Neon Lights? PT.4
Hazard x PunkSinger! Reader
Summary: Hazard decides to take you somewhere else calmer.
Hazard paced the garage, his heavy boots thudding against the floor. His leather jacket creaked as he moved, frustration etched across his face.
"Where the hell am I supposed tae take them?" he muttered, running a hand through his blonde hair. His accent thickened when he was annoyed, words coming out sharp and clipped. "Can’t be anywhere too fancy—don’t want them thinkin’ I’m some posh git. But it cannae be a dive either. Fuckin’ hell..."
Sitting cross-legged on the workbench, Boomslang smirked, her boots tapping against the metal frame. "Y'know, if you stopped overthinking this, you might actually figure it out” she said, her tone light, teasing. "Just take them to a café or somethin’. Nice and easy. Neutral ground."
Hazard stopped pacing and fixed her with a skeptical look. "A café? Are ye daft? That’s pure boring. What if they think I don’t give a damn?"
Boomslang rolled her eyes. "Haz, not everyone’s expectin’ explosions and chaos every second. It’s about keepin’ it chill. You don’t need to impress them with a parade."
He frowned, folding his arms across his chest. "Aye, but cafés... I dunno. Feels too... soft."
"Exactly why it’s perfect" Boomslang countered, smirking. "Show them you’ve got more than just the leather-jacket, gang-member act. Trust me, they’ll appreciate it."
Hazard let out a frustrated sigh but finally relented. "Fine, fine. A café it is. But if this goes tits up, it’s on ye."
Boomslang laughed, throwing up her hands. "Don’t worry, champ. If it bombs, I’ll buy you a round to drown your sorrows."
=====
The café turned out to be quieter than you expected. The warm, inviting lighting gave the place a cozy ambiance, the faint scent of roasted coffee mixing with hints of vanilla and cinnamon. It wasn’t the kind of spot you’d imagine Hazard frequenting—he looked out of place. You arrived first, settling into a booth tucked away in the corner. The barista had just brought over your tea when the bell over the door jingled. You glanced up, and your eyes widened at the sight.
Hazard walked in, but gone were the torn leather jacket and chains. Instead, he was dressed in a soft, oversized hoodie, sweatpants that looked like they might’ve come straight out of a lazy Sunday afternoon, and sneakers that were suspiciously clean. His blonde hair was tucked under a knitted beanie, and for once, his posture was relaxed, almost casual. He spotted you immediately, his face breaking into that familiar grin as he made his way over. “Hope I’m not late” he said, sliding into the seat across from you.
“Not at all” you replied, still trying to reconcile the Hazard in front of you with the one you’d come to know. “I just... wasn’t expecting this.”
He raised an eyebrow, his grin turning playful. “What, were ye expectin’ me tae show up in full Phreak gear? Thought I’d give yer poor heart a break today.”
You laughed, gesturing to his outfit. “I mean, I didn’t think you even owned sweatpants. You look like you’re ready for a Netflix marathon, not a café.”
Hazard chuckled, leaning back in his seat. “Can’t be struttin’ around in leather all the time—gets a wee bit much for the heat, and besides” he smirked, “I hear the ‘comfy’ look is all the rage these days. Figured I’d try tae keep up.”
You shook your head, smiling as you sipped your tea. “Well, it’s definitely unexpected. But I’ll give you this—it suits you.”
He tilted his head, his grin softening. “Aye? Well, maybe I’m just tryin’ tae impress ye.”
You rolled your eyes, but the warmth in your chest betrayed you. “Sure, Hazard. You’re definitely here to impress me, not because you secretly love a good cappuccino.”
He laughed, a sound that felt unguarded, real. “Ye’ve caught me. Fine. Maybe i do love a good cappuccino. But don’t tell the lads—they’d never let me hear the end of it.”
The conversation flowed easily after that. You talked about the chaos of tour life, and Hazard shared stories about his quieter moments with the Phreaks—nights spent fixing up their hideout, impromptu movie marathons and they’re helpful ‘charity work’.
“You’d like ‘em” he said, stirring the last of his coffee. “They’re a pain in the arse sometimes, but they’re good folk. Loyal. And they’ve got this habit of takin’ care o’ each other, even when they’re bein’ daft.”
“I can tell” you replied, resting your chin on your hand. “The way you talk about them—it’s clear you really care.”
He shrugged, but the flicker of vulnerability in his expression didn’t go unnoticed. “They’re family, aye? Maybe not by blood, but that doesn’t matter much. Ye look out for yer own.”
You nodded, a soft smile playing on your lips. “I get that. Being on tour, my band and crew—they’re like family, too. It’s not always easy, but... you find ways to make it work.”
Hazard studied you for a moment, his gaze unusually serious. “Ye’ve got a good heart, love. That much is obvious.”
Your cheeks warmed under his compliment, and you quickly glanced away, pretending to focus on the menu. “And you’ve got a way with words, don’t you?”
