I played a board game against Bill Cipher and lost. Since I lost, he removed 3 random steps from my stairs. We then had a rematch, which I won, and I got to turn all of Bill Cipher's furniture a dull purple colour.

Aro culture is watching a show/movie take the boring route with their nonhuman society by making them experience relationships the way western societies typically do. When the opportunity was RIGHT THERE to flesh out how their species and cultural differences extend to how they connect with each other. Like, come on! That could have been so much more interesting 😭

This isn't just about romance, either. You're telling me nuclear family roles are a universal experience, even for nonhumans? And that their society pushes the idea or love and expects their people to find partners instead of acknowledging the possibility that isn't universal, either? Boring!

nuclear family as default and marriage for romance as default literally only became things in the 1900s. even among human history they're not common!! why would it be the way aliens or nonhumans in general operate!!
