FOUND AN ACTUALLY WORKING WAY OF FIXING CRACKED PLATFORMS FOR GOOD.

FOUND AN ACTUALLY WORKING WAY OF FIXING CRACKED PLATFORMS FOR GOOD.
FOUND AN ACTUALLY WORKING WAY OF FIXING CRACKED PLATFORMS FOR GOOD.

Just screw them together using those flat metal sheets with holes you get at the hardware store.

You need at least four screws on both sides for it to feel secure. I had space for more so I used 6 on each - would make it 8 but i don't want to drill inside of the actual shoe so that i don't poke myself with metal while I walk (even tho there is a flip flop inside the shoes bc they were too big and i needed to make em smaller, better safe than sorry)

First i lined up the sheet so that it didn't scratch the floor and marked all the holes with a marker, pre cut the holes with an exacto knife and just screwed my screws right in.

Mind you despite having hexagonal heads they are not bolts, but screws. You need a sharp end so that it can actually penetrate into the sole and catch onto the rubber on the inside. I used hexagonal heads because I genuinely did not realise that was the kind of screw i bought. Also make sure they fit inside the holes in your metal sheet.

FOUND AN ACTUALLY WORKING WAY OF FIXING CRACKED PLATFORMS FOR GOOD.

The patched shoe feels slightly heavier but im fine to just deal with that until the other one inevitably cracks in a few months and i can patch it up too and the weight will even out.

Total repair cost: 6.15pln (1.2usd)

Total cost counting the previous repair attempt: 15pln (3usd)

I looked into getting new shoes but good quality models cost about 300-400pln (60-80usd, nearly out of my budget) and the model I made mine out of is first of all an aliexpress knock-off and second of all, still 150pln (30usd) which is too much for me to pay for shoes im gonna instantly rip for parts and resew. Not to mention I am not buying any suspiciously cheap apparel from aliexpress bc thats drop shipped shit made by underpaid children workers. That site is for buying 3000 jump rings at once only.

Tangent aside, by not getting the shoes I saved about 70$ which i am very happy with.

I need people to stop glorifying the 4B movement in Korea, from a Western (white) perspective. Stop it. If you are blissfully unaware of this (having not been on TikTok) - in theory, it makes sense. No sex with men, no dating men, no child rearing with men, and no marriage with men. But. BUT. Feminists in Korea are problematic AF. I know this from both personal experience (having been on the receiving end of their ire online) and everything I've read about them, in Korean. I see all these white TikTokers (and even some in the Korean diaspora) fawning over how "we" in the US need this and, no. If your feminism is transphobic, hates gay men, hates men in general, that's not the feminism I'd endorse. Why is Korean feminism transphobic? In 2020, Korean feminists ACTIVELY CAMPAIGNED AGAINST a woman who was accepted to Sookmyung University. An all womens' university. But she was a woman, you say. What could be their problem? According to Korean feminists, they didn't want a "man" in their space. Because she is a trans woman. This is not unusual for Korean feminists. Having lived there for 5 years, to some extent, I understand their anger against misogyny. But if you are truly against the toxic patriarchy that exists in Korea, you must also help dismantle military conscription because that is where a lot of men become radicalized, bullied, etc etc and "grow up" to be the most toxic form of men seen on this earth. But Korean feminists don't give AF about that and in fact, I've read a lot of them express that it's good for men to suffer. Guess what? That view is internalized misogyny and toxic patriarchy, too. And I don't want to hear it about the movement being so "young". Korean women have stepped up to the plate before in our history. We are capable of better than this fucking nonsense. It's a bunch of transphobic, gay hating radicals that have hijacked what was supposed to be about social justice. WOMAD (link is to the Wikipedia article, not their site) and Megalia are the two sites they stem from. It is the most toxic group of people I've ever had the displeasure to encounter online. Any form of criticism is, at best, ignored and worst - I've been "called out" for being Korean-American, and therefore, to "butt out" of "Korean issues". Amongst other bullying I've personally received. And yes, not just on forums but on public articles that I've commented on.

I know it's a catchy title and it appeals in theory but please, please do not glorify these transphobes and TERFs. They don't deserve your attention.

It‘s scary to see how very important european petitions get no visibility whatsoever. We had a basic income petition last year which failed because not enough people knew about it. Now we have a „tax the rich“ one that only lasts until october this year and only has around 250k out of 1 mio. signings.

Most EU people go through their every day life w/o knowing about them. There are no ads, no marketing…nothing. I know that costs money though one might think important petitions that lead to a better and progressive life would be supported by the government or ministries in some way, but nooooo

And why should they? It’s petitions that would help out the poor and middle class, but endanger capitalism and their exploitation, sooo: government and business leads for example.

So here the link for those who are interested:

So I Think I Forgot To Post About It Here But I'm Knitting My Own Wedding Dress.

So I think I forgot to post about it here but I'm knitting my own wedding dress.

Edit to add materials: I'm using suri silk alpaca (apparently I'm slightly allergic to mohair?), and glass beads for the silvery and pearl beads.