Hazard could only lean back, arms resting casually on the table, but his gaze was sharp as it settled on you. “Y’know, I’m impressed with ye.”
You raised a brow, tilting your head slightly. “Oh? What for?”
“The way ye carry yerself” he said, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. "On stage, ye're aw fire an' fury—screamin' yer heart oot like ye're ready tae tear the place doon. But offstage? Calm, collected, like nothin' could rattle ye."
You chuckled softly, running a hand through your hair. “Gotta keep the chaos contained somewhere, right? Besides, someone’s gotta keep things in order when the band’s running wild.”
And that he knew well off.
===
As the two of you stepped out of the café, the cool evening air hit you like a sudden wave, causing you to shiver involuntarily. You hadn’t expected the drop in temperature, and the light jacket you’d thrown on earlier wasn’t doing much to keep the chill at bay.
Hazard glanced over, sharp as ever, and his eyes narrowed slightly. “Yer freezin’, hen?.”
“I’m fine” you lied, rubbing your arms for warmth.
“Ach, don’t be stubborn” he said with a smirk, already shrugging out of his hoodie. In one smooth motion, he tugged it over his head, revealing the black tank top underneath.
Your breath caught for a moment as you took in the sight of his broad shoulders and defined arms, muscles flexing slightly as he handed you the hoodie. It wasn’t flashy or overly showy—just solid, real strength that came from years of hard living.
“Here” he said, holding it out to you. "Won’t have ye catchin’ a cold on ma watch."
“Are you sure?” you asked, hesitating as you reached for it. “You’ll freeze without it.”
“I’ll manage” he replied with an easy grin, his voice low and warm. “Besides, I think I can handle a wee bit o’ cold better than you.”
Reluctantly, you slipped the hoodie on, the oversized fabric engulfing you in warmth. It smelled faintly of him—coffee, leather, and something undeniably Hazard.
“Better?” he asked, watching you pull the sleeves over your hands.
“Much” you admitted, your voice quieter now. “Thanks, Hazard.”
“No bother” he said, leaning back against a lamppost, the faint glow casting shadows over his sharp features. His tank top clung to his frame, and though he didn’t say anything about it, the slight curve of his lips told you he’d noticed you noticing.
“You’re not bad at this whole ‘gentleman’ thing, you know” you teased, trying to regain a bit of your composure.
He chuckled, crossing his arms in a way that made his muscles stand out even more. “Don’t let it get around, aye? I’ve got a reputation tae keep.”
You rolled your eyes, but the grin tugging at your lips betrayed you. “Your secret’s safe with me.”
As the two of you finally reached the point where your paths diverged, Hazard glanced at you one last time, his expression softer now. “Keep it, if ye want” he said, nodding toward the hoodie. “Looks better on ye anyway.”
“Don’t push your luck” you shot back, though the warmth in your tone dulled the sharpness of the words.
He laughed, the sound low and rich, and gave you a quick wink. “Worth a shot.”
Hazard walked beside you, his hands tucked into the pocket of his sweatpants. For a man who commanded a room with his presence, he was surprisingly unassuming now, blending easily into the quiet street.
“You know” you said, breaking the silence, “this was nice. A lot nicer than I expected.”
Hazard raised an eyebrow, mock-offended. “Ye thought it’d be terrible, did ye?”
“I thought it’d be... chaotic” you admitted with a grin. “But I’m glad it wasn’t”
“Well” he said, his tone teasing, “I’m glad I managed tae surprise ye. But I cannae promise I’ll always be this calm. Chaos is kinda my thing, after all.”
You laughed, pulling your phone from your pocket. “I think I can handle a little chaos. But I’m on the move again soon, so if you’ve got more surprises up your sleeve, you’ll have to text me about them.”
“Ye want tae keep in touch?”
“Why not?” you said with a shrug. “Tour gets lonely sometimes. Besides, it’s not every day I meet someone like you.”
For once, he seemed at a loss for words, his usual bravado faltering. “Aye, well... ye’ve got my number now. Use it whenever ye feel like it.”
“I will” you said with a smile. “I’ll try not to blow up your inbox too much.”
“Ach, blow it up all ye want” he replied with a grin, his confidence returning. “Better tae hear from ye than tae wonder what ye’re up tae.”
With that, the two of you exchanged goodbyes, and as you walked away, the oversized hoodie wrapped snugly around you, you couldn’t help but glance back once. Hazard was still standing there, hands tucked into his sweatpants pockets, watching you with an easy, unshaken confidence.

though I have to say goodbye,
Remember me,
Don’t let it make you cry.
— ♠️ —
A feeling washed over your form, it was a feeling of dread and you could felt something was wrong. You leaned on the kitchen counter, clutching your chest. You hate this feeling. Your Ghost was sleeping peacefully on their nest, probably next to the baby.
A baby cooed in the crib, somehow giving you strength to walk over to the crib. “Oh Ace.” He had his father’s looks, probably taking the credit with the eyes, except the hair and body. You reach down, placing your hand on his plump cheeks. His eyes — it has that same sparkle as Cayde — gaze at you with wonder.
