This wasn't a request, just something I came up with on my own to start things off. :) --- You stand from afar outside of the base, watching him. Clouds covered the sky, and snow fell from above; lightly at first, then gradually more intense. It was the first snowfall of the year, and if it kept up, it might stick. For Genji, this was his first time experiencing snow in this body. He was wearing nothing but a black hoodie over his cybernetics. This wasn't an issue for him, he normally didn't wear any clothing at all. He didn't perceive heat and cold in the same way anymore. He stretched both of his arms out and flexed his hands gingerly. In his left still flesh arm; he felt what he expected. Cold particles brushing against it and turning to water on impact, a growing feeling of numbness the longer he stood there. In his right cybernetic arm however, he only felt a muted sensation. The sensors in his arm were telling his brain that something was making contact with it, but he didn't have the same sensations of wet and numbness that his left did. He kneels down and sticks his whole right hand into the layer of snow forming at the ground and keeps it there. It is only after he doesn't pull it back out again after several minutes that you finally decide to approach Genji. "How long are you going to do that for?" you ask. He finally gets up and turns to face you. He isn't surprised by your question, he knew you were watching him the entire time. "Until I feel what I should be feeling." came the matter of fact reply. "Does it help?" you ask as he flexes his cybernetic hand several more times. He scoffs, and then suddenly grabs both of your hands and takes them into his own. You flinch and recoil from the sensation, the feeling of cold is overwhelming. Just how long had he been out here for before you found him?
He rolls his eyes, as if you had just asked a question with an obvious answer. "No, it doesn't. If I was normal, I would react as you did. But I don't feel things the same way you do anymore. I don't even feel your hands on mine the same way." You look down, unsure of what to say. Genji continues. "But that's the point isn't it? I'm not meant to feel. I was rebuilt to be a weapon. The less I feel, the easier it is to do my job." "Don't... don't talk about yourself like that, please..." you beg. It wasn't the first time he had spoken of himself like that. Every time he did, you hated it. Hated how he dehumanized himself like that. "It's the truth, and every day proves that more and more." he responds coldly. He turns and begins walking away. You stand there for a moment, then chase after him and wrap your arms around him, placing your head against the back of his faceplate. The cold metal sends chills down your spine, but you hold firm. "What're you doing?!" he demanded, but didn't move to break away. You move your right arm up and begin to stroke his hair. "Can you feel that?" you ask. "... Mostly." "And how does it make you feel?" "Embarrassed." You move your left hand over his chest, attempting to feel his heartbeat. You find it. A steady rhythm that grows faster the longer you keep your hand there. "Weapons don't have hearts, Genji. They don't have emotions. You do. That's how I know you're still human inside. That's how you know you're still human." There's a silence between you two. You move your right hand back down and place it over your left, so that both hands are now over his heart area. After a while, Genji raises his left human hand puts it on top of yours. "I feel lost." he begins; "On missions, it's easy, my anger focuses me on the task at hand. But afterwards, in the quiet, I feel like I lose a part of myself every time. Like there's nothing else." You say nothing.
He turns to face you. For the first time that day, you get a good look at his eyes. Normally Genji looked angry all the time. The red tends to do that. But when you're this close, you see something more. Pain. "Some days you're the only thing that reminds me I'm still human." he finishes. "I'll be there to remind you every day if you want me to. You're as human as I am; as anybody else here is. There's more to you than killing. You just have to find it again." That kind of just came out. You felt unsure whether that was what he needed to hear, but you notice the muscles in his face relax. "Thank you." he says quietly. You respond with a smile, but you're unable to hold it for long. The biting wind causes your teeth to start chattering. You look away, and then turn back when you hear a slight chuckle. "Did you just laugh at me?" you ask playfully. "Perhaps." he responds in kind. Your face drops into a slight pout.
"Come, let's get back inside, you must be freezing." he continues. He offers you his human arm, which you take, and he gently leads you back towards warmth. There will be other bad days, you're sure of that. But for today, you feel like you legitimately made a difference to Genji. And he's grateful for it.

