Maternity kits, medical threads and scissors, water testing kits, anesthetics, mobile desalination units, etc do you see the pattern? Israel is not only starving the people of Gaza but it also wants to ensure the spread of disease through contaminated water and surgical tools, as well as ensuring injured Palestinians suffer through horrendous pain.
It's beyond sickening.
Please help the family of a non-verbal autistic child (who has been losing weight because he only eats certain kinds of food, largely unavailable during this time) leave Gaza!
And here is Keryn Narkel, the last member of the Horizon crew.
Keryn is a bounty hunter, and she is very good at her job. She is known for always catching her targets and bringing them in largely unharmed. She has a sort of rivalry with another bounty hunter named Rayka, but honestly Keryn does not really see her as a rival at all as much as Rayka thinks they are. She does some work for the Insurgency, mainly tracking down members that are on the run and helping them get to a safe place, and she gets a contract to find Aala and Nila before the Alliance do.
This Avalis (aka Avi).
He is a volcarnirin and can use fire magic. He is Irel’s second in command and best friend and the only one other than K8 willing to deal with their flying. Avi is pretty calm and collected, however he is a force to be reckoned with in a fight, not just due to his size (he’s 7’0ft tall and muscular), but also due to his species having the natural ability to superheat their body to the point of being able to melt through metal, which he does not hold back on using against opponents.
Avalis cares a lot about the Insurgency, and over the years he has become close with another major member of it named Ria (I will talk about her in the future), as the two of them are sparring partners as their very different sizes and combat styles work well together. The two also struggle to sleep, so will often have late night sessions to help deal with their nightmares.
Here they are, the leader of the Insurgency.
Irel Vanik is a human and has been in the Insurgency for 6 years and been leading it for 2. They are an amputee (both of their legs are prosthetics from the waist down) and they are a very skilled mechanic who spends a lot of time fixing and building things when they’re not running the Insurgency. Irel’s best friend and second in command is Avalis and they worked together since Irel recruited him 4 years before the story starts. They allowed the AI system within their ship (the Horizon) to develop and eventually gave it the name K8 (pronounced Kate) and while the two bicker, they make a great team and Irel has plans to build them a body to actually move around in that is not a ship. They are generally well liked even if they do have some strange tactics at times (Avalis is their impulse control). They are passionate about the cause and are determined to take the IGA down.
This is Nila, Aala’s younger sister.
Nila is 10 and is very curious about pretty much everything. She looks up to Aala even if she wishes she got to see her more (well, that does actually happen since their homeworld gets invaded). Nila’s magic isn’t normal. She can see what magic others can channel. As far as Aala and her family know, this is a unique ability, and because of this the Intergalactic Alliance want Nila. Her family refused, and that is what results in the invasion of Ocera.
Okay so this is Aala, one of the main characters of Onto the Horizon. She’s the perspective character of book 1 (Tides of Change) and is Nila’s older sister. Aala is a finaalin, a species native to the ocean planet of Ocera. She can channel water magic like most of her species can and loves to create music, but often does not have the time to do so due to her duties as a princess. She loves Nila dearly, but when Ocera is invaded by the Intergalactic Alliance, she’s forced to flee with her sister leaving the rest of their family behind. Aala is willing to do anything to keep Nila safe, even if that means working with the Insurgency.
Btw, I’m just doing quick headshots for these introductions as I was originally going to do a full group shot but that is taking longer to finish than I had hoped so quick drawings it is.
So a hyperfixation change means me talking about different characters lol. The thing is I also have to explain some lore for TOSAM before I can talk about plot or characters or nothing will make sense so here we are.
Magic So, we’re starting with the magic system. A magic user is referred to as a channeler and the act of using magic is referred to as channeling. Magic is an invisible force that exists everywhere and interacts with all living things. Some people are able to channel it to cause things to happen, but not everyone can. Every species is capable of channeling magic, however not every member of a species will be able to channel magic. Different species have different numbers of their species that can use magic. For example, around 40% of humans can use magic, but 98% of finaalin can channel magic. Someone is either born a channeler or not. There are seven kinds of magic: Fire, water, earth, air, light, dark and mind.
The Creators (or a very, very breif summary about them) The Creators were said to be the first species to exist. They were made from magic itself and they may have come from what was called the Source, although exactly what that was has been lost to history. They travelled the universe for millions of years, and supposedly aided in the evolution of most (if not every) intelligent species, but again, historians are not sure. Information on the Creators is difficult to get for one reason: the Blackout. The Blackout lasted for 10,000 years and was the result of the laws of magic within the universe being rewritten. This was caused by a Creator named Herene, who in order to stop the Devourers (Creators with a defect which caused them to feed on magic, which ever living creature needs to survive), was willing to cause the death of her own species to wipe them out. Creators had to return to their homeworld every ten years to survive, and when Herene changed the laws of magic, the majority of technology stopped working, including spaceships. Usually that would not have been a problem for the Creators, but the changes also locked them into the form of a mortal lifeform, leaving them stuck on whatever world they happened to be on. I will talk about Herene again at somepoint, but those are all the basic details you need to know on that.