As for your gaze, small droplets of water landed on Ace’s cheek. You were crying. This couldn’t get any worse as you pick up the baby, giving soft kisses to his cheek and forehead. Ghost had felt the change of your emotions. They woke up from their nap and floats towards you, brushing their shell to your other cheek.
This was not the end of it as you went to the meeting room. Zavala had summoned you and only you. Walking to the meeting room, you noticed that the Hunters weren’t acting like themselves. The Titans and Warlocks in their Fireteam or Clans were talking to them. If something has happened to the Hunters then something has happened to Cayde. Few Guardians takes a few glance to you, knowing who you are.
Ikora was there and Saladin too. This can’t be good.
Taking a deep breath, you push the door open with both hands and the sight immediately brought you to your knees.
“No, no, no, no.” But you didn’t fell to your knees, instead you rush over to your husband. The Guardian who went with him, they were silent, their head was down.
The tears came back. “Hey, wake up, Caydie…. please?” You said, cradling his face. The faceplates were in pieces, his optics. They were not light up and have the spark. It was dark. “Please, please don’t do this.”
A hand was placed on your hand. “It’s real, hun.” Amanda was here. “Guardian did their duty but Cayde… he did his best. Like every Guardian did. He will not be forgotten.”
“Yes, he will be remembered. A memorial should be build.” You let out a shaky sigh, making yourself to smile that wept. “It was all he ever wanted, a big statue of him.”
Zavala, Ikora and Saladin shared a look. The tradition must go on. Amanda rubbed your back, giving her shoulder for you. She knows what the trio are thinking. “Tradition is tradition.”
“I know. I’ll be the Hunter Vanguard.” Your Ghost appeared and went to his Ghost, looking at the bits of pieces of him. “Can’t run away from that, eh?”
“I’ll remember you.” You leaned over to his mouth plates, gave him a kiss. It will be the last kiss that you will remember from him. For him, it was at the Hangar, asking a good luck kiss from you.
— ♠️ —
For even if I’m far away, I hold you in my heart
I sing a secret song to you each night we are apart
— ♠️ —
The funeral wasn’t everyone favourite even to go to, but it was a must since they lost another Guardian. Some say a friend, a mentor, an annoyance but to you, he was your lover, your husband and your heart.
You had taken the mantle, his outfit has changed from the one you had seen. It was without the hood and you wonder, if Andal was there. He wouldn’t be lonely. He has Guardians and the people up there, accompanying him, paying his debts. Your Ghost wasn’t sure on what shell to wear but they use their old shell. The shell you had met him.
Ace was sleeping in the stroller. He had a little plushie of the gun that Cayde always use. Colonel was there, standing next to you, she was wearing the cloak that he gave her from the Dawning.
The Hunters had their own way of giving their respect to him. Zavala and Ikora had their own speech about him. You didn’t want to.
You decided to unleash your Super; the Gunslinger and use the Golden gun, using the bullets to remember him. A few Gunslingers, Dawnblades and Sunbreakers join in. Soon, every Guardian use their Supers to give the end a memory for Cayde.
— ♠️ —
Remember me, for I will soon be gone
Remember me, and let the love we have live on
And know that I’m with you the only way that I can be
So, until you’re in my arms again
Remember me
— ♠️ —
Walking down to the Hangar with Ace following you, the Guardians greeted you with a nod. The new ones; the Kinderguardians gave you a small wave. Ace waved back.
Thanks to the Guardian and Amanda’s help, Cayde’s ship, the Queen of Hearts was done. Ace was excited about seeing the ship that his father piloted. You have told him all about Cayde, even asking Zavala or Ikora to join in.
The young boy had that mischievous within him and you know where he got it.
“Where are we going, mom?”
“To visit dad and tell him our day.”
“Oh! Can it be a picnic? I have so many things to tell him!”
“Sure thing.” My Prince of Hearts.

Genji went as fast as he could at the medical center of the Overwatch headquarters. He was coming back from a mission, and was pretty tired. But he had to be fast. From afar, he noticed his brother, leaning against a wall.
"Where is she?" Genji exclaimed while taking off his helmet.
"Right here." Hanzo answered, pointing to the door next to him.
"Thanks, brother." He simply said before going into the room, hearing small grunts. "I'm here! Is everything all right?" He asked as he was getting rid of his sword and his helmet.
"Yes, it should be finish soon." Angela answered with a nod.
Genji was given a white coat by an another doctor, that he put on clumsily. With an hint of hesitation, he approached the bed. Your eyes met his, when he delicately take your hand in his metallic one. As you screamed while pushing, like Angela told you to do, you hold it tighter.
"I hate you, Genji!" You growled, holding his hand as tight as you could. "Why did you make me pregnant?" You cried between screams.
"Well… because you wanted a child and Angela found a solution." Genji answered naturally.
