Shimada Genji Relationship Headcanons

Cus who dOESN’T want to have a green cyborg ninja as a friend/lover?? Note that this is referring to genji as he is post-overwatch recall.

I swear with him as he is, you cannot ever get a poor first impression with him (unless you are racist against omnics then well rip to you cus YOU MISSING OUT BRUH).

He looks so cool with his appearance when you first see him, with sleek metal armor and green highlights, and is incredibly friendly and polite when you greet him.

Zenyatta’s teachings have given Genji a reason to have a deep introspection with himself, and make sense of his identity. Thanks to this, he is able to accept himself as it is, process his emotions in a more healthy manner and be at peace with what he has done and what has been done to him. As a result, he is rather chill and easy-going.

He’s also very open-minded and accepting on what you guys want to do whenever you spend quality time together. Wanna ramble about some cool interest you got? He’s attentive listener. Not feeling up for talking but still want some company? Thats fine, he’s ok with meditating/reading/playing games on his own while you do your own thing in the same room. Wanna do a prank and dye mccree’s entire wardrobe bright pink? Oh hell yea, he’s already getting his hands on some pink dye online that’s going to come in few days time.

Yes, Genji is also game to do anything silly or outrageous for fun(so long as it isn’t too dangerous of course cus he doesn’t want anyone to get hurt). He may have mellowed down a lot since young but that doesn’t mean he has lost that mischievous streak within him. After all, once a lil shit, always a lil shit. :^)

Being a lil shit, while can be entertaining and harmless fun at times, might end up causing some issues. While Genji is a bit more calm compared to his younger self, he is still impulsive. He is a person more focused on feelings than logic after all. As such, there will be times where he spontaneously acts in a way that he regrets later. Thankfully he will be apologetic and do his best to make up for whoever he has hurt unintentionally.

For being in a ROMANTIC relationship with Genji, ho ho ho.

He has experience of being in several romantic relationships for sure, from previous trysts during his younger years. I like to think he has been with men and women, so he definitely knows how to treat his partners good regardless of gender. Definitely used that time of his to explore his sexuality.

So sweet and attentive?? Like bruh he has experience and will use that to make you feel loved as much as possible. Not shy in giving u compliments (and he def likes seeing u flustered he is cheeky that way). Small gifts from his travels that showcase his thoughtfulness. And the teachings from Zenyatta just upgraded him to incredibly respectful and polite person. Perfect boyfriend holy sheez what else can u ask for.

Complete and utter show-off. Like cmon you cannot tell he is completely humble looking at the cinematics. Disappearing into a flurry of smoke and leaves a sparrow’s feather for Hanzo at the end?? Comes in at the EXACT fucking time the new overwatch team needed help with that giant omnic? Boy is a dramatic lil shit, that’s for sure. So is his older bro. I’m convinced it’s in the Shimada genes.

Ok, he haaas been humbled a little thanks to Zenyatta, but that doesn’t mean he’s modest at all lol nope. He will do all those cool ninja moves in front of you and pREEN at the fucking attention u give him. Dont ignore him too much lol cus he will be persistent and escalate it.

Sliiiighty insecure about his looks after that fatal incident. It was something he used to take pride in and now it’s all scarred. He doesn’t blame Hanzo of course because he understands that the family was incredibly toxic to the both of them. But you know, his face is still mostly covered and he doesn’t show it often. If he removes the mask in front of you, thats when you know that he trusts you a lot. Cherish it.

The strength & narrative of this DOTM movie would’ve been the mentor /student relationship between Sentinel & Optimus. 

Character driven story about “Bonds & Corruption”

Sentinels death would’ve held more weight if the humans had much much much much less screentime:

 Here we get to see flashbacks of Orion Pax under Sentinels guidance on Cybertron, the mentorship. 

Even a spry Bee with his true voice, a young scout. 

Younger Ironhide, a combat instructor.

Jazz, stylistic, smooth talking upcomer in the Ranks, BFF with Cliffjumper.

Ratchet, studious, friend of Orions.

We see them briefly, but enough to hit the emotional chords. The focus is Orion & Sentinel.

Thus, we see Cybertron’s culture, the AllSpark in it’s original glory, everything.

Orion, he serves as an archivist, a meek yet brilliant librarian, and Sentinel Prime; Elite Cybertronian Defender, Commander. 

Sentinel seeing potential, and a good soul in Orion, takes him under his wing. 

Teaching his philosophies & principles to the young scholar, here we see Sentinels warmer side. His true self:

Before the War

 And tragically, as the War dragged on. 

