THE PATCHWORK IS DONE!!
It has been a labour of love but I’m really happy with how it all came out. This is pre-spikes and buttons, all the patches are on there and I even unexpectedly received another “no terfs on our turf” patch that fits like a charm as well.
Bonus pic of the area I’m honestly proudest of ^
If you can read notes, good for you!
The other progress days are in the tag “gender jacket reform”!!
"nobody is judging you" wrong, my mother is seemingly always judging every single stranger she sees
This was so funny to make xd

Info: Watkeburt is a song from a well known band "De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig" (transating to Today's Youth) Watskeburt was super popular when it aired alot of ppl still know it to this day, orange is our national color thats why we wear it on Kingsday (Koningsdag) our king's birthday, Willem Alexander van Oranje. LuckyTV is a Dutch voice over channel and i have a Scottish friend who used it to learn Dutch. He learned a few words (rn he uses duolingo) :D
When I was a kid my aunt gave me my sign name in NGT, and I love how she composed it because it's pretty much a pun on both the way my spoken name sounds and who I am as a person. So it looks a little like the words for "sun" ("zon") and "yes" ("ja") put together, evidently based on the similarity to "Sonja". But instead of just combining those two words, or even simply fingerspelling my name which would have roughly given the same effect, she spliced the two. It starts out with a fingerspelled s, then instead of spelling the o, there is a modified sign for sun (facing the viewer, rather than the signer), followed by a fingerspelled n. The closest way I can describe the vibe for hearing people is it looks like this:
s☀️n
This is already objectively great of course, but it gets better. The second syllable starts with the swoop for the finger j. Instead of simply tacking a finger a to the back of it, it then switches into the sign for "yes", but with an additional wiggle, because well, I hardly ever did sit still.
Quietly losing my mind over the fact that Elon Musk has straight up orchestrated a coup of our executive branch and like....I don't even know what, if any, system we have in place to fix this. Like... He's just taken control of the money and locked out the actual appointed officials. What the fuck.
Just screw them together using those flat metal sheets with holes you get at the hardware store.
You need at least four screws on both sides for it to feel secure. I had space for more so I used 6 on each - would make it 8 but i don't want to drill inside of the actual shoe so that i don't poke myself with metal while I walk (even tho there is a flip flop inside the shoes bc they were too big and i needed to make em smaller, better safe than sorry)
First i lined up the sheet so that it didn't scratch the floor and marked all the holes with a marker, pre cut the holes with an exacto knife and just screwed my screws right in.
Mind you despite having hexagonal heads they are not bolts, but screws. You need a sharp end so that it can actually penetrate into the sole and catch onto the rubber on the inside. I used hexagonal heads because I genuinely did not realise that was the kind of screw i bought. Also make sure they fit inside the holes in your metal sheet.
The patched shoe feels slightly heavier but im fine to just deal with that until the other one inevitably cracks in a few months and i can patch it up too and the weight will even out.
Total repair cost: 6.15pln (1.2usd)
Total cost counting the previous repair attempt: 15pln (3usd)
I looked into getting new shoes but good quality models cost about 300-400pln (60-80usd, nearly out of my budget) and the model I made mine out of is first of all an aliexpress knock-off and second of all, still 150pln (30usd) which is too much for me to pay for shoes im gonna instantly rip for parts and resew. Not to mention I am not buying any suspiciously cheap apparel from aliexpress bc thats drop shipped shit made by underpaid children workers. That site is for buying 3000 jump rings at once only.
Tangent aside, by not getting the shoes I saved about 70$ which i am very happy with.
love this dude and his lace code ideologies (funnily enough I wore my yellow and purple laces to watch this) Yellow= Anti-Fascism/Anti-Racism (its region dependent), Blue= Killed a Cop