"Then why- Fuuuck! Why did you accept?" You breath heavily, following the rythm Angela was showing to you.
"Because I love you and that I was happy about that idea." He said, starting to panick.
"Well you shouldn't!" You growled once again.
"You can do it, the baby is almost there!" Angela cheered you up. "One last strong push!" You followed Angela's guidance and, not so long after, cries could be heard. "There she is." Angela said joyfully.
You breath out all the air that was still in your lungs, slowly turning your head toward Genji. He had a tiny smile while looking at the baby. He already seemed excited at the idea of holding the little girl.
"Genji?" You murmured, making your husband looking at you. "I love you… I love you so much… I'm sorry for what I said, I really didn't mean it…" You continued while sobbing because of all the stress you accumulated since the start of your pregnancy.
"I know, don't worry." He reassured you while caressing your head, before kissing your forehead.
"Here's your little one." Angela said with a smile. She gently put her in your arms, so you could hold her.
"She's so pretty." You said with a smile.
"She looks like you." Genji said with a slightly shaking voice because of the emotion.
"You're kidding? She's your spitting image." You contradicted with a chuckle.
"You think so?" Genji seemed actually surprised. You just nodded as an answer. He looked at your daughter, observing every details of her small face.
"Do you wanna hold her?" You suggested him.
"Can I?" He asked, his eyebrows rose.
"Of course, she's your daughter after all!" You answered, giving him your daughter.
With all the prudence he could have, he took her I'm his arms. He was so happy, and yet so nervous because of his metallic side. You couldn't hold back your smile at the sight of Genji already fond of your daughter. The door suddenly opened. Genji and you looked toward it, and saw Angela with Hanzo by her side. The older of the brothers slowly walked to Genji.
"She looks like you when you were a baby." Hanzo said with a look at your daughter.
"I told you she looked like you." You reminded him.
"I hope that you will take good care of her, not like that pet you had." Genji had a shocked expression on his face at Hanzo's words.
"I was a child, and that rabbit didn't die!" Genji was offended. "Plus, it's not the same… she is my little girl, my princess. I will not hurt her, nor let her having a bad moment in her life." He continued without turning his gaze away from the baby.
Hanzo looked at him without adding anything. Inside, he was just proud of his brother. Genji then had a bright smile, a tiny tear rolling down his cheek.
"I'm happy!" Genji declared in a laugh.
Hiiii!!! Could you write about hazard and reader bein festive little guys? Iike they r decorating for christmas and stuff!! Just some nice fluff (or anything else you wanna add i dont mind) 🪲
Decorating || Hazard x Reader Headcannons (gender neutral)
I hope you enjoy!!! This was very fun to write!!
December finally approached, the winter season bringing the leaves down with it, with snow carpeting the surfaces outside. For you, this would be a comforting time period, and something to be excited about. You’d already started bringing down those old boxes of decorations, reused time and time again. You were eager to spread your holiday cheer.
For Hazard, the holidays were dark. The icy chill of snow used to feel like burning on his skin, too poor to cover up. He could admire the lights around his hometown, but ma and pop were too busy drinking and fighting to decorate themselves. He’d look through the glass panes of bakery windows, dying to get his hand on some tasty scones… a chocolate yule log… even a cookie crumb would satisfy him. He could steal those treats from the outside, but the joy could never feel genuine knowing he couldn’t have it at home. While all the other kids got to play with their new toys, he had empty bottles.
No matter how hard any of the Phreaks had tried, Hazard wouldn’t participate in any wintertime festivities. He’d just lay around and drink and brood, possibly becoming the very thing he despised. You wanted to try and create a positive experience for your first xmas as a couple, and steer him away from that tortured experience.
While everyone was out, you dragged the boxes into the lair and began setting up a tree. The ornaments were all mismatched but it was cute, and instead of a star at the top there was instead a dog plushy with a little hat. You strung up one set of lights in the main area, but left the rest of the decorations in the box to be put up later. You wanted to start off small with this new interaction.
The last thing you wanted to do was make some festive sweets. Just as you were taking out the variety of cookies to cool, you hear their vehicle pulling into the garage. The Phreaks’ all have different reactions as they enter, surprised, delighted, fearful. Hazard is astonished, like he couldn’t believe his eyes. You approach the members with your cookie tray, and the ones that are able to eat are pleased. Fin looks like he might cry as he munches on his cookie, staring at the tree.
“Why’d ya go and do tha’?” He asks you. “For you.” You respond, leaning up to kiss his jaw. “Wanna help with the rest?”
He reaches the tallest parts of the room for you, putting up more lights and garlands. Little snowmen are placed on the mantle, and everyone has their own little socks hung up. Some of the others helped, too, and put their “ornaments” on the tree. Tools, photos, bottles and other sentimental garbage were scattered on the tree now, making it one of a kind.