As Orion ascended to Prime status, came the dark toll of what the War did to Sentinel Prime & his sanity:

Thus his descent into the Decepticon way of thinking, the ends justifying the means; His fall being sealed with the deal with the Devil, the “Deal with Megatron.”

Which we’d actually SEE happen.  

Fast forward, Sentinel is found. 

The pillars are the mission now, yet The Autobots are collecting them while Sentinel is withholding his true intentions.

By now, Jazz is indeed alive in Movie 1,2, & most of 3:

 And it is here, In the third film after getting to know them as characters, not CGI props with stereotypical traits; That Sentinel kills both Ironhide & Jazz in a brutal 2v1. 

 Showing a more badass, less bullshit death for two legacy Autobots, them using teamwork & veteran combat tactics against a seasoned Prime. With swelling Jablonsky epic score. 

And displaying Sentinels strength as he defeats them both with sheer cunning, and superior skills.

 The Setup of the fight-

-is they would be on recon to look for pillars, just the three of them as a squad, while Bee, & Ratchet are elsewhere. And Optimus is solo. 

Sentinels plan would be to weed down the Autobots to just Optimus remaining, for he still cares for his friend and wants to possibly turn him.

So for opposition to be minimum, so he attacks the 2 unsuspecting Autobots. 

They would have him on the defense at first, Similar to (Ultra Magnus & Wheeljack vs Predaking fight): Brutal, gritty, well executed.

They would overwhelm him initially with sequences of team attacks:

-only for the fight to suddenly turn when Ironhide charges in for another punch, Sentinel feints and spear thrusts into him; Holding him in place long enough to use his rust corrosion rifle. 

Weakening Ironhide, but Ironhide delivers a vicious punch to Sentinel Prime, which he blocks with his shield but is sent back several feet, showing Ironhide’s sheer might & resolve.

Jazz distracting Sentinel with a smooth flying kick to the back, landing next to Ironhide:

Jazz: “Looks like it’s do or die! You still with me man?“

Ironhide: *Aggressive snort

Jazz: “Nuff said.”

A determined Jazz & Enraged Ironhide continue to take on Sentinel in a gruesome battle, in which he (Sentinel) turns up the heat & starts fighting offensively. 

He eventually kills them by wearing down their stamina, cutting them in precise locations, using his shield to bash their sliced areas & joints, using their strength against them, using wits over brawn.

Experience vs numbers.

Here they die a Warriors death, fighting to the end. Giving him plenty of bruises & injuries from the battle before they fall.

Not snapped in half comically then tossed like trash, no cheap shots from behind then faded into rust & metal.

He would even comment on his respecting their skill & resolve, acknowledging their ability, before ending them.

They Fall Like Warriors

Sentinel would excuse their deaths & his injuries on a Decepticon ambush.

The deaths of their friends deliver a massive blow to Ratchet, Bee, & Optimus. Who’s had the longest history with Jazz and Ironhide.

However Ratchet would play a major role in discovering the truth through forensics, and would inform Optimus the truth of their deaths from Sentinels wounds alone having traces of Ironhides’ rounds;  Prime doubts this until it’s too late, wanting to believe otherwise.

Which begins Prime’s descent into despair & darkness, which we see in AOE

 His disappointment in his mentor, the betrayal, the loss of Jazz & Ironhide (Which is given more memorial & respect), and eventually having to kill Sentinel, broke Optimus. 

Turning him into a colder, darker Prime, just like Sentinel was. 

Sentinels mistake was being absent for so long, he didn’t realize the Orion he knew, was gone. Optimus is a leader, a fighter, also a commander as Sentinel was. A Legend.

No longer Orion Pax, no longer the underling. Now a Rival.

If we got that film, “Dark Of The Moon” being the “Revenge of the Sith” of the TF Trilogy, a tale of corruption:

This scene would have you feeling for these characters, you’d feel the investment:

Having to see Optimus kill him in cold energon. It would actually mean something because we saw in the beginning of the movie, the good Sentinel was capable of.

We would’ve also gotten to see their History, their bond; And that bond’s slow, gradual destruction.

Two examples of Cybertron’s finest becoming infected by the harsh reality that regardless of your intentions, good or bad-

War takes no sides, it’s unfair,  and is as ruthless & persistent as you’re willing to take it or make it.

LEGACY of Advancement devolved into Savagery & War from one Bots dark, immovable ambition, Megatron.