The Blackout, Jump Engines and Exploration The Blackout completely wiped out space travel for 10,000 years as species had to completely relearn how technology (and their own magic) worked. The first to redevelop space travel was a species called the tseri, who invented the first Jump Engine, which allowed for what was essentially teleportation. Jump Engines do need time to charge up with magic to successfully do a Jump, and they do have a limit on how far they can go (I’m still figuring out numbers, maths is not my strong point) without the risk of exploding. The time after the Blackout were labelled the Discovery Years as the tseri introduced Jump Engines to other species. Now this period of time was both amazing and terrible due to the spread of technology and resources, but a lack of law and order also led to things like piracy, slavery and crimes in general. DY 442 was the year a new Jump Engine was developed so that they could reach another galaxy in the matter of a few weeks. The travel to the second galaxy did not do much more than add to the already chaotic times and both galactic and intergalactic wars became fairly common. In the year DY 1879, a group of planets decided to band together to form the Intergalactic Alliance, which helped to establish law and order at the time. After the Alliance was formed, the third galaxy was discovered.
The Intergalactic Alliance (aka the IGA) and the Insurgency So, while the IGA started out well, over the 800 or so years it has been around it has grown more and more corrupt. Now I won’t go too into things, but let’s just say the invasion of Ocera is not the worst of the crimes they have commited. I will also go into the exact structure of the IGA itself in it’s own post as this is already far too long. There have been many rebel groups over the years, however one of the largest modern ones is the Insurgency (they actually didn’t name themselves that, it was what the IGA called them and after everyone else started to refer to them as that, they rolled with it). The Insurgency itself is a large group of seperate rebel groups who joined together forming one big group. It was originally led by Ezren Heris, but after her death, Irel took over. On the whole, the Insurgency are regarded as criminals and little information is shared about them by the IGA, which is something Irel wants to change but that gets into the plot of book 1.
I really wanted to do a bit of an infodump on some Shadow Guard stuff so here we are.
A variant is the term used to describe a person with superpowers in this universe. Their abilities can be anything from shapeshifting to pyrokinesis to super speed. Variants normally have one ability, but can have more (not counting any secondary abilities caused by their first, like a shapeshifter having better senses). Abilities are genetic. Variants are born with their powers. Many variants are born to entirely human parents, however as time goes on, more and more are born to either a human and variant parents or two variant parents. A child with a human and variant parent will normally end up having powers, but it is possible for them to not end up with powers. A child where both parents are variants will always end up with powers.
Variant abilities are often passed down genetically, although they do crop up where two humans are the parents, and no one entirely knows why. Children born with a variant parent(s) who end up with powers will either have the same ability (or a similar ability) to one of their parents. Sometimes they may end up with versions of both of their parent’s powers if they were both variants but usually they will be weaker versions of those powers. They can also end up with entirely different abilities from their parents, but that is not common.
Variant powers normally manifest just before puberty, although some have their powers manifest earlier or later. Sometimes variants will be able to use a very weak version of their power until they reach a certain age where they then are able to use a stronger version.
Most of the stories in the world so far take place in the UK btw, so different areas of the world reacted to variants differently, but I’ll probably go more into that in another post.
Variants were rumoured to exist for a long time, however the first comfirmed variants appeared in World War 1, where some variants decided to become the first superheroes and supervillains (or at least the first ones known to the public). Now variants ended up with a very mixed reputation after WW1 and WW2. This led to the creation of the Variant Protection Act. This meant that any time a variant’s powers manifested, they were required by law to report that they were a variant and what their abilities are, although many variants are not recorded due to many fearing them so parents hiding the fact their children had abilities. While the VPA did eventually state that no variant should be discriminated against, it does hapoen fairly often especially if the variant’s ability causes them to have a non-human appearance. Variants are banned from all sporting competitions, and many are not allowed to join the military, police or emergency services in general as many beleive their abilities would be a risk.
Normal humans often feared variants due to media reporting far more on criminal variants and in general a lot of misinformation was spread. Some religions also deemed variants as evil due to their abilities. Superhero work (well, specifically vigilante work) is deemed illegal, similar to how it is in our world, however the penalties against variants are much worse than normal humans as they carry much longer sentences. This is until the late 90s, where the original Shadow Guard are the only reason the police were able to catch up to the dangerous team known as the Mercury Guild, but that puts superhero work into a grey area where it ends up being up to the police in the area if they want to arrest them or not.
I also have a lot of fanfic stories. Some of these I have started posting on AO3 (I just go by GoatinaCoat over there) and all of them are basically me sticking ocs into these universes and making shenanigans happen.
These are just all my long running fics I have planned. I do some shorter stuff which I won’t be counting on this list.
Grimm: New Blood: This is a Grimm sequel fic which follows the kids of the main cast as well as some ocs. It mainly follows Kelly and Hazel (one of the triplets) as detectives who like Nick and Hank before them have to solve wesen related cases. Old enemies are stirring though, looking for vengeance.