The whole group gets together around the television, and you cuddle up beside Hazard under a heated blankie. Susie has on a delightful sweater, Boomslang holds on to a decorative pillow, and Revel has his own little Santa hat. As you’re all distracted by the holiday movie, Hazard has come to terms with his anger towards the season. Finding himself here, with you and his found family, he feels cherished and loved. Getting to enjoy the things he never had, he was a very lucky man to be here now. He looked like he wanted to cry, again.
On xmas day, you put a gift for everyone under the tree, and you were happy to find that other members brought gifts as well. You all sit together and open presents, everyone got something they desired. “No way! Strings for my bass?” “I needed this exact tool, how did you know?” “This is my favorite snack!”
Hazard presented you with a camera, to capture all your memories together with. You took pictures of this day to remember, and maybe you’ll put them all together in a scrapbook one day.
Hazard catches you busy playing with your new gifts, and he gestures up at the ceiling. Your eyes follow his hand and you find mistletoe hanging above you. “Ya know what tha’ means.” He grins before pulling you into a sweet kiss. As he pulls away he strokes your hair.
“Ya really made this special for me… I love ya so much.”
River Ward's questline is so important to me and imma tell you why;
because you can finally save someone.
you can't save Jackie (your best choom) and you can't save Evelyn (who didn't deserve what happened to her) and you can't save Scorpion (who didn't deserve what happened to him) and you can't really save the dolls at Clouds, but you can save Randy and some of the other victims that were taken as well, and i can't tell you how cathartic that was for me (and my V by extension) to know that Randy's gonna be able to come home to a family who loves him.
River, the ex-cop, really said, "I trust you and only you to help me find someone very dear to me," and then you actually??? succeed?????? yes, River, i fucking love you THANK YOU FOR TRUSTING ME
As the aircraft was slowly making its approach to the ground, you grew more and more nervous. Biting your fingernails, you glanced around at the heroes who you happened to befriend. There was Zenyatta, you and him didn't talk much but he seemed very calm and collected in battle. Then Mercy, or Angela as she was most commonly called, was always a wonderful person to talk to however whenever she was treating a patient you knew to never disturb her. Next there was McCree, he had a much more "rough n' tough" exterior but whenever you guys were off duty he was a bit of a charmer, though you never fell for it. Orisa followed you around a lot, mostly because she was programmed to protect others but she also genuinely enjoyed your company, or at least, you thought it was genuine. It's hard to tell with robots.
Now there was Sigma, a bit of a newer addition to the crew but he was a strong fighter and an interesting person to be around. Despite his seemingly split personalities, you two have managed to have very pleasant conversations when everyone else is asleep. Finally..Genji. Genji was the hero everyone strived to be, or that's how you saw him. He was fun and goofy whenever you guys were off the job yet calculated and passionate when in the midst of a fight, but one trait persisted on and off the battlefield: his flirty-ness. McCree was a charmer, more "old fashioned" in his wits but Genji was a lot more audacious and up-front in his advances. Unfortunately, time doesn't stop for your daydreams so by the time you got to thinking about Genji the aircraft came to a particularly rough landing, jostling you around where you so happen to fall onto none other than: the cyborg ninja himself. It took you a second to fully realize what happened, as you were so busy in thought you disconnected from the outside world. That was, until you heard Genji's robotic yet endearing voice emit from behind the mask.
"Y/N, I know you're falling for me but you don't have to be so literal about it~" He teased, holding you up so you wouldn't hit the floor. Your face went hot, you still haven't quite gotten used to his banter yet. You quickly stood up properly, removing your arms from his hands. He chuckled spotting your reaction, he had a habit of doing that. "Relax Y/N, you know I'm just teasing."
That was true, but you still couldn't help but wonder..'No, now is not the time Y/N, you're about to go into battle for f×cks sake.' You put on a smile, shaking your head lightly in a playful manner. "Really Genji? Do you ever stop?"
"No Y/N, no he does not." The cowboy spoke up, chuckling lightly as he flicked his cigar, sending light sparks on the floor. "He won't stop talking 'bout ya eithe-"
"Jesse! What did I tell you about the smoking?!" Angela spoke up, quite literally a guardian angel in this moment as she distracted McCree from spilling all of Genji's secrets. The two went on to bicker, however the aircraft broke out in silence when the doors started to open slowly. You took a deep breath, knowing that this could possibly be your last mission. Though this was the case with every mission. Hanamura…Where Genji grew up. It was truly beautiful. Y'know..despite the smoke and fire from a battle that seemingly had already begun. After another deep breath, you and your team jumped off the aircraft. As you jumped, you looked over and made eye contact with Genji. He seemed to smile, giving you a thumbs up for good luck.
You were grateful your team was victorious. You were terrified of what could go wrong, of the people they could harm. Luckily, everybody was safe. Well, everybody but you. Currently, you were buried underneath the rubble, a wound on your head and you were 90% sure you broke your foot or perhaps your whole leg. You had tried calling out for your teammates, but the oxygen was getting thin. You weren't even panicking, because you knew your team had won the battle. That's all that mattered. That everyone else was safe. You closed your eyes, blood dripping down from the wound in your head. You let out a sigh, and everything stopped. Things went black, you felt numb. You were sure this was it. Until you heard a voice that was all too familiar.