Sentinel’s goal of saving his race, a mission born of good intentions executed by horrific means, even killing his own allies; An otherwise honorable bot, led astray by an evil one, preying on his insecurities as a Leader, powerless to defend his people, from themselves.

All so Megatron could get closer to the Allspark, by proxy overthrowing the system, The concept of Primes, the Counsel, everything he sees as shackles on their society from becoming what he feels it should be.

His Twisted Utopia.

Sentinel would otherwise be marveled by Earth’s natural beauty, torn between his compelling duty of reviving a now dead Cybertron & his principles of leaving Earth it’s Freedom, for according to him at one point, it was it’s right. Letting Earth live; At the expense of his own.

And even doubting his mission to save Cybertron; Due to having to kill Jazz & Ironhide. They were true Autobots, serving the cause, dying for what?

They were Cybertronians of his own creed. He killed them to save “everyone”? His mind is warped by centuries, millennia of war, butchering, & massacre’s. The killing of his brothers in arms, daunts him, but not for long.

But we at least see that it did something to him.

For in his mind, he convinced himself that they & many others were merely a means, a (((sacrifice for victory))) to save the many. All stemming from his shame of not being able to save Cybertron from itself.

Driven mad with grief & regrets and misguided methods:

Except someone who he saw as a Student, friend, even perhaps a son figure; Came to kill him, not save him. 

For the moment he slew Ironhide & Jazz, he sealed his fate.

The battle would involve Ratchet, an enraged Bumblebee & Prime initially. But due to the involvement of other Decepticons (The Wave Brothers Shockwave & Soundwave WHO ARE NOT killed recklessly here and Barricade & Starscream who are given legitimate screentime to be actual threats)

Thus, It would become a duel between Primes: For Megatron would leave Sentinel behind to his doom, as bait to further his own ends.

The Primes would fight & fight until their weapons gave out, wore, and shattered due to their godly strength and the unique circumstance of emotion behind their blows:

One striving to reach the other for reconciliation, and the younger one striving to avenge his friends; Enraged by betrayal & drunk with anger against someone he knew & respected. 

A state we’ve never seen Optimus in.

Becoming a brutal hand to hand deathmatch. 

The fight reaching it’s climax, it’s a deadlock stalemate, they’re too even; The protege not only managed to reach Sentinels level but nearly surpass him.

Sentinel picks up a shard of metal from a sword, jumping toward Optimus- Prime feints backward, ultimately using the Matrix itself (via chest beam) to obliterate Sentinel.

 Sentinel turning away the Matrix earlier in the film would be Sentinel himself knowing he was not worthy, he was ashamed.

Bleeding out, with a gaping hole in his spark. Sentinel pleads with Optimus to help his agenda, pleads slurs into an apology to Cybertron itself.. then his eyes go dark.

Fact is, character wise, Sentinel fell too deep. 

And by killing him violently, severing ties with someone he respected the most, would cause Optimus to also fall further into despair & gradual madness, darkness.

Killing Sentinel was an emotional drive, it wasn’t a satisfactory conclusion nor was it closure for Optimus.

Sentinel, who genuinely cared about Orion once; In spite of his good intentions for Cybertron, left Optimus only a legacy of pain, betrayal, and death.

Sentinel, if left unchecked was going to unintentionally repeat Cybertron, on Earth.

In AOE, Optimus, with the help of Bee, Ratchet and the Autobots that remain & depend on him, he would have moral support. 

With CliffJumper and The Dinobots joining the team respectively in Ironhide’s stead.

(The Dinobots would legitimately join the ranks as an Elite squad of Autobot Warriors that remained on Cybertron) 

Respected, feared, intelligent warriors. Not dumb dino bums.

And Cliffjumper, responding to the news of Jazz’s demise, also joins Optimus’ squad, ready to take the fight to the “Cons” for his fallen friend.

And with the counsel of Arcee, Optimus’ new Second in command

The newly acting 1st Lt. respectively supplanting Jazz

ARCEE: Primes close friend from Cybertron’s early War efforts, she respects him, and he trusts her. 

Trust, something he struggles with at this point. So her having his trust, means she’s the real deal.

The Older Sister figure of the squad, where Bee is the energy, Ratchet is the rational, she is the glue to the teams morale.

-Thus, Optimus would gradually recover, mostly, from his darkness in AOE 

He would still be hardened, but he’s still Optimus.

For he still has purpose, with purpose, he has a chance to prevent the same incident with Sentinel from happening again. 

