deku is incredibly perceptive and attentive, so it’s rare that he actually doesn’t hear you when you’re throwing compliments his way. it’s satisfying to know that you think so highly of him and knowing how you react when he urges you to milk it is what keeps his playful antics alive. it isn’t that he’s conceited or arrogant, but he loves seeing you flustered when he asks you to repeat yourself. he’ll cup his ear and say “sorry, what was that?” and “i didn’t hear you, you’ll have to speak up,” all while sporting a cheeky smirk at your growing sheepishness. his goal is for you to end up with your head buried in his chest.

it’s something deku does often because of his career, so you never run short of the somewhat indecent noises he emits. every time he feels the tension of his muscle or the popping of a joint, his groans are all the more delightful—music to your ears. seeing the crease between his brow disappear and hearing the breath of relief that follows is the icing on top of the cake. he’s noticed how your lips part at the involuntary grunts that come along with his stretches, so the first thing he does in the morning when you both wake up is toss the comforter to the side so he can stand up and reach his arms into the air, all so you can listen to him.

✸ chews on his lip when he’s super focused.

some people tap their foot, others bounce their leg—izuku bites his lip. it’s an unconscious habit that he can go a while without realizing that he’s doing it. but his lack of awareness means the action is raw, which makes it even more attractive. his pearly white incisors pressing into the soft skin of his lips as he jots down who knows what in his notebook is sure to draw your attention. it always ends with him running his tongue over his lip to soothe the abuse his teeth caused; his pink, plump lips left coated with a slight sheen. on most occasions, he doesn’t pick up on the mannerism until he catches you staring.

he loves cozy nights where you can spend quality time together. cooking a meal together while talking about anything that comes to mind is a wonderfully intimate feeling for him. a simple but romantic candlelight dinner and afterwards he's more than happy to watch a movie or listen to music, and maybe have a good conversation, but mostly just enjoying each other's presence. he loves how romantic and pure these types of dates are, but he still has that comfortable feeling of being "at home" with the person he loves most in the world.

you hold back a hiss of pain as the man in front of you slams you against the stone wall, the cold muzzle of his gun pressed against the side of your head.

“so, you are associated with bonten,” you conclude, smiling up at the man.

the man flinches, looking back at his associates as they share glances of surprise. “how did you—”

just as i predicted.

you duck at the sound of gunfire, shouts and screams intermingling with screeches of agony and blood splattering all over the walls. they echo throughout the abandoned building, sending shivers down your spine.

well, at least you got what you wanted—if you couldn’t get to mikey, then get mikey to come to you.

you smile, catching sight of the man you’ve been hunting for the past couple of years. here he is, in the flesh—instead of seeing him in pictures. well, just barely; most of them either showed his side profile or the back of his head, bonten tattoo in display.

“s’nice to see you too, manjirou,” you greet, taking a seat on one of the worn-out chairs. “you look handsome. pathetic, but handsome.”

“you can’t speak to boss like that, bitch,” a pink-haired man sneers, cocking his gun at your temple. “friend or not.”

“leave her, haruchiyo. that’s how she’s always been,” mikey orders, taking a seat across from you. “i want to talk to her in private.”

the man leaves without a word.

you grin, warmth bubbling up in your chest. “my honesty has always been your favorite part about me, actually—”

“you shouldn’t be here,” mikey interrupts, shifting his gaze from the ground to you. “after everything i’ve done to keep everyone safe, you come here, looking for me? i don’t want to be found. forget about me.”

“so, keeping everyone safe is pretending to go against them and severing all contact, huh? that’s pretty fucking selfish of you, leaving everyone and me so abruptly like that,” you force out a laugh, bottom lip trembling as you stare into his blank obsidian eyes—the ones you’ve always loved, the ones that reminded you of the moonless night sky. “then again, that’s how you’ve always been.”

“you’ve never asked for help. you’ve always kept your personal demons to yourself and look where that’s gotten you—leading a life that you would’ve never even thought of leading, without your true friends by your side,” you close your eyes, tears dripping down your cheeks. “shin—shinichiro-san would be sad to see you like this.”

