivably horrific reality. it is giving a few completely desperate people out of hundreds of thousands a slightly more favorable position in a horrific war economy of imposed scarcity. and what grassroots community kitchens do is try to mitigate in some small way that inconceivable hierarchy of who can pay and who can't, by stretching ingredients as far as they can last to cook meals at large scale and give them out at no cost. and obviously people are still going to send money to their friends and families because this is hell what else are we supposed to do but please just think about that before promoting endless individual fundraisers as somehow the most ethical way to help

Never mention a possible pregnancy/abortion to anyone, especially not through a social media app messaging service such as messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, Snapchat, etc.
Delete all period tracking apps and to start tracking using a planner or physical calendar
Book appointments for a form of birth control if possible, or to always carry condoms for yourself and other
Look into sterilization options if that is the route you want to go down (here is a list of 1000 doctors willing to sterilize you without a fight)
Protect your fellow person, protect the women in your life, the queer people, the disabled people, everyone will be affected by this
Form communities. Tell your people that you love them. Protect one another. Check in on one another. None of us are alone.
please think of the disabled people of gaza. please think of the diabetic people of gaza. please think of the neurodivergent people of gaza. please think of those whose lives are relying on medicine that has either stopped coming in due to the blockade, or is available in such scarcity that its price has skyrocketed.
we're approaching winter. on top of the challenge of securing waterproof tents and sufficiently warm clothing, some diabetic people in gaza have stopped taking their insulin as they can no longer afford it. those who are able to acquire it for now know every shot may be their last.

Mohanad and Farah: War Stole Our Dreams
My wife Farah and I once had a dream home in Gaza, filled with hope. But the war destroyed everything. We lost our jobs, our apartment was bombed, and we were left with only debt.
We married quietly amidst the chaos, and since then, we've been forced to move between shelters and tents, always uncertain and struggling for basic needs. Now, we share a small rented house with other families, still living in fear of what might come next.

I have been chatting with Dina Alanqar @zinaanqar.Ā
She is currently in Gaza with her husband Ahmed and their four young children, the youngest only born in June. Like so many others, they lost their home in the north and have been displaced many times since. Theyāve been struggling with lack of healthcare, clean water, hardships that I can hardly even imagine.
Their family needs funds for travel and accommodations when the opportunity to leave Gaza comes, and for their survival until then.

in my opinion it is essential to make a "right to garden" law that means no one can stop you from growing whatever you want in your yard.
I think it should even apply to renters so a landlord is required to allow you to have a garden

On Monday, the Knesset passed two bills; one barring UNRWA from activity within Israel, and another banning Israeli authorities from any contact with UNRWA ā revoking the 1967 treaty that allows UNRWA to provide services to Palestinian refugees in areas under Israelās control.
The move is expected to severely restrict the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) from operating in territories Israel occupies.