Except now (again) he’s a lot less trusting, more brutal in battle, but self aware of himself when and if he goes too far. 

With that said, In AOE:

He gradually regains his strength in that firm gentleness his character  always commanded, hope, and compassion that he once gave off in 2007.

But it’s gradual, in this version of DOTM, he went through some serious shit.

And the witnessing of his very human struggles with redemption of ones own darkness is the testimony of Hope that he being a “Christ like figure” stands for, ergo Superman etc.

A good message of overcoming inner demons, relying on those who rely on you. A change for the better, is not instant, it’s a process.

Showing character development. Change, something Sentinel could not do; Even in his final moments.

And Megatron still lurks out there, plotting, growing his own ranks, and waiting:

And this current Optimus, unlike his past self will not seek to appeal to Megatron. No talk, no banter, no speeches, no debate, not this time:

A Tragic Tale, The Fall Of 2 Primes 

Special Delivery (Cayde-6 x Reader)

“Here are the items you missed on your last mission. Hope to see you again!” You said to a fellow Guardian. He thanked you and walked off.

Today, you were helping your friend Kadi55-30 at the postmaster office. The other day you saw how much items she had to deliver and asked if she wanted help. Kadi nodded eagerly and thanked you in advance.

Another Guardian walked up to you.

“Name please.” You said sweetly.

“Nina!” The Guardian stated, smiling brightly.

You walked to the back of the small vendor and looked in the ‘N’ section. You found a small box with a hand canon and a warlock arm band. You walked back and placed the box in front of the girl.

“Here you go Nina! All the stuff you missed on your last mission. Enjoy!” You said. Nina nodded and giggled before skipping away.

“(Y/N), do you mind making a few delivers for me?” Kadi asked, as she walked up next to you.

“Sure! Just tell me where to take them.” You reply. Kadi waddles to the back and returns with a stack of colorful boxes. She hums while she unstacks them. You knew a few of the names on the boxes and blinked in surprise when you see a box for a certain Exo. You gently picked it up and attempted to see what was inside. Before you could get a peak, Kadi made a squealing noise. You looked up and saw her rush towards you.

“You okay Kadi?” You asked, voice full of worry. Kadi gently took the box from you and taped the top shut. You gave her a questioning look.

“It’s a s-special order for Cayde.” Kadi tried to explain, her voice cracking a little. You nodded slowly and picked up all the other boxes.

“Please don’t open it again.” Kadi said quietly.

“I won’t. I promise.” You reassured her, walking off to deliver the packages.

You headed towards the Bazaar and climb some stairs that lead to Guardian apartments.

You quickly arrived on to the first stop and placed the box at the door. You rang the door bell and skipped away.

Next, you took the elevator and went up to floor 4. You walked down the hall and found the correct room. You rang the doorbell and a Guardian answered. You happily handed them their deliver and they thanked you before running inside excitedly to open it.

Now, all you had to do was deliver Cayde’s package. You knew he wasn’t at his apartment. He was probably at his Vanguard station in the Hangar. You hummed as you made your way to Cayde’s area.

There were a few Hunters talking with the Exo. They needed a quest to do together and Cayde was deciding which one to give them. You patiently waited until he was free.

“(Y/N)! How’s my favorite Guardian?” Cayde said, eyes twinkling.

“Hey Cayde. I’m helping Kadi today and she needed me to deliver this to you.” You replied, placing the box on the table. Cayde quickly grabbed it and looked at you.

“You… didn’t happen to open it, did you?” He asked. You shook your head. Cayde let out a sigh of relief.

“What did you get?” You asked, still curious.

Cayde looked over to you, eyes searching your face. He scratched the back of his head awkwardly before he gently grabbed your arm and pulled you behind his workspace. You blushed as he turned to you. You could feel him heating up.

“I umm.. I actually g-got something for you…” Cayde said, resting the box in your arms. Your face lit up and you quickly open the package.

Inside, was a custom made cloak. It was black, blue, and white. There were a few stripes on it but what caught your attention were the symbols at the bottom. There was a white Ace of Spaces and blue Heart.

“I hope you l-like it.. the Ace is to remind you of me and the Heart is for umm…” Cayde trailed off, looking at the floor. “It means… that.. you are my Queen of Hearts… so… it’s us…”

You squealed and jumped onto Cayde, wrapping your arms and legs around him. He let out a yelp before chuckling and wrapping his arms around you tightly.

“Thank you Cayde. I love it so much!!!” You said before peppering his face with kisses.