Prompt: Going off of the idea that Genji doesn’t like the sound of his own voice.
Word count: 1495
Genji Shimada was a real mystery. You have been working with him for a decent amount of time now, yet he still glares at you with a gaze sharp as daggers. The very aura he gives off sends shivers down your spine in pure intimidation. Even worse, he barely utters any words around you. You would hear him utter a few scarce words to his teammates, but he has never once directly spoken a word toward you. You suppose that just came with being a member of Blackwarch, but he was near impossible to read and the lack of communication made getting close and completing missions very difficult. And yet, the mystery surrounding him made Genji all the more alluring. You wanted to get to know him, to grow close and actually get friendly with the solitary ninja. You feared he didn’t like you, but you wanted to change that. Perhaps ease the tension a little. So, during your down time between missions, you made every attempt you could to befriend Genji.
Your first attempt was trying to sit with him for lunch. It would be an easy, casual way to start up a conversation. It was then you came to realize Genji never really ate in the cafeteria with everyone else. You spent a good chunk of your lunch time trying to find him, only to find he’s been sitting on the roof with only 5 minutes left to your break. And, as luck would have it, Genji decided his lunch was up and chose to leave as you were planning how to get up there. You wound up having to eat your lunch while working and that wasn’t the most pleasant thing to do.
Your next method of attack was to team up with Genji during training. Not the best in terms of being social, but it’s a good way to strengthen your bond on the battlefield! However, Genji turned out to be quite a handful to say the least. He still didn’t talk to you and he absolutely slaughtered you. He kicked your ass so hard you’re going to feel it for weeks. You leave the training area feeling incredibly sore and Genji didn’t so much as give you a glance before up and leaving. You stared at his back as he walked away with a look of longing in your eyes. You wanted to make this work, you really did, but perhaps Genji didn’t. Maybe he was just dead set on being that silent loner. Perhaps this relationship you were striving for just wasn’t meant to be.
Then, a few days later, you were called on an urgent mission. There was a major attack on a city by Talon. The battle was expected to be gruesome, but you were ready… until you saw Genji sitting in the very same transport ship you were boarding. Your heart sunk as he shot you his usual glare, but the only available seat was right next to him. You just hoped he could tolerate your presence for the duration of the flight.
You were well into the battle when all of a sudden you were struck with an intense, burning pain. Your knees buckled, your hands moved to grip the aching area, and suddenly you hit the ground. The sound of gun shots and crashing began to fade to a frightening silence. Your vision goes black.
You aren’t sure how much time as passed, but you slowly open your eyes to find the scene from before till stayed strong. There was rubble everywhere and the sound of gunshots didn’t let up. The searing pain is back, but when you reach to apply pressure to the area you find a hand is already there. Only then do you realize Genji is right beside you. As a matter of fact, it seems he has moved you too. He had the two of you hidden behind an overturned car and he had you sitting up, resting against its side so you’d be at least a little more comfortable.
You bite your lip and wince at the pain as you grab Genji’s hand and move it from your wound so you can inspect it. Looks like you’ve been shot and you’re bleeding quite a lot. You press your hands on it to lessen the blood flow, trying your hardest not to show any weakness in front of Genji, considering he already thinks so lowly of you.
“You will be alright,” Genji says. “I called Angela. She is coming. You will be taken to safety and treated shortly.”
Your eyes light up at the sound of his voice. It was so… gentle. So soft in contrast to his hard and harp exterior. Even the gentle tremor of cybernetics on his vocal chords was like music to your ears. You’ve heard him speak before, granted, but only out of eavesdropping. Now, you get to hear his voice loud and clear and it was so worth the wait.
“You just spoke to me,” you mutter, looking completely dumbfounded.
“…Yes,” he replies. “What, did you think I was mute?”
“No! Not… exactly. You just— barely ever talk at all. And this is the first time you’ve ever spoken to me! I was starting to think that, well, maybe you just didn’t like me.”
You could hear Genji sputter a bit in shock underneath his mask.
