okay, I have BEEF with the popular notion that the Pokemon Red and Green sprites look bad. What are yall talking about. no they do not like, all of these sprites have so much personality and life. they really feel like monsters, just absolute little freaks

this game is the only time gastly has ever looked good imo, really gives the impression that they're spectral and gaseous, and not just some weird ball. not to even mention their big sister looking the best she ever has

look at how graceful the mono fire pokemon are! look at them!

I wouldn't describe magmar as graceful but this is probably my favorite iteration of magmar/electabuzz (they're still just okay, I'm sorry, i don't like these guys very much)

I wanna just say that I've never been a fan of the machop line (they kinda just look like people tbh) but they are probably my favorite here. idk, the lumpy very round art style of pokemon green sprites just highlights their cartoonish monster-ness, I like it

and some honorable mentions, I don't have anything to say about these guys, I just think they're neat

here's a full spritesheet! like, yes, there are silly looking sprites that everyone likes to cherrypick, but overall? I think most of these are wonderful. a cool look into pokemon before it was a multimedia empire. I love the lumpy, round art style they all have. these beasts are rotund

look at sandshrew. look at him. look him in the eyes and tell him you think pokemon green's sprites suck