Cayde heated up even more and started to stuttered while you stopped and realized what you had done.

You pulled away and hid your face in the new cloak. Cayde shook his head before walked over to you and pulling you tightly against him. He gently tilted your head to look up and he pressed his lips against yours. The kiss was gentle and sweet. Cayde hummed happily and you wrapped your arms around his neck.

You two separated and blushed madly at one another. Cayde stepped around you and took off your cloak before putting on the one he got you. You twirled around and giggled as Cayde whistled is amusement.

“Looks good on you, (Y/N).” He said, voice full of admiration. You bowed gracefully before hugging him.

“Thank you Cayde. This is the best gift I have ever received.” You said, kissing his horn. Cayde’s face heated up and snuggled into you hug.

“Do you have to help Kadi more or can you stay here with me?” Cayde asked while you two walked back to his station.

“I’m sure Kadi can hold down the fort.” You said, taking his hand in yours. Cayde kissed the top of your hand. A few Guardians giggled and cheered. You blushed while Cayde chuckled.

The rest of the day consisted of kisses, helping Cayde assign jobs, and tickle fights. And later that day, you and Cayde cuddled the night away.

You huffed and laid your chin on his desk. Genji was always working and it wasn't even for the better. His eyes were so dark and overall, he looked like he needed a fifty year nap.

You tilted Genji's chin over so he could look at you and his gaze immediately softened.

"What?" he whispered.

"I'm tired."

"Then go to bed."

"Not without you." You sat up and moved the mask away from Genji's mouth. He hated the way his scars looked so much that he his his face even around you.

He tried to put it back on, but you grabbed his hands.

"Genji. We're both tired. Come to bed with me."

He thought about it for a minute looking between you and his computer screen. Finally, he sighed. "Okay." he said, shutting his computer.

You held Genji's hands and nearly dragged him up the stairs feeling just how tired he was due to how he was moving.

You both threw on something comfortable to sleep in and immediately wrapped each other in your arms.

"I love you, Genji." you said before bringing your lips to his.

You pulled away and noticed the huge smile across his face and he held you down on the bed and you both nearly attacked each other with kisses and giggles.

It didn't take long before you passed out in each other's arms.

Genji

Genji loves to go out, but in his Blackwatch era the days of arcade games and goofing off are at an all-time low

However, he loves to hike.

He feels in his time of getting used to a cybernetic body, he has lost touch with himself.

Being out in nature helps him find peace whereas being in Moira's lab cannot

He doesn't really camp and spend the night too often though with you he'll pack a couple hammocks and find a nice campground

He'll pull you in with him a set you in his lap and pull out a book all while having his arms around you

Occasionally if you're cuddled against his chest, he'll pull you up to kiss you, and he'll have his body cybernetics heat up to keep you warm if the day grows cold

Genji doesn't necessarily eat, but Angela made it so he's able to enjoy small amounts of food

This means S'mores!

He enjoys them, but he likes feeding you them and laughing at the chocolate and marshmallow mess on your face

you did the same to him and it was one of the first times you've heard him laugh whole heartedly and man was that a majestic feeling

On the side, another hobby he's picked up is wood carving

Genji loves to make little statues for you, whether it's of dragons or foxes and if you're lucky he'll make a little inscription

Doesn't really have technology, but he does own a Wii?

Wii sports date night with the cowboy who's weirdly good at Wii bowling

Cassidy jokingly calls himself a gamer, but even a junker with -1 braincell could see he's not

The moment you buy Mario kart Wii and beat him over and over he's on his KNEES begging to play something else

Like I said in other post, while He can't barbeque his specialty lies in making comfort foods like corn bread, BBQ beans, mashed potatoes, and a basic pan seared steak.

On days your sick he'll whip up a hot tomato bisque with some bread on the side

Cassidy would love if you'd join him in the kitchen, meal preparation is always a pain in the ass

Going out, another thing he likes to do is go to carnivals, though he hates rollercoasters of any kind

He just likes showing you all the cheats to the unwinnable games

Not because he's scared, he just gets sick on them very easy

If the day is free and slow, he's totally ok with chilling at home and holding you on the couch

Such a weeb, and you'll know it after many nights in her lab

Watches anime while doing trivial experiments or documenting her results and she'll have you right there with her

When she goes home, she takes you with her and in all honesty she way too tired to cook so expect some take-out and a bottle of wine

Dinner is usually pretty animated; home is a place where she feels open to talk to you about her frustrations and excitements and she knows you'll listen and take to heart what she says