"Y/N!!" The cyborg ran towards you in full distress. Fighting the calming blackness that over took you, you opened your eyes.
After coughing, you called out. "Genji…I-I'm here.." It was soft, and you weren't even sure if he could hear you. Hearing how panicked Genji was, was enough reason for you to keep fighting. He ran over to you, his enhanced robot hearing helping him greatly.
"Y/N!" He called out once more. "Y/N I'm here." He kept muttering random words, thanking the heavens you were alive, saying how stupid you were to go on your own, and then scolding himself because he was just so happy you were still here. He did all that as he moved the rubble off of you with ease. Genji relaxed greatly when he finally saw your face. Gently, he picked you up. You shuddered a bit against the cold metallic suit but quickly relaxed, your strength being all gone. "You're safe, Y/N. I promise, nothing bad will happen to you again." You nodded your head gently before closing your eyes once more, grateful for your savior.
When you finally awoke, the hiss of metal disconnecting was the first thing you heard. You stirred a little as you slowly gained back all your senses. You were laying on some kind of bed, and you were holding someone's hand. You could immediately tell who's it was though, the metallic fingers gently caressing your knuckles. You couldn't help the smile that etched on your face. You also felt some tubes run through your arm. 'Must be an IV..' Regarding your leg, it already had a cast on it and was elevated. Angela must have cared for you. After a moment, slowly, you opened your eyes while turning to look at Genji. You were a bit surprised though, when you saw he had taken his mask off. His face was scar ridden, but that never made him less attractive to you. Really you only saw him like this when he was injured, or sleeping. He was looking down, tears in his eyes. You tried reaching your other hand out to cup his face but he was a bit too far away. "Genji..C'mere.." You said softly. He immediately shot up, looking at you. The tears finally fell and he squeezed your hand.
"Y/N!! You're okay!" He smiled, tears still coming down. He leaned forward, planting a gentle kiss to your hand that he was holding. The action made you flush, yet you continued to look at the ninja in front of you. You gently cupped his face in your other hand. You couldn't tell if it was because you were weak or if you had just grown more confident, but you weren't as shy as normal. "Y/N, I am so so so sorry for letting anything bad happen to you. I promise I'll protect you now, with all my being." You smiled sadly, you didn't like the fact that Genji blamed himself and yet you were grateful for his future protection.
"Genji, none of this is your fault. I wandered off on my own, it's alright. I'm safe now with you." You rubbed your thumb softly against his rough cheek. He kissed the side of your hand that was cupping his face, and yet again you flushed. He's never done anything like that; he's never kissed any part of you before. So, a part of you couldn't help but wonder why he did it. Was it just from a place of protectiveness? Or did he truly have feelings for you? "What's important is that everyone else is safe, we saved the city." You spoke up after a moment.
The cyborg merely chuckled weakly, giving your hand yet another kiss. "Y/N, I would let a thousand cities burn to the ground as long as you were safe." He smiled softly, looking at your flustered face. "Sure it's great that we saved everyone…But if you weren't okay, I couldn't live with myself." He explained, but it seemed like he was holding himself back from…what? His cold knuckles rubbed against yours, giving you butterflies.
You smiled as well, and squeezed Genji's hand softly. "Hey..Don't worry about that." You coughed, your torso raising from the bed with the movement. The cyborg's face immediately filled with worry. "I'm safe, you're safe..the people are safe." You reassured him, laying back against the slightly elevated hospital bed.
"Yes but-" He started, but then sooner than he had started, gave up. He shook his head, and with his free hand grabbed the missing part to his helmet. "Get some rest, Y/N. I'll be back, I have some paperwork Jack needs me to fill."
I roll my eyes at the mention, but understand regardless. "Go ahead, I know how strict he can be." You gave a weak chuckle and the ninja before you slowly let go of your hand, as if it pained him to do so. You closed your eyes, falling asleep to the soft hiss of Genji's metallic helmet connecting.
After an hour or so, you woke up to the sound of the door opening. "Genji? Is that you?" You called out quietly, head still feeling groggy from your nap. You heard a feminine laugh, and immediately recognized it as Angela's. You slowly opened your eyes and watched as she put her rubber gloves on.
"Sorry to disappoint, but no, it's not Genji. Just your resident doctor." She smiled, walking over the to monitor you were connected to, looking it over.
You blushed lightly and shook your head. "I didn't mean to look disappointed, he just…said he'll be back." You said, feeling a bit stupid for expecting him to be back this soon. "He's probably busy still.." You mumbled, trying to make yourself feel better.
Angela looked down on you and checked your head wound, smiling softly. "Don't worry Y/N, he'll be back. Jack is..upset that he ran off to find you." You tilted your head a bit. "No- No don't do that please, I need to make sure your wound isn't infected." You moved your head back, but still had many questions.