“don’t talk about my brother,” is all you hear, along with the cock of a gun.

you hold back a laugh. as morbid as it sounds, hearing him telling you to shut up was mildly funny to you. so, instead, you rest your head against his chest, listening to his erratic heartbeat. it was going so, so fast—in contrast to your own, that was slowly beginning to calm and eventually…

“i—i was interrupted earlier, y’know. i was going—going to say that i—”

“don’t.”

mikey doesn’t want to hear it. he doesn’t want your final words to him be that—he doesn’t deserve it. after threatening to shoot you, of all things, you still wanted to tell him.

he flinches at the sensation of your cool hands wiping his tears, the back of his throat burning as you smile up at him.

you laugh feebly at your own joke, only for more blood to spill from your mouth. you curse in your head, your mouth already beginning to numb—as if there was cotton filling up in your mouth.

you let out a ragged exhale, weakly clinging onto his shirt.

“h-hey...hold—hold me closer, p-please. your warmth is the last thing i want...i want to feel.”

he obliges, bringing you closer to his chest as he presses on the wound on your stomach.

mikey doesn’t want to believe you’ll die. he wants to cling to that faint sliver of hope that help will come on time, one last time.

but what can he say as he feels your body slowly beginning to lose its warmth? the rise and fall of your chest slowing? the way you’re struggling to keep your eyes open, to talk?

he knows better. he let go of that hope a long, long time ago.

He’s the one you’d always wondered ‘what if.’ What if you have stayed together and sorted through your differences? What if you were patient and tried to understand his point of view? What if he was the one that got away? Thoughts of him come and go, but nothing sticks until you are on vacation in Argentina. It could have just been a passer-by, a stranger that caught your eye in a crowd, but your heart was telling you something else. It was telling you to double-check who he was. And at that moment everything was in slow motion. He too looks back, chocolate brown eyes engulfed in awe and surprise. Drunk Confession; Iwaizumi is the loner you met in college who was very unapproachable with a stoic and intimidating expression wasn’t something you intended to break with small talk. But once you were assigned to work in a group project with him, you knew you had to uncover the person underneath the solemn face. Things go a lot better than expected and it doesn’t take long before you’re both seeking out each other’s company. When he offers to walk you home, tension and silence build that’s only broken with Iwaizumi nervously mumbles he has something he’s been wanting to tell you for a while. You know you’re drunk but your heart begins to race uncontrollably. He takes a deep breath, then turns with caution and fear in his eyes. “I like you… like more than a friend,” he says and you think you’ve misheard him but his embarrassed expression tells you otherwise. “I like you too,” you reply with a smile.

✧ HANAMAKI TAKAHIRO ​​✧

Fake Dating; Hanamaki is the new co-worker who talks to you too much. He’s the one that always gets you in trouble and you tell him you’re going to kill him if he gets you fired - he holds you to it. One day he asks you to do him a favor, though you don’t owe him anything, he somehow ropes you in pretending you’re his girlfriend when his best friend visits him at work. His best friend teases him and asks him how he could ever score a catch like you and you can only think of unkind words to say, so you bite your tongue. But the hoax doesn’t stop there. Of course, his best friend invites you both out for drinks. You think you can excuse yourself then Hanamaki answers for you. The extreme frustration boiling inside you almost unleashes until he offers to pay for you. Your fake relationship lasts longer than anticipated until the point you don’t despise his company. After a couple of months, he invites you to a festival. You dress up in a beautiful yukata which makes Hanamaki speechless at first sight. The evening is filled with vibrant lights and delicious food. Near the end, you decide to watch the fireworks. You feel your heart drop into your stomach as you both gaze up at the sky. Suddenly you can feel his hand touch yours and electricity courses through you. Somehow you want to stay like this forever.

Unresolved Sexual Tension; Matsukawa is your friend you have always been overly flirty towards. But you wore it and joined with your friends. The night was so agonizingly boring, you were texting Matsukawa the entire time, both trying to plot your escape. Finally, a ploy was devised for him to pick you up as an emergency. You didn’t think it’d work, but your friends didn’t seem to mind that you were being taken away by a tall dark, handsome man. He helps you get home safe, standing in your doorway as you thank him for his courageous act of service. You both gaze for a moment too long at each other. He’s about to take off, but you don’t wish him to go, so you ask him if he would like to come in.
