The dormitory was quiet and dark as everyone fell into a deep slumber, their bodies giving into the exhaustion they had endured through the past few months of gruelling practice and recordings.

With the recent debut of NCT 2020, the group could only anticipate a far busier schedule in the coming days and although previously, they had been prone to late nights, it was now a rare sight to see anyone up past 2 in the morning. Yet, there was a dull glow of light emitted from a far corner in the room, hidden from the sleeping figures. 

Sungchan stared at his phone, the light illuminating his face as he flopped to his side and away from the rest. Huddled in his bed, he should be comfortable yet in his heart, he was anything but that. The anxiety and anticipation coursing through his veins were unreal as he held on shakily onto his phone.

It has been about 8 hours since the release of ‘Misfit’, the very first NCT music video he actually featured in. Although the internet was flooded with praise about his performance, Sungchan was only hanging on to a certain’s someone’s opinions.

notes from vee | here it is! i spent most of this month working on this fic completely out of nowhere, it was unplanned but i’m generally happy with how it turned out (this is also the longest fic i’ve posted on here…please don’t be scared by the length). also i thought that i would add the fact that y/n calls hyuck ‘mr. lee’ (as a joke) sometimes, which is where the title comes from. and just a fair warning that donghyuck and y/n are legitimately the only characters in this entire fic, though others are mentioned often. enjoy and please leave feedback!! <3

“So you’re telling me that you’ve never kissed someone before.”

You sigh deeply at Donghyuck’s voice deadpanning over the phone, thinking it was socially acceptable to throw yourself at him for trying to undermine you. But talking to your best friend merely four hours before school starts isn’t the smoothest move, but you can’t help but voice out the thoughts that were nagging at you the entire day and night. Letting your best friend know about your smooching situations is worse, considering the slander you’re currently facing, and you’re slowly starting to regret even talking to him in the first place.

“Oh shut up,” you mutter back, making yourself comfortable in your bed. Tossing to your side, you hold the microphone end of your phone to your mouth. “And did you even listen? I didn’t say I’ve never kissed anyone before, I just said I haven’t—”

“—kissed anyone,” he finishes with a snarky laugh, one that you’re familiar with from the day he mentioned to the entire classroom that you two finished each other’s sentences. “A kiss without tongue is literally not a kiss, Y/N, I thought everyone knew this.”
