A sand pendulum that creates a beautiful pattern only by its movement.
But why does the ellipse change shape?
The pattern gets smaller because energy is not conserved (and in fact decreases) in the system. The mass in the pendulum gets smaller and the center of mass lowers as a function of time. Easy as that, an amazing pattern arises through the laws of physics.
Hey guys! Sorry for being MIA once again! I have been studying 24/7 the past few days and I need to keep up with that for another month 😫 I literally have so much to study and on top of that 3 videos that I still need to upload lol. On the second day of Christmas I studied criminal law and finished my summary for it. Yesterday, I finished studying for my religion and society class, and today I am trying to finish accounting but it’s so difficult aaah. I’m trying to stay calm but I’m so stressed out lol. When are your exams?
Glad to see some boy positivity in the studyblr community!
i see a lot of posts on here supporting girls, which is amazing!! but!! i wanna take a second and recognize all the boys that run studyblrs too! they’re all so amazing, and just because it isnt “stereotypical” (gender roles are gross) for guys to have a blog like that, it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t. i’m a boy and i wanna see more love for boys around here!!
I want to see more dark photos.
I want to see more photos with diverse, colourful, and interesting backgrounds.
I want to see more notes written in ballpoint
I want to see more of the rushed bujo pages made because you didn’t have time to do it but didn’t want to have that week missing from your journal
I want to see more in-class notes, the notes you took before you re-wrote them to make them “post worthy”
I want to see more messy desks. The aftermatch of journaling and studying
I want to see more wooden desks, more desks that aren’t white, more desks covered in coffee rings and paint splats
I want to see more on the fly photos
And I’m not writing this because I want to support “small accounts” or “poor study accounts” I want to see it because I’m sick of every single post looking the same as the one I saw last. I’m tired of accounts with amazing content not getting the growth they deserve because their photos aren’t overexposed on white desks. I want to see it because it stands out, it’s different, and I like it.
So many accounts quit before they even get started because of the precedent that you have to have expensive stationery and stark white photos to grow and make an impact. Because they don’t feel they can live up to the expectations of the community. And that makes me really sad.
My first exam (modern history) is Wednesday. Today is Sunday. For the past few days my life has been about study, study and more study. Here’s the best tips I can give you:
Start NOW
Flashcards are the best way to study- you learn while making them AND by revising
Mindmaps are also good for connecting ideas
And because they can be messy
You don’t have time to be neat and meticulous (though go ahead if it helps you)
My advice is to just make it legible enough for YOU
Remember, this is for you
Practice papers are your friend
But let’s be real, you probably don’t have time
So instead of essays do essay plans, for example
Or practice introductions, that’s useful too. It helps you come up with ideas
Take care of yourself, you’re obviously busy, but take breaks for meals at the very least
Start with the hard stuff and then do the easy stuff
For example, I have been revising history during the day and annotating books at night as part of my nighttime reading
Try and get enough sleep while you can
Don’t forget the big picture
Talk to friends & family if you’re feeling anxious
Aim for 100%- Know as much as you possibly can, even if you don’t expect to get 100
Learn the structure of your exams, it’s so much less daunting on the day
Utilise your teachers if you need them
Breathe, it’ll be okay
You got this
Don’t forget to prepare the materials you’ll need
And go ace those exams :)

make this year about yourself. write a journal with your thoughts and ideas, take care of yourself and remind yourself to put your well-being first, acquire new skills, learn a language, set yourself goals to achieve, and study for your future. you will thank yourself later.
26.05.18 | tuesday | 6/100 days of productivity here’s my Mess ™ feat. DNA notes. sometimes i stress out over how little i achieve but then i remember that everyone’s speed is different and that’s okay! today i studied DNA and RNA and did some trigonometry practice. also i did some bio tests in the format of my state exam an the result was surprisingly good - i scored 40-something points when i actually don’t know anything - my goal is to make it at least 80 points in one year and a half.
It’s sad how much of what is taught in school is useless to over 99% of the population.
There are literally math concepts taught in high school and middle school that are only used in extremely specialized fields or that are even so outdated they aren’t used anymore!
*cue Charlie Brown soundtrack of kids cheering*
There’s your science for the day. Go try it out for yourself!
*UPDATED* in the final picture of the original post, I made the mistake of saying “light as a particle” - I should have repeated the initial description (which is now fixed): the effect is from light passing through a single slit and diffracting, which is more accurate to what is being observed, because each bulb is a “point-source of light.” While the general scientific consensus is that light does indeed have particle properties, this single slit experiment is not a true depictor of those properties. While fewer photons do indeed get through, diffraction still (faintly) occurs between the lines. It’s the double slit experiment where things get REALLY weird, though.
you like about yourself, publicly, then send this on to 10 of your favorite followers (non-negotiable, positivity is super cool!) (and i love your blog, it's so pretty!!) ~ balie
(Okay so the ask got cut off, but I think it was 5 things I like about myself. Also, thank you so much!!! That’s so sweet!!!)
I really like my eyes. I know that’s really basic, but it’s one of the few things I like about my appearance.
I work really hard. Even if what I produce isn’t always the best, people can always count on me to show effort and people care and thought into my work.
I can be really energetic. I think this is pretty cool because I have classes at seven in the morning and people joke about how awake I am.
I care about people a lot. I really try my best to make sure people know I care about them. I just really hope that people know that they have someone who cares about them.
I love to improve as a person. No one is perfect and lately, I have been trying to tell myself that while also telling myself that I can be an alright person. For example, a few months ago I probably wouldn’t have been able to come up with five things I like about myself. Now I am not afraid to show myself some appreciation
Anyway, thank you so much for sending this to me. I know it took me a while to respond, but I promise I didn’t forget!!! I have just been taking a few days off of social media, but I am back!!!
