I love my friends so dearly! I love my partners so dearly! I love feeling alterhuman community connection so dearly! I even forgot I wanted to die yesterday, life's so beautiful again all of a sudden.

i'm so happy my friends want to pack up/ flight up i dunno what to call it since we are all dragons but also other things, we've always been a pack but it was a unspoken truth yk, now we're making it official ^^

it's so weird how much you can connect to people so far away from you for YEARS and never actually meet them in person yet hold them so dearly to your heart, yet at the same time the ones closest to you physically fail to try and connect with you or you fail connecting to them.

I love my packmates very much I hope we live on a little hut in the middle of nowhere hunting for out food and planting and doing evil sorcery and killing millionaires from affar with the evil magic. We bring our partners too and teach them evil dragon sorcery and they also kill billionaires.

And eventually we die and go back to earth and we are reborn as lil isopods that live on a little hole in the ground doing evil draconic sorcery and murder more billionaires.

I find the invalidation of fictionkin in some parts of the otherkin community to be wild.

At least in the otherkin subreddit, I have read comments saying they are skeptical towards fictionkin, fictionkin of certain characters (such as Toothless and not just a night fury) are invalid, and that they are not legit because they are not “earthen animals” like therians or “connected to myths and folklore” (yes, a real comment on the subreddit). And on a poll about whether fictionkin is valid, 112 said they were valid, 73 said they didn’t care too much, 39 said they weren’t big fans, and 59 said that they “ARE FAKERS AND IN NO WAY VALID.”

It’s absolutely wild because some of the first pioneers of the modern otherkin group were elves. Tolkien elves. There were two notable groups: the Elf Queen’s Daughters, and the Silver Elves. And then according to House Of Chimera’s Fictionkin Timeline, in 1979, three members of EQD had realized that they were hobbits, which is a FICTIONAL RACE.

I just find it super bizarre to go on about how fictionkin are invalid, when fictionkin have literally helped pioneer the modern day otherkin community. Heck, the word “otherkin” was coined in 1990 on the Elfinkind Digest.

Medical fatphobia in trans care

I have been seeing a lot of posts about how bottom/top surgeries have BMI limits. I looked into it a little bit and it does indeed exist for many providers (I've seen a limit of 32 BMI for top surgery, for instance). Trans folks, there is no medical justification for BMI limits for top or bottom surgery beyond the pearl-clutching surgery centers do about offering fat people any kind of surgery (like that fat people have a greater risk of infection/bad wound healing, are harder to safely anesthetize, etc).

I'm married to a medical doctor and posed the question about what could justify BMI limits for top or bottom surgery, and my spouse replied, "The only justification I can think of is that most anesthesiologists lack training in putting fat people safely under and surgery centers and surgeons don't want to take on the extra risk for legal reasons. There's no special reason top or bottom surgery would be riskier for fat people."

If you want to get your stomach amputated as a fat person you can find a willing surgeon and trained anesthesiologist anywhere, any time of the week, heck, your doctor has been probably dying for you to ask them to get stomach amputation surgery and has a half-dozen options ready and waiting.

But fatness is used as a barrier to getting gender-affirming care because having any surgery as a fat person is risky something something. It's straight discrimination, using fatness as an extra hurdle to prevent fat trans people from accessing important and possible life-saving gender-affirming care.

This is what activists mean when we say that intersectionality matters. You can't pick and choose your allyships. We are all connected. If you support trans folks then support fat folks and vice-versa.