"I don't understand, why would Jack be upset at that? Doesn't he always want to save as many people as possible?" You asked, confused. You saw Angela take a deep breath out of the corner of your eye before she seemingly made up her mind.
"When we couldn't find you, we all assumed you were dead. We were given direct orders to report straight back, as there was word that there was an emergency somewhere else. Luckily some other agents were free so they got there in time, but Genji insisted on staying and looking for you. We were all heartbroken, really, but Genji…He really didn't seem like he'd live without you." She confessed, turning back to her counter with medical supplies. "Young love, right?" She joked, trying to lighten the mood.
You were stunned, and didn't say a word. 'Young love?' You thought. 'Does he..really care about me like that?' You asked yourself, thinking it was way too good to be true. But how could you ignore the obvious signs any longer? As you were overthinking your crush on the cyborg, Angela had some good news.
"You should be able to leave tomorrow. Of course you won't be able to walk, and you can't go on any missions with us, but you won't be confined to this 'hospital' for long." She smiled. "Genji has already volunteered to be your personal nurse, seems to think he can do a better job than me, but I'm sure you'll be fine on your own. We all know you're a fighter, Y/N."
You thanked her and appreciated the compliments, but you were obviously preoccupied. By mere coincidence, someone knocked on the door about five minutes after Angela knocked. "Come in!" You called, flicking through the channels of the T.V in the room. Genji emerged from the door, holding a small bouquet of flowers. You smiled seeing him, along with the nice gift. "Aww Genji, you didn't have to." You said.
His robotic chuckle emerged from the mask, and he closed the door behind him. "I've wanted to give them to you for a while, actually. So yes, it was very necessary." You couldn't see him, but from his tone of voice you can tell that he smiled. He sat back down on the chair next to your bed, putting the flowers on a nearby table. You two sat in silence for a bit before you spoke up.
"Genji..You've been really sweet to me today. First with saving me-" You started.
"Technically that was yesterday." He chimed in.
You rolled your eyes with a smile. "Oh hush, you know what I mean. What I'm trying to say- Or ask, rather is…Do you..have feelings for me? Maybe I'm reading this all wrong but you kept kissing my hands and got me flowers and-" You started going on a nervous ramble, hoping that something made sense and if you were wrong Genji didn't hate you. You were so nervous, in fact, that you didn't hear his helmet disconnect. In a moment's notice, Genji was mere inches from your face.
He smiled, and nodded his head. One of his hands grabbed your own, while the other tucked your hair behind your ear. "Of course I do, Y/N. How could I not? I really do care for you, and want to have a relationship with you." He kissed your forehead softly. "I'm sorry I waited this long to tell you, I just didn't want to ruin things. I thought maybe you had someone else.."
At that you chuckled, and shook your head. "No, Genji, nobody else. Nobody else but you." You leaned your face closer to the other, neither of you connecting your lips yet.
"May I kiss you?" Genji asked, voice a whisper as if he's scared that he'll ruin the mood.
"Of course you may." You answered, and just melted feeling Genji's lips on yours. There were a few scars around his mouth, but you knew that and it felt surprisingly nice. It was like a perfect moment, one that the two of you were dreaming about forever. After a moment you pulled away, wrapping your arms around Genji. "I love you, so much Genji." You admitted with the biggest smile on your face.
"I love you too, Y/N." He said, with an equally big smile on his face.
How would OW characters love you?
(Ft. Reaper, Genji, Ramattra, Hanzo, Venture and Cassidy)
A/N: It's been quite a while, but I'm happy to share a little thing I've written.
At first, Gabriel would refuse the idea of being in love. There was no way the thing he had become was deserving of love - nor did you deserve to be with anything like him. The confession would probably come from you, or the feelings you two have for each other would simply be locked away and forgotten with time. Unsure touches, hesitancy in communication would plague your relationship early on, leading to frustrating fights and time spent apart.
Gabriel had spent so long being Reaper, that he had forgotten how to treat another gently, softly. Years of being one of Talon’s obedient and ruthless weapon left him scarred, almost a husk of the man he one day was. Patience, lots of it, would be needed to build a healthy relationship with him. With time, he would slowly start to mimic the actions you did to him - learning from you on how to love and be loved - this could lead to Gabriel learning to love you just the way you want him to.
Not big on romantic gestures, and doesn’t like PDA. He has an underlying fear that if anyone were to find about his weak spot for you, it would mean harm your way.
A cupid 's arrow.
It would not take him long to recognize the emotions he was experiencing, as the excitement and exhilaration of a new love were familiar to him due to his youth. The anxiety and giddy feelings were difficult to overlook or ignore. He would not hesitate to express his feelings, as he was quick at noticing if someone reciprocated his affections based on their reactions to his affections. He was accustomed to this aspect of a relationship and would confidently touch and remain close to the person he was interested in whenever possible.
