Hello everyone!
I present to you the full retranslation of AnK Volume 8.
As most of you know, official translations of volumes 7 and 8 are extremely poorly done and there has been a need to properly (re)translate them. Volume 7 has already been retranslated by Rabi and can be found here. And now, you can get volume 8 through the link below:
With this, our fandom finally has a chance to properly read the, arguably, most important part of the story. Guy’s thoughts, actions and motivations have especially suffered in the official translation, so I really hope you guys would carefully (re-)read it to try to get the whole picture. I also think that Raoul and Katze have been really snubbed, with entire sections related to them just outright skipped.
Happy reading, and once you’ve read it, feel free to share your thoughts and opinions! Love, Darcy PS: Don’t forget about my retranslation of volume 1~~ and visit my blog for other AnK translations.
I hope you'll see it, @oldpaintings. What you've done here is not only rude and cruel, it's imperialistic of you to support cultural appropriationd and historical manipulation. By calling Ukrainian artist a Russian you support the cultural genoside. It's your choice as a human on which side you want to be - to support imperialistic ambitions of Russians, who want you to spread disinformation and allow them to steal others cultural inheritance, OR to call Ukrainian art Ukrainian.
By posting Ukrainian art as Russian, you are no better then thiefs. You are participating in it. And many people who'll see your post will believe this artist was Russian. And when it comes to cultutal appropriation, do you really want to participate in it? Do you really want to be one of oppressors, who are trying to erase culture and traditions?
It's just so sad, that when it comes to culture, you and many other trying to show 'Russian culture' with stolen art. If you appriciate Russian culture so much, why don't you post real Russian art? Why you post Ukrainian artist and call them Russian? It's not that you can't find Russian artists, it's something else, isn't it? Maybe hatred, maybe ignorance and cruelty. You just choose to support oppression. I really hope you'll see this post and if you did that just by mistake, I hope you'll have enough compassion to not be a part of cultural and phisical genoside.

A friendly reminder that Ukrainians are not you political debate tool and not a scapegoat to spill all your anger towards the United States. They're living through an occupation and an attack of a state officials of which repeatedly stated that Ukrainian as an identity shouldn't exist. They live under a constant threat of death by regular russian shellings. Just because theyre white and their attacker isn't United States or because you're tired of hearing about then, doesn't mean they don't deserve to have their life, safety and rights.
As a Ukrainian fan of VC, I am very disappointed with the plot twist of the series. Of course, this could be predicted, but I hoped to the last that Armand's Ukrainian origin would be reflected at least in the series. It is very bitter that even in the 21st century, in a series that positions itself as modern and tolerant, Ukraine was again erased from history and canon.
They turned a blind eye to Ukraine. Again. And this is right now, when the genocide of the Ukrainian people and culture is taking place. They play up the narrative of a non-existent Ukraine, a Ukraine that invisible to the world.
literally my whole life
One of the biggest issues of moving to England as a person who is Ukrainian AND neurodivergent is not knowing how to answer the small talk question of "how are you", but today I was reminded that Ukrainian blessed me with the phrase that roughly translates as "living is hard but dying would be a pity" and can we please naturalise it so I can use it all day every day
So elegant, so magical, so...
Never mind.

I've been working on a Tumblr Roleplaying 101 guide, and in doing so wound up making a brand new Tumblr account for some screenshots. And this process made me realize how weirdly complicated Tumblr has made it for new accounts to get a chronological dash. So if you just want to see posts from people you follow, in the order that they made them, this what you have to do.
First, go to your settings, go under Dashboard, and scroll down to Preferences. Toggle off Best Stuff First. This switches your dash from an algorithm feed to a chronological one.
If you have an older blog, that's all you have to do. But if your blog was created more recently, you have an extra step.
The Tumblr dashboard has different tabs, which you can see across the top of your feed. Most older users have completed tuned these out, because we don't care about anything other than the basic feed. There is a Following tab, which shows posts from users you follow, and a For you tab, which shows recommend posts Tumblr thinks you'll like.
On blogs created before May 8, 2023, the Following tab is the default view. However, blogs created after this date have the For you tab as the default view. (This is an intentional change by Tumblr.)
This means if you are a newer blog and want to see posts from people you follow, you'll need to manually switch to the Following tab every time you open the dashboard.
If you do not like this change, consider contacting Tumblr staff. Submit a form under the Feedback category and explain that you'd like the option to make the Following tab the default for new blogs. And please, be polite! There is a person on the other side of the screen who likely had no say in this change, and even if they did, they don't deserve to be yelled at.