Make-out sessions with wine-stained lips, moira's pretty saucy milf don't sass me anon

Her corrupted hand pains her though she doesn't show it in front of others

Having you near her helps distract her form the pain ahd you and turn just puts some heat packs in the microwave and hold them against her arm

Occasional affection, but not much and that mostly stems from her fear of hurting you

Once Gabe finds the spot, he finds the remnants of an old campfire and starts a fire and a couple worn plastic chairs are already set around the fire

You two are chowing down on fast food burgers and fries, and he reaches over with one arms and pulls you to his side

After finishing he puts out the fire and the stars become clearer than ever and looking over the cliff, the waves glow blue with bioluminescence

Gabriel smiles warmly at you and wraps an arm around your waist and brings his lips to yours

His kisses warm you up as the ocean breeze blows past the two of you

Genji/Reader no warnings!

You've learned it's not easy being Genji's partner.

First there's the whole Overwatch business - he's always busy, following odd hours for other timezones in order to be functional for missions, training to be at his sharpest, getting tune-ups and such from the doctor whenever something breaks (and things frequently break when you're a cyborg ninja trying to save the world). At least most of his teammates are nice to you, and you even got Lúcio's autograph to boot. Maybe next time you'll work up the courage to ask for Zarya's...

Then there's his teacher, Zenyatta. You feel like you're practically sharing Genji with him half the time, with how often they're together (though you bear it gracefully, knowing how much the monk means to him). He seems to like you well enough though, and has given the occasional word of encouragement when you aren't so certain about your relationship.

And then there's his brother.

Hanzo is, to put it frankly, pretty hard to read, and you don't actually see him too often, but the times he is around... you're not sure if he judges everyone the way he seems to be judging you, or if it's just a bad case of resting bitch face, but either way it's not the most comfortable of interactions. But you put on a smile since Genji's always around when Hanzo's around, as if perhaps he's a little worried about how Hanzo might act without him around. Or how you might act.

But the way he takes off his helmet as soon as you're alone with him, takes a deep breath and sighs in relief? That alone is worth all the trouble that comes with being his partner.

... Okay maybe it's about the kisses and the sex too. He is pretty damn good at those. They're certainly nothing to complain about, that's for certain. And there's also something to be said for the way he says your name, like he's treasuring every letter of it before it leaves his mouth. Plus those beautiful eyes, always changing colors, full of adoration when he thinks you aren't looking? Just perfect. Hard not to be absolutely smitten when he's such a gentleman at all the right moments, too.

Of course, you're smitten right now with his head in your lap, hands brushing through the short green locks whose color he maintains so meticulously. It's a wonder he can keep it so soft still with all that coloring...

Though he's half asleep it seems, he still opens his eyes when your petting pauses, bright green to match his hair looking up at you curiously. "Getting tired?"

"Hm? Oh, no. Just got lost in thought is all."

"I see. And what were you thinking about?"

You pause for a moment, then shrug a little. "Not much, really. Just about how things have been lately."

He tilts his head a little in return, closing his eyes as you return to your petting. "How do you feel about it?"

"Well... worried about Null Sector, and all the other things going on right now, but also... happy? To be with you, and knowing you and Overwatch are working hard to stop all the bad things."

A smile tugs at his mouth, a bit lopsided thanks to one of his scars, and it makes you smile a bit as well. "We are doing our best, I promise. I would spend more time with you were it not for those things..."

"I can be patient. Being a hero is hard work, I get it!"

This time Genji laughs quietly, reaching up without even opening his eyes to let his fingers graze over your cheek. You lean into the touch, sighing. Moments like these are too far apart; you have to savor every second that slips by.

"I hope it is not too much of a burden to bear."

"Of course not! I just wish I could do more for you." It can be a struggle having to sit on the sidelines while he's out there risking his neck to save people and stop Null Sector.

His fingers catch on your jaw and guide you into leaning down, close enough for an upside down kiss that you're happy to give him. Once you've had your fill you start to pull back, but his hand has you remaining close enough to feel his breath tickle your skin as he says, "This is more than enough, to have you by my side."

"Then I guess I'll just have to stay here."

Another soft kiss, and then you're free to straighten up this time, taking his hand in yours while the other returns to combing his hair. Genji has his eyes closed again, but he's smiling as he lies there and you're pretty sure he won't drift off as easily this time.

Not easy being his partner, sure. But these moments make every oddity and issue absolutely worth it.
