Hi everyone! When doing love readings for people, I tend to always mention the word ‘soulmate’ which is why I thought I’d actually make a post about the topic. The term can be a bit confusing due to the various connotations that it’s accumulated over time. Most people imagine that meeting their soulmate will unfold like a fairytale and instantly lead to happily ever after! But this isn’t always the case! You’ll meet several different soulmates in your lifetime, all of them serving different purposes. Soooo let’s get into this shit! (starting in no particular order!)
1. Platonic Soulmate: The platonic soulmate will manifest as your best friend and partner in crime! There’s a sense of effortlessness when you two meet. There’s no hesitation and you feel a sense of ease when you’re around. Your platonic soulmate is the person you know was destined to be your Maid of Honor or Best Man haha. The platonic soulmate is usually the simplest out of all the connections as they exist in your path to make life more enjoyable. Some people may mistake a platonic soulmate for a romantic/companion soulmate but they’ll usually both realize that they’re better off as friends. Someone who is asexual or aromantic will likely stay with their platonic soulmate as they don’t feel the need to connect with anyone else. This can be extremely fulfilling!
2. Soul Family: Ahhhh soul families are a total fucking blessing! Members of a soul family all come from the same branch of consciousness and have similar life paths. Soul families can be literally anyone who has the same interests, beliefs, mindset, and energetic vibration as you! The key aspect of a soul family is that our souls were created in the same dimension/planet and we always incarnate together. Our soul family has travelled the same paths and have had to learn the same lessons. All members of a soul family are working towards the same mission. I say they’re a blessing because I find it extremely comforting to know that you have other people who feel and think in the same way that you do! Your actual family may be a part of your soul family but not always. There are definitely members of your soul family who you may not actually ever meet. Some soul groups have 2,000 people while others have 20. It simply depends on your mission!
3. Past Life Soulmate: Our past life soulmate(s) are usually romantic and they’re someone who is returning from a past life. When you feel as though you instantly recognize someone, this is a clear sign that they’re a past life connection. Your past life soulmate can reincarnate with you every life time or only occasionally. Either way, this person is usually in your life to remind you of something you’ve forgotten about your own soul. They subconsciously bring back information from a past life in order to deepen your spirituality. This could be a long term or short term relationship! Past life soulmates are a part of your soul family!
4. Karmic Soulmates: Ohhh the lovely karmics… Karmic Soulmates are like fucked up past life soulmates. They’re from your past life but they show up in this life because there’s an unlearned lesson or unsettled business between you two. This karmic imbalance desperately needs to be resolved before you can progress. To be fair, karmics don’t always have to be horrible! They serve a very important purpose though. I’d even go as far as to say that they’re the most necessary. They present challenges and conflicts in order to make you stronger. Your first heartbreaks are usually a result of karmic relationships. They’re kind of like stepping stones to your twin flame or romantic soulmate! Karmics are almost always temporary and can be friends, family, or lovers.
5. Healing Soulmate: Healing soulmates usually emerge after a karmic relationship ends. Or after a defeating period in your life. They can come in the form of a friend, a parent, a teacher, a lover, or even a stranger. They offer you comfort and help set you back on your path. Healing soulmates are usually temporary as they mostly exist in our lives for a specific issues. Some healing soulmates may stick around and assist you with future conflict as well, though!
6. New Soul: This one is pretty straight forward! Not everyone you meet will be from a past life. A new soul is someone we’ve never had contact with. They usually show upwhen we’ve completed all karmic trials or, for whatever reason, have rejected the romantic soulmate/twin flame partner. This person will spark intrigue, curiosity, and fascination in you. We’ll crave a connection with this person but things usually happen slower with a new soul because of the unfamiliarity. Most karmic relationships start off as a new soul that wasn’t originally in our Soul Contract. Which can be vv exciting!
7. Romantic/Companion Soulmate: Your romantic soulmate is often described as ‘The One’! They’re your perfect match in this lifetime and the person that your higher self decided to unite with. Of course, you can always stray from your soul contract but most people don’t! The romantic soulmate will offer you so much joy, happiness, and emotional depth. They’re the person you’re likely to marry and will help to move you along your path with an open heart. When we unite with a companion soulmate, we experience unconditional love and bliss. Every relationship will still have it’s problems but you’ll be able to work through these things in harmony. The romantic soulmate can be a new soul or past life connection!
8. The Twin Flame: Not everyone has a twin flame in this lifetime or a twin flame at all! But your twin flame is the perfect REFLECTION of you. You two are parts of the same consciousness. It’s still possible to be whole without your twin flame but, when you two come together, it creates something incredibly powerful. I made an entire post on twin flames so feel free to search for it on my page!