Due to his past, Genji would have an underlying anxiety about performing well as a partner. He was good at sweet talk, enough to make your heart flutter - but when it came down to serious conversations and fights, he would almost shut down. In the past, whenever these things happened, he would simply dump his past partners and move on - but he didn’t want to do that now. So he would be awkward, asking you what he could do to amend the wrongs and fix the situation. He would heavily depend on you to guide him in that way.
Wouldn’t be able to hide your relationship, almost always bringing you up in a conversation. Excitedly calling you his partner.
Love? How futile.
He had no time for such weak emotions, no time to spend worrying over your safety when you were a human - the kind he hated with his very being. No. Ramattra only spent his attention and utmost care towards the cause he believed in.
Or that's what he desperately wanted to believe.
But the amount of stress his system felt when he saw you in the middle of the battlefield, how he was reluctant to end your life right where you stood, proved it all to him that he was *wrong*. Ramattra would take what felt like a lifetime to confess, seeing you sick and injured pushed him to it - the reminder of your mortality severely affecting him. Would try to do everything at once one day, showcasing his innocent and lack of experience in *love*.
Every word, every moment would be recorded through his optics and stored forever in his hard-drive. Ramattra’s touches sometimes felt… ghostly. As if he was afraid of breaking you. But he was always sure to impose his threatening aura around strangers.
A silent reminder of your importance.
Throughout the most part of Hanzo's life, there were only two things he felt the most. The bitter regret and the pain of tomorrow. Losing everything came at a great cost and it shined clearly when you met Hanzo for the first time, when you tried to befriend him - the look in his eyes. Hanzo would avoid you emotionally once he feels… different. Part of him knows what he feels but another one denies it with all of his strength. Not for pride, simply because he's afraid of losing once again.
A wall to talk to. His indifference at the start would drive you crazy, driving you away until he finally realizes how much more empty he feels with your absence. Even so, does a small act of servitude by giving you your favorite food - a small attempt to see if you still care for him. Just enough so he can *try* and allow himself to feel the gentle feeling of love.
Small smiles your way, brushing your hand with his while passing by. All small but mean so, so much for Hanzo. There is no shyness, just gentleness, and no fear of showcasing such feelings in front of others.
Spending most of their life researching and excavating did really not leave any space for romance. Venture would be quick to accept the feeling, the rush of adrenaline and giddy feeling quickly taking over their mind as they realized they liked you. It would be obvious to anyone around them. The way their eyes would be searching for you in the room, quickly asking someone if they've seen you and when they do finally see you - the biggest smile they can muster.
Your name would be mentioned by them every chance they get.
A confession would take mere days, and if you weren't totally sure about them - they'd at least hope you'd let them take you out on dates so you can get to know each other better. Small trinkets of their affection would be given to you, crystals and rocks being the main source of it, secretly hoping you'd try and find the meaning of them.
Their only flaw is being overly excited about the feeling, sometimes overly romanticizing you and getting disappointed when you don't reach their standards.
Smooth.
Cassidy would recognize the blush that would dust his cheeks when you were around, how he seemed to want to impress and sweet talk you. That would be his way of gaining your favor slowly, calling you sweet nicknames and trying to charm you with his words. A small brush of his shoulders on yours, opening doors for you and tipping his hat when he passes by - all small acts that are meant to sweep you off of your feet.
A relationship would bloom slowly, as he would like to ride out the early fluttering feeling of love. Going through all the small showcases such as holding your hand, gifting you something meaningful before taking you out on a date and asking you two to finally be oficial. To everyone else around you, it was clear that Cassidy was courting you - and no one else dared to attempt anything. Whispers of his past holding them back on doing so.
Cassidy’s flaw would be being too warm or too cold. Either giving you hurtful but helpful advice, or comforting and unhelpful ones. It would solely depend on his mood, but you can always tell when he doesn't really wanna make decisions. Sometimes he just wants to exist, to let himself breath without any worries.
• Blaze’s strong need to keep hold of her responsibility as the princess of her kingdom was due to her strict father, the emperor. He kept her isolated throughout most of her childhood.
• She was taught swordsmanship as even though she can master her pyrokinesis, it’s still part of the royal tradition for her to learn.
• Whenever her mind is feeling stressed, she goes down to the beaches to meditate or quietly read a storybook under the trees, only temporarily though.
• Every time she sneezes, her ponytail grows into a burst of fire; it’s even worse when she catches a cold.
• As much as she’s embarrassed to admit it, but Blaze has a bit of a sweet tooth. She loves it when Amy and Cream share desserts with her although she attempts to hide it.
• Her favourite genre of books are romantic novels (the nicely written ones of course) she can get lost within the bittersweetness of the stories, to the point when Marine thinks she’s ignoring her.
• The reason why she’s scared of heights is due to her chasing a butterfly up to the highest top of her castle once as a child… she nearly slipped off.
Bonus one w/ Silver
• Somewhere, sometime, the Sol Emeralds called her once again to Sonic’s dimension only to see everything in flames. There she met a white psychic hedgehog and agreed to stay around until she can find some answers for her own.
