happy 20th anniversary sinbad!!! a very special movie that unfortunately bombed super hard and was immediately forgotten by everyone. except me! i love this movie and i think there’s a lot to love about it: beautifully fluid animation and great character designs, compelling story, an iconic and gorgeously animated villain, roots in greek mythology, great action sequences and a killer score. at the heart of it lies the complex, tender and tragic dynamic between sinbad, proteus and marina that i’ve been obsessed with for the past 20 years.

it could’ve used some rewrites and sadly some of the cgi has not aged well, but if you’re an animation lover, sinbad is worth your time; it doesn’t deserve to be forgotten like it has been, and it certainly doesn’t deserve to be blamed for killing theatrical hand-drawn animation (katzenberg if i see you on the street it’s on sight). if anything, this movie is a reminder of how stunning and full of personality hand-drawn animation can be! i think it’s something special and that it deserves to be remembered fondly. a very happy 20th anniversary to dreamworks’ last traditionally animated film!

Nine minutes into Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas. I have labeled both Sinbad and Proteus as gay. They’re husbands now.

I feel sorry for the Gen-Z kids who see a Millenial or Gen-Y person’s Treasure Planet fan works and says to them, 

“Hey, I really like this SciFi/Steampunk Treasure Island au you made! Reinterpreting Jim Hawkins as an angsty teen, and Long John Silver as a cyborg, that’s freaking awesome!” 

They do not know the years of pain and outrage they have just tapped into.

If you follow me pls know that I apologize for calling proteus a cinnamon roll, I was gonna go to sleep one night and I remembered I posted something with him and I called him that and cringed so hard. I saw people doing it with their fav actors and characters so I was like “hmmm let me try” , even having it come out of my mouth doesn’t sound natural. I can’t even delete the post cause I like the gifs , if u come across it plssssssss I’m so sorry.

I think humble or soft-hearted would best fit his character description lol and impulsive and secretly hot headed when pushed. ( I think they low-key hinted that in an actual canon description from dream works) you know what he could could’ve been snarky too for all we know if they’ve shown more of his character.

I’ve also remembered (I think) that I was watching Inuyasha around this time and I remember liking Inuyasha and Kagome well enough when they weren’t yelling at each other. It’s been a looong time since I read or watched Inuyasha, but I think I remember being frustrated at the lack of obvious character growth and relationship development (not that I could actually put a name to that at the time).

I answered this here (x) already and I stg I just remembered that weird AU idea I was thinking of, but I’ve already forgotten it again! Let me dig up some old fic ideas... uh... okay, every time I rewatch Dreamworks’ Sinbad movie, I am deeply tempted to write a post-canon Proteus/Sinbad/Marina fic in which King Proteus of Syracuse gets kidnapped and is promptly stolen from his kidnappers by pirates. And he’s just like, “Sinbad! Marina! It’s so great to see you again. Yes, Sinbad, I will graciously pretend that you only saved me for the ransom Syracuse will pay for my safe return. Now, please return me to my kingdom post-haste so I don’t have to keep smiling politely like I’m not secretly still deeply in love with both of you.” Ocean adventures with some goddess pulling the strings ensues (Aphrodite or Eris or both).