💖💖💖💖💖💖
Keep in mind that you might have multiple types of each soulmate in your life & that’s okay! Alternatively, you might not have one of these relationships. Most people will experience 7/8, but nothing is guaranteed. I’d love to hear about your ow experiences with the 8 types of soulmates! Thank you so much for reading! ✨✨
Reblog if you really love Hermes, like if you really love Hermes.
The four witches of Greenheaven
Despite the different personalities they have the strongest bond and together protect Greenheaven and its inhabitants.
Always saying they want to be alone but actually enjoys spending time with friends, deathly loyal, mind over heart because cannot afford to hurt again, cold but fragile like glass, empathic but this doesn't mean they care, complains when their friends come visit but secretly enjoys it, damaged, but because of that even more beautiful, quiet whispers and sarcasm, helps out lost ghosts in exchange for interesting stories, dresses and clothes from another time, black humor and sharp remarks, in love with Shakespeare
Aesthetic: dried up roses and specks of dust floating in the morning light, old abandoned houses frozen in time, the howling of the wolves at the moon, trembling candles and silver rings, dragon breath and foggy November mornings, black tea with rose blossoms, faded photographs and the echo of clock chimes, lace cuffs and black cardigans, dramatic black witchy hats, poetry books worn out from use, biting their lip until it bleeds
Song: ilomilo by Billie Eilish
Always with their head in the clouds, curious, easily bored and easily distracted, prefers willful ignorance over harsh reality, dreamer, always fascinated by the most simple things, sees entire worlds and deep meanings where nobody else would, charismatic, forgetful and a bit clumsy, the one people come for advice, 'yes, but what if...', keeps a journal, driven by curiosity, spends hours talking with the elves, has the oddest sleeping schedules, fascinated by humankind
Aesthetic: dangling earrings with the sun and the moon, earl grey tea and milk, dusty shelves full of old books, libraries and soft whispers, bright eyes sparkled alive by curiosity, bronze rimmed dresses, reading by the fire on rainy autumn days, steam and the sound of quill writing on paper, fairylights, stars painted on the ceiling, dew on a spiderweb on a early morning, messy handwriting, pocket watches and old coins
Song: Moonsea by Phidel
Likes to take long walks in the woods, talks to faes and animals, calls their plants 'my lovelies' and sings to them everyday, lives in a cabin in the woods, keeps what they find in the forest in the large pockets of their old coat, determinated, has befriended the fox family that lives near their house, has more animal friends than you could count, never following the path, a caring soul, doesn't like humans, grow their own herbs and veggies, has a soft spot for animals, the kindest if you don't step on their flowers, eccentric in the most interesting way, prefers the company of animals and magical beings (less drama)
Aesthetic: the fresh smell of grass in the morning, the shine of the sunrays glistening on the dew at sunrise, dried up herbs, daisies flower crowns and nuts, wild berries and fingerless gloves, green tea and the comforting purrs of a cat, wild hair and freckles, strawberries and water color paint, long patient sighs, iced almond milk, stained glass windows, knowing glances,
Song: Dirty Paws by Of Monsters and Men
Loves sunlight, a literal ball of pure sunshine, they protect, the mum friend™️, empathetic, always knows how to handle things, optimist, talks to house spirits and gives freshly baked pastries to the neighbor family of gnomes, loves their friends more than anything, always knows how to make people smile and comfortable, laugh with their whole body, the scariest when angry, they are there when you need them, their eyes sparkle with affection, adamant but gentle, dances with pixies
Aesthetic: golden hour, blanket forts, loud laugh and contagious smiles, warm in the most reassuring way, old yellow sweaters and flour stained jeans, singing aloud and dancing around, 'WHAT do you mean you can't remember the last time you've EATEN ?!?!!!!', caramel and toffee, the warmth of sunrays on your face, the smell of baked croissants in the morning, dandelions and buttercups, Chai tea and ginger biscuits

┬┴┬┴┤・ω・)ノ Hey!
Sorry, but just a small note (≧▽≦)
Aside from the names and the titles (I got inspired from them so I decided to leave them like that), the character descriptions and aesthetics are all in gender neutral pronouns because I don't want anyone to be offended nor left out 💜
Hope you enjoy!

When deciding to add a religious component into your practice, there’s a lot of factors to consider.
What practices are closed to me?
What kind of relationship do I want to build with the Divine?
How do I practice a religion that most believe to be long gone?
Have I dealt with any negative experiences/beliefs/mindsets that may be hard to let go of from my old religious practices?
While all of these are important, I want to focus on a simple but crucial distinction within deity work- what it means to respect or honor a deity compared to devotion to a deity.
