honestly the biggest advice i have is that references are your best friend. find good drawings of cats and trace them to figure out the shapes, observe the way that the muscles twist and the joints bend, eventually you'll start to figure out the shapes on your own--though i think that references will always be important, no matter how good of an artist you are

my second biggest advice is do it bad. draw it and try not to care about how it looks--because it WILL look bad sometimes!!! and you will never stop having art that sometimes looks bad. it will never come out looking exactly the way you want it to, and spending all your time doing sketches that don't work the way you're hoping will only leave you with a hundred half finished drawings. do it bad

The idea that gender is biological or linked to anything biological is bioessentialism. Aside from being intersexist, this idea is ALSO transphobic.

This is just "gender is what's in your pants" but with neurobiology most of you don't know jack shit about.

The brain is not sexually dimorphic to the point you could call ANY brain 'sexed', in any capacity. The structures within the brain that vary in size in relation to sex traits (insula, left amygdala, hippocampus, claustrum, pallidum, and a few others) are slight, and only loosely connected. These traits are sexually dimorphic only in a non-rigid way, such as height or facial proportions. Being tall is not seen as a strictly 'male' trait the way having a beard or testicles is. Being short is not seen as a strictly 'female' trait the same way having a uterus or breasts is.

We don't call tall cis women or short cis men intersex, why the hell would we call people with slightly uncommon neurological structures vaguely associated with sex intersex? Not to mention, we have literally no idea if these neurobiological variances are even what causes gender dysphoria.

By nature of these things being averages; There are cis people with these brain differences who are literally perfectly fine being cis and have no dysphoria. There are trans people without them with dysphoria so debilitating they don't go outside and prefer showering with the light off.

Further on dysphoria, I dislike the way it is all called "gender dysphoria", as if social dysphoria and physical dysphoria are the same thing. You can wish to change your sex traits REGARDLESS of your gender identity. Yes. Cis people can have dysphoria and can go on HRT and get surgeries because they have gender dysphoria, without ever changing their pronouns, going by a different name, or identifying as a different gender. Trans people can be comfortable with their bodies despite fully identifying as a different gender, getting a new name, pronouns, etc.

Gender is social. Not biological. The idea of "biological gender" is inherently transmedicalist.

Aside from this, co-opting intersexuality and making it about perisex people because your dad has weird double standards regarding intersex & perisex trans people is absolutely unacceptable. Fighting intersexism with more intersexism just makes you (shocker), an intersexist.

Your parents said "Only intersex people can be trans", and instead of responding with "no, that's wrong, here's why-", you went "You're right! All trans people are intersex", how on earth does agreeing with your parents' bigotry help intersex or trans people?

Just so like... it's clear... anyone who censors words that contain "man" or "men" to anything like "xxn" that's TERF shit.

Any reference to women/womanhood that solely revolves around having a uterus or "womb" is TERF shit.

Any sentence where the OP says they support people being "trans identified" with quotes around ""transwomen"" or ""transmen"" is TERF shit.

I'm seeing a lot of you baby Tumblr gays out there not knowing what these specific TERF dogwhistles look like.

"Wombxxn" is an incredibly dumb way of spelling "woman" that treats the word "man" like a slur and also reduces women to their ability to give birth.

"Trans identified" is their way of saying "this person calls themselves trans, but I don't believe they are."

Saying "People should be allowed to identify however they wish, but we still need to protect women/children" IS TERF SHIT.

Learn to identify this garbage, because not all TERFs are going to spell out their intolerance for you. Some of them are going to try and seem reasonable and polite and normal, and it's fucking dangerous to our community.

an all female post punk indie rock band from carmarthen. their songs are really catchy, cover a range of genres, and satisfy the urge to be serenaded by a choir of angels with electric guitars and synths

Candelas

an anonymous tumblr user told me about candelas recently, and I can't get enough. they're an award-winning rock band from llanuwchllyn, and sing in both welsh and english. if you're gonna listen to any welsh band, listen to them

Catatonia

the myth, the legend, the one and only. they're my mother's favourite band, so listen to them for my mam, please. if you like alternative rock from the post-britpop days of the mid-90s in cardiff, with a front woman who sounds like she smokes 50 packs a day, then you're in luck