Was it all worth it?: A Star Wars oc fic. It follows Ceran Ormara from his life as a padawan through the Clone Wars and during the time of the Empire.
The Stars are Home: A Star Trek fic which starts by following Seren and Akoli, a half vulcan and klingon, during the 27th Century. The pair become unlikely friends and it follows their lives, through the joy and pain.
Hopes and Dreams au: My take on the characters of DC. It’s a combination of a lot of different canons, and some of my own ideas.
Bats of Gotham: The Batman story of the Hopes and Dreams au. Part 1 follows Bruce as he adopts Dick Grayson and while figuring out how to be a father, he has to figure out the identity of the villain known as Scarecrow.
Legendary Ties: A pokemon au story where it’s revealed certain people are connected to legendary pokemon which is why they are able to save the world. Cody is a pokemon ranger who at one time helped defeat Team Plasma, but his life takes a turn when Team Fable comes after him and the others connected to the Legendary pokemon.
Unamed Digimon story: Milly only trusts 2 people: her dad and her partner digimon, Dorumon. When the fact she’s a tamer gets revealed, she begrudgingly ends up working with Ray and Alex and their partner digimon Fanbeemon and Liollmon.
Unamed Spidersona story: Sawyer is the vigilante known as Orange Spider. They actually study arachnids, specialising in scorpions (yes they are annoyed they got spider powers) and while not working in a lab they patrol the streets of New York. They are trying to figure out the cause of the fire that killed their grandfather, while making sure no one has to suffer like they did.
Okay, so I’m going to be giving a brief summary on each of my original wips. I’ll do a seperate ones for my fanfics. Each of this will likely get there own more in depth explanations later, but this should give the gist of each one.
Also, some of these stories do not have official names yet. Making titles is hard.
The Shadow Guard: A story set in a universe with superheroes. There are multiple phases of the story, each one following a different generation of the superhero team known as The Shadow Guard as their world evolves as Variants (people with superpowers) become more common and accepted.
Tales of Stars and Magic: The title of a sci fi universe with multiple stories in it. Magic is a natural part of life and different alien species use it in many different ways.
Onto the Horizon: The first story in TOSAM. It follows the crew of the ship ‘The Horizon’ as they fight with the Insurgency to defeat the Intergalactic Alliance (IGA). Book 1 is called ‘Tides of Change’ and follows Aala as she has to protect her sister (Nila) as their homeworld was invaded and they end up meeting Keryn, a bounty hunter who dislikes the IGA, Irel, the leader of the Insurgency, and Avalis who is Irel’s second in command.
Adventures of the Aurora: A new Jump Engine has been invented and it makes it possible to explore a fourth galaxy. Captain Karys Alvali is in charge of the scout ship Aurora, and with her crew, they start to explore the new galaxy.
Blackout: The story of Herene, the Creator who has to make a horrible desicion to protect the universe from the threat of the Devourers.
Luna Stone: Luna is an 11 year old sorceress who is about to start her first year at Peregrine’s Academy of Magic. She has to try and live up to her family legacy, and while she’s certainly powerful enough magic wise, she wants to befriend who she wants. Her life only gets more complicated when she starts getting strange dreams of a phoenix.
Unamed Luna sequel: After the events of Luna’s story, the magical community has changed. When it’s discovered that Jay (a human) is able to see magic, panic begins to spread over the possibility the Great Spell is failing.
Unamed Luna prequel: King Florian is one of the most famous historical figures for magic users. He existed before the Great Spell was cast, and the human (along with his husband and knights) put a stop to the evil sorceress Oriana. The story follows him as he has to gather a group strong enough to take her down, and try and help both magical and non magical communities get along.
Myths and Tales: Will lives a normal life until he’s attacked by a strange creature. He is saved by Anpu (more commonly known as Anubis) and gets dragged into the lives of the many gods and goddesses while trying to figure out why certain gods want him dead.
Unamed fantasy story (aka Everyone’s a bard): When an ancient threat rises once more, Conri is chosen to find the others capable to defeat the Wraith. Even if he doesn’t want to, he isn’t given another choice.
The Unknown: A collection of short stories that follow people who ended up interacting with entities nicknamed Unknowns. Their origin is not known, and while organisations like the Unknown Defence Department are doing their best to unravel the mystery, it is a difficult job.
Hi y’all. I’m Aspen (he/they) and I’m a writer with autism.
This is my main blog which I am using to reblog Palestine content. I was originally planning to use it to post about my stories, mainly the novel I am writing, however I didn’t feel comfortable talking about my silly stories after reblogging a fundraiser that someone litterally needs to live.
I am unable to donate for personal reasons, however I will reblog.
Anyway, I would like to make it very clear I myself am queer, trans and disabled, and that anyone who does not beleive in basic human rights for everyone and that the murder of innocent people is justified should not interact with my stuff.
Anyway, thank you for reading.
-Aspen
My messages are no longer open as the most I can do is reblog and what Palestinians need is money. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time when they could be messaging someone who can give them what they need most.