Respect:
Respecting a deity is basically extending common courtesy towards Divine entities that you are not directly involved with. Speaking of them with respect and engaging in discussion of theological differences without deliberate contempt or ridicule.
Why? Well, for one, I think it’s a good idea not to antagonize a being I can’t even comprehend, even if I don’t believe in them. But primarily, it’s an extension of my respect towards those of different faiths. It’s important to note that respecting a deity doesn’t mean respecting people or organizations who use their faith as justification to harm others. It doesn’t mean agreeing or supporting every aspect of a religion’s theology.
My common courtesy does not extend to religious leaders within the Catholic church that have refused to apologize or take responsibility for the decades of abuse of Indigenous children.
Respect is simply having good manners. It’s how we want others to treat our deities, symbols, and traditions.
Honor:
Honoring a deity is when you believe in a deity, you engage in practices with/for/associated with them but you do not have a personal commitment to a relationship with them.
For example, I honor all of the deities of the Hellenic pantheon. I might make offerings on days of significance or participate in specific festivals but I don’t have a dedicated altar space or have a committed practice of worship. And I also don’t honor all of the Hellenic deities in the same way or with the same frequency. I honor Artemis and Dionysus more than others because of personal connection.
I think it’s important for polytheistic pagans not to feel pressured into honoring every single deity within that pantheon. Setting aside the 12 Olympians, there are dozens of deities within the Hellenic pantheon. Learning and feeling confident enough to work with 1 deity is already challenging, so please be kind to yourself.
Devotion:
Devotion is making the commitment to a personal relationship with a deity. It takes a lot of time and emotional energy to devote yourself to a deity, lots of learning and understanding of them and their traditions.
There’s no framework for how to devote yourself or if you should become devoted to a deity. It’s a very personal journey and it’s impossible for anyone to tell you exactly what to do if you’re interested in a deity. I can offer advice about my experience with Apollo, but your experience with Him will be completely unique to you.
Devotion to a deity as a practice also looks very different. I have a dedicated altar, I pray, I make offerings and celebrate festivals. But if your relationship with a deity doesn’t include any of that? That is okay. Especially if you’re a solitary practitioner and learning on your own- the Divine are patient and understanding. We’re human and I really believe that the Divine prefer you at your most genuine rather than perfection. Especially if that fear of not being “good enough” is what’s keeping you from establishing that relationship in the first place.
I hope that helps clarify the differences. You can always send a message or an ask with questions on deity work or other witchy topics. Just know that with deity work in particular, it’s hard to get specific answers because of how personal that journey is.
How do you perform deity work? What’s something you love about your particular path or pantheon?
Brightest blessings! - Kate
I've been struggling with depression for some time now and I've been having a lot of issues practicing my craft since the lack of energy and motivation, so I decided to compile a list of simple routine things you can try to add to your daily life to get you back on the craft and maybe make you feel better :]
theres no instant cure to depression but there are ways to make it a little less bad, and little by little get you back on your feet !! these may not work for everyone as I am writing down things that work for me and just simple ways I use to incorporate the craft into my daily life. please please please also seek prefessional help if you're able to !! talk to friends and family, you're loved and cared for !! google depression self help tips for more tips, I know most of them may sound dumb or trivial or useless but it is so worth a shot adhering to them for some time, maybe you will notice an increase in your mood :D
1. veiling
when I go out, I wear a scarf on my head to protect my energy or keep me in a good mood, depending on the days activity. you can wear a scarf around the house or go out with it and putting one on also works for a bad hair day (read: haven't washed hair in a week) ;D
just cleanse the scarf by maybe shaking the unwanted energies out of it or with incense or with whatever you see the best and bless the scarf with your intentions for the day :D
2. cleansing
if you have a hard time taking care of your hygiene ( it's okay I promise, it can be very exhausting :/ ), try getting some baby wipes on your bedside table and when you wake up / before you go to bed, wipe your face, armpits, feet etc. with the wipe and with the intention of cleansing. it's quick and very easy and I promise that it's worth it, you'll feel a lot more fresh afterwards. you can do the same with washing in general ! if you take a shower imagine the bad thoughts and depressive energy go down the drain in a black/gray/brown stream of dark water !! you'll feel a lot more fresh and maybe a bit clear-headed even :)
3. tea magick
while getting your cup of tea / coffee, stir your days intentions into the drink or do this:
stir clockwise thrice to bring positivity, stir counterclockwise to let out negative energy in your next three sighs and then seal the spell to let the sadness repel.
I recommend black tea or white tea or chamomile tea and add some honey / sugar to sweeten the deal !!
