Spider-Verse fanfiction idea I’ll never get around to writing:
Teacher: Congratulations, Miles. Your paper on multi-dimensional physics has attracted a TON of interest from our Science Mentorship partners. We’ve found you a really wonderful Science Mentor who’s going to be helping you prepare your Youth Science Innovators presentation this week.
Miles: Oh, wow, my parents are gonna be so proud.
Teacher: So, let me introduce you to Dr. Olivia Octavius. Thank you, doctor, for being part of this mentorship program.
Liv: It’s my pleasure, I’m just happy I can help inspire the science community of tomorrow.
Miles: … D:
Important additions:
- Liv is 100% legitimately invested in being a good Science Mentor. After all, today’s young scientists are tomorrow’s reality-warping coworkers.
- Miles’s paper was an edited version of his research on small, stable inter-dimensional portals, so he can hang out with Gwen/get multiverse help against major threats.
- Sometimes, Miles forgets to be scared or angry at Doc Ock and starts actually learning from her, except she inevitably proposes something super unethical and then unconvincingly adds “…theoretically, of course” and Miles starts planning how to counter whatever doom-bot she’s just come up with as Spider-Man.
- May Parker has been helping Miles with spider-gadgets and general science stuff after school. At some point, she and Liv have an angry shouting match over who gets science-custody of their science-nephew.
- Miles has to figure out how to turn down a very plush internship offer from Octavius at the end of the week. His parents insist he take it, he fails to come up with a good reason not to that doesn’t involve Spider-Man knowledge. His parents have Liv over for dinner, she speaks highly of their son and his bright future. The family loves her.
- When Liv eventually figures out his secret identity, she goes full punch-clock villain and keeps mentoring Miles while fighting Spider-Man’s attempts to stop her Bad Idea Science.
i havent been normal since ive seen this
Sing Shong should release an open-world RPG game where we play as Yoo Jonghyuk in the 0th Round. At first it's just us controlling him to do common game actions and challenges but then as the game progresses, we begin to be able to communicate with him directly and influence the storyline. And then when the game ends with the Star Stream falling, YJH will ask us who we are and why we helped him and there will be an automated text saying, "I am the Demon King of Salvation."

In WoS, Kim Namwoon is a character created for and based indirectly off of Kim Dokja. All characters of WoS are, of course part of this category in some shape or form, but Kim Namwoon most of all. He is, to the child Dokja, a source of inspiration, and what KidJa considers to be cool.
knw is chuuni because kidja is chuuni (a middle schooler through and through). knw doesn't care about adults or social status. he's not bullied. he has dyed hair and piercings and doesn't give a shit about anything. he's brash, unafraid to speak his mind, and confident. self-assured. he looks out for himself. he doesn't need to depend on anyone.
To a young Dokja, Yoo Joonghyuk was a father and older brother figure. He's strong and charismatic and the protagonist. Kim Dokja knew, better than anyone, that yjh was a character, that he could never truly be like yjh. Saying, "I'm Yoo Joonghyuk," is escapism. It's a refusal of reality. But Kim Namwoon? Kim Namwoon was someone that he could be; the sidekick in the shadows of the protagonist's light.
Of course, as Kim Dokja grew older, he began to feel ashamed of what was, essentially, an idealistic self-insert of what his younger self thought to be cool. In the fight against the Delusional Demon, kdj reveals that he resents Kim Namwoon for being a reflection of his past self.
Now, who else does KDJ resent? Who does he refuse to acknowledge?
Jang Hayoung.
Jang Hayoung is the second protagonist of WoS. She's cool and strong and enthusiastic and good at talking to people and better looking than yjh and and and—
And. She's a character that kdj actively asked tls123 to create. Possibly, the only character that he asked hsy to create. kdj says it himself—he's not comfortable being anything other than a reader. He has Opinions, sure, but he very rarely says how he wanted WoS to go (aside from, in the midst of yjh's suffering, asking whether yjh could have a happy ending). JHY is another ideal, the person the older Kim Dokja wishes he could be. Except for one thing. She's a girl.
JHY is, I would argue, a reflection of KDJ's own Internalised transphobia. He refused to perceive JHY as female because to do so would open up a can of worms that he's too repressed to deal with. If he accepts that JHY is female, then what does that mean for his own perception of what an ideal is? This is also mirrored by his own refusal to acknowledge that the Punisher is YJH right up until YJH transforms in front of him, despite everyone else pointing out that....it was kind of obvious.
Despite knowing that JHY would be a strong addition to KDC, she isn't part of KDJ's inner circle. JHY is sidelined for much of the novel, and she mentions that she's often excluded. Why? BC kdj tries his best to avoid her. Because he doesn't want to acknowledge her. Becauseeeeee she's a reflection of his past self's ideals.
qed.
You can, of course, choose to read kdj's transphobia as purely surface level, but you know. It's cooler my way 😎
i want this on ao3 so bad bro
In the Edgeoworth-Wright roleswap au, I wonder what Phoenix’s dynamic would be if Franziska became his sister. I feel like Miles gave Franziska a childhood in their “gifted child environment” and Phoenix would’ve done the same.
I noticed in the Ace Attorney games that Phoenix functions for someone: Miles, Dollie, Miles again, Maya, Ema, Pearls, Trucy. Grieving for the death of his only parent and being whisked away to an unfamiliar place, child Phoenix might set it aside to reach out for the bossy younger girl who is too proud to admit she is lonely.
Phoenix learned early that one way to disarm Franziska when she would be angry was humor. Lightening up the situation when the pressure for perfection becomes too much becomes his early turnabouts.
Since he never had a sister before and Franziska reminds him of royalty, he would gently tease her by calling her “princess”
The gist of it as children would be:
Franziska: Ugh. What is that tone, little brother?
Phoenix: Uh, affection?
Franziska: Disgusting. Continue.
Just as Manfred tried to drive a wedge between Miles and Franziska by making them compete with each other and partly failing because they both share the burden of his abuse, the same thing would be done for Phoenix and Franziska.
Franziska would be stressed at how harder their home environment would be to Phoenix as his own person and feeling responsible as the “older sister”. Phoenix not wanting her to feel responsible for him and trying harder after.
Franziska being furious that Phoenix was “not taking her seriously” whenever Phoenix would be half-hearted in the competitions Manfred would set for them against each other.
Franziska wanting to help Phoenix improve as a von Karma but not having the tools to do so when she only knew “tough love” and thus driving a wedge between them.
The distance between them growing as Phoenix grows up putting on a front just to survive the household. He still calls her princess every time she calls him little brother.
Franziska developing a better bullshit detector due to Phoenix becoming the master of misdirecting demands, questions insults from her father which Phoenix would sometimes used on her when she would demand von Karma perfection from him.
Franziska knowing Phoenix is drained when he is no longer cracking smartass comments. (Franziska would also have more dry humor than in canon, courtesy of Phoenix rubbing off on her.)
Franziska getting mad at Phoenix’s recklessness every time she would hear of him during his work with the Interpol agents. “If I hear another call from a hospital, I would maim you myself, Phoenix “Wright” von Karma!”
Someone asking Franziska “Why is your brother still alive?” and her answering, “Nor heaven nor hell wants him.” And she prefers it that way.
I've said this before and I'll say it again: it's more important to know and understand fully why something is harmful than it is to drop everything deemed problematic. It's performative and does nothing. People wonder why nobody has critical thinking skills and this is part of it because no one knows how to simousltansly critique and consume media. You need to use discernment.