4. shadow work
I know that one of the last things you might want to do is dwelve deep into your feelings but it really will be useful in the long run. if you feel yourself getting upset or your mood suddenly dropping, try getting to the bottom of it; what triggered the emotional reaction? take a deep breath, relax into your feelings as they are in that moment and be honest with yourself. observe them without judgment and try to find out where they came from and how to solve the conflict.
here's some prompts and questions you can try asking yourself:
how did you feel ( more accurately than just upset; were you angry, jealous, sad, lonely etc.) ?
is there something you can do right now to solve it ?
how could you handle this situation in a healthy way? eg. try to come up with healthy coping mechanisms.
how can you maybe prevent this in the future?
try the court trial thought challenging technique. if these thoughts or this situation was a court case, which side would win? imagine yourself as the defense attorney. you need to gather 100% foolproof evidence you have siding with the negative thought and then defend it against the undermining counterpart. it's kind of a pros and cons type of list but you adopt the viewpoint of an outside viewer to get a clearer and more realistic view of the situation. this thought process can help you realize that some negative thoughts aren't truthful and help you let them go. you can Google "the court trial cbt" for more on this technique :D !!
5. studying the craft
we're all individuals and we react differently to bad states of mind but what I do often is distract myself by being on my phone and I know ( I hope so, at least ) I'm not alone in this. as a witch, you're always developing and learning new things, was it about learning different kinds of ways to practice your craft or getting to know other practices or maybe reading a guide how to grow your own herbs ! point is, if you're gonna distract yourself, you could try reading ebooks or articles or even tumblr posts about things that interest you !
maybe try making a list of subjects, topics and practices that interest you and set a goal for yourself to read at least about 3 subjects on the list per day !!
6. making pinterest boards / planning
this isnt directly magick but I think it does count as practicing your craft. make mood boards for the next full moon, come up with spells, make pinterest boards about cool things that interest you or maybe start planning for the next sabbath ! just have fun with it, maybe colour coordinate your pin boards or arrange them by season !
7. go out for walks
it is so so so important to try to adhere to some routines. a big part of managing depression is taking care that you get enough sleep, eat enough and do fulfilling, nice and healthy things. go outside and try to look for rocks or crystals from the nature ? or try foraging ! or maybe go for a walk during sunset/sunrise and admire the beautiful sky and clouds ! ANY reason to peep your nose out of the house is a good reason. maybe go meditate to the nearest park ? or try yoga !!
8. interests and passions and things you loved to do
I know that it might be hard to find joy in the things that you used to like doing but you should try to do at least one thing that you used to love doing for 10 minutes every day ! incorporate a little witchcraft into it too if you want to !
draw or paint a sigil and maybe colour it
sing your favourite song with intent that matches the lyrics
try freestyling with any instrument you play and let your intuition guide you with the chords and notes that come out ! you can try also making small melodies that correspond to different intents and use them for cleasing or happiness or protection !!
bake or cook something you've always wanted to try ! look up the ingredients' correspondences and cook with desired intents !
please know that you're not alone !! my dms are always open if you want tips or just someone to talk to, too :) you don't need to do all of these but maybe try taking some inspo and adjust it to your life and surroundings and daily life and come up with ways of your own, it's your craft after all !!
How do i contact/start a conversation with Aphrodite? Im interested in becoming a devotee to her.💕💕
Hello lovely! Sorry for answering late. <3
How to contact and introduce yourself to Aphrodite (this is based off of personal experience!):
First off, set up some candles in an area (preferably red, pink, or white) and get an offering ready for her. (can be seashells, jewelry, chocolate, incense,or anything that you relate to love)
Now, cast a circle and light the candles.
You may meditate if you wish (which is what i did!), but this is not needed.
In your own words, invoke Aphrodite and welcome her to the circle. Once that is done, Introduce yourself to her and tell her a bit about yourself. Tell her about your likes and dislikes, what your favorite foods are, etc. Give her the offering, and let yourself feel her energy around you. You may do extra devotional acts after doing this like taking a warm rose bath or doing research on Aphrodite. Now is the time that I waited for any signs that she excepted me to be her worshiper/devotee! Signs that I got were doves flying over me, seeing pictures of her in public, finding rose bushes at parks, cravings for honey or apples, being stung by a bee (Hehe, I know that may sound weird but I got stung by a bee! I’m not sure if this is a coincidence or if it was Aphrodite trying to get my attention.), and a sudden longing to go to the beach more often.
There are lots of other posts for devotional acts and connecting with Aphrodite/starting your relationship with her! I wish you luck, angel! May the beauty of Aphrodite be amongst you, my honeybee.<3