“What? I do not dislike you at all,” he says with earnest.
“Then why don’t you ever talk to me?”
Genji goes silent. He turns his gaze away from you in what appears to be embarrassment.
“…..voice….” he whispers.
“What?”
“It’s—my voice. The way it sounds. I hate it. I try to avoid it as much as I can,” Genji says with a sigh.
“Oh,” is all you can really say in response. “But… the way you glare at me—“
“That’s just my face.”
“And you eating alone at lunch—“
“I do not want people to see my face.”
“And the training?”
“I never go easy on anybody. Didn’t the others tell you?”
You take a moment to think it all over, then let out a weak giggle, stopping only because it hurts too much.
“So that’s really it then? You just don’t like the sound of your voice?”
Genji nods.
“Well, I like it,” you comment. “Been trying so hard to hear it lately and it sounds wonderful. Such a shame for you to hide such a wonderful thing.”
You let out a grunt as another wave of pain hits you. You aren’t sure if you can stay conscious before Mercy arrives. Genji notices this and takes hold of one of your hands.
“I’ve got you,” he says softly. That was enough to keep you going.
“So… you don’t dislike me,” you start. “But do you… like me?” Okay, maybe now the shock was making you a little too bold.
You can hear the smile in Genji’s voice as he responds. “Yes,” he says. “I like you very much. I just feared you wouldn’t like me all too much. I stay distant with just about everyone I meet just to be safe.”
The grip you have on Genji’s hand weakens. You can feel the world spinning.
“I like you, I like you,” you chant in your dizzy state. “You just need to talk to me more, alright? I don’t think I can live without hearing that voice from now on.”
Genji shakes his head in whimsical disbelief.
“I will have to work my way up to speaking more. But I can try, for you.”
And with that, you were out.
You eventually come to in a white room, nestled nicely in a warm, soft bed. You must be in a med bay, safely away from the hectic battlefield. Yet, your first thought was whether or not Genji made it out okay.
You slowly rise so you’re sitting up in the bed, groaning softly at the discomfort as you were still experiencing a bit of pain. Then, you feel a gentle touch on your hand and turn to see Genji sitting beside your bed. You could tell by the look in his eyes that he was smiling.
“Hello,” he coos softly, tightening his grip on your hand. God, his voice was like butter. You wanted to wrap yourself up in it.
“Hello,” you say in reply.
“I am glad you are alright. I tried speaking to you while you were asleep. Thought it might wake you up faster…”
Oh! Well, he certainly seems to be living up to his promise to talk to you more. How sweet. You carefully inch closer to the edge of the bed so you could be closer to Genji.
“Hm, maybe that’s why I rested so well,” you say. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” Genji replies, just soft enough so only you could hear him. His voice acting like a well-kept secret between the two of you. You absolutely loved it.
| Reaper | Soldier:76 |
He loves you with all his heart; always letting you know how much you mean to him. In his line of work, he never knew if he was going to come back home from a mission, so he wanted you to know that you were his world.
You are his everything; he wouldn’t know where he’d be if it weren’t for you (most likely drowning beneath pile of paperwork and neglecting his health to distract himself from romance).
Being in a relationship with the Blackwatch commander definitely came with benefits. You were treated as an equal by the other higher-ups, soldiers were as sweet as can be to you and you were allowed to put your input when it came to missions.
The benefits of being in a relationship with Gabriel was also accompanied by a high number above your head for your life by villainous organizations that wanted the Commander to suffer.
Gabriel loved to shower you in affection; hugging you from behind as you worked, giving you kisses whenever he saw you, complimenting you on how well you looked and how you always managed to steal his breath away.
He loved taking you out on date; being able to show that he was your lover was a privilege and he took it with pride. He would take you to different restaurants, letting you lavish in the expensive life style, but he always preferred to stay at home a cook a delicious meal beside you, slow dancing in front of the fire place while soft music played in the background.
He did his best to protect you. Whenever you were assigned to a mission, he tried to talk you out of it, but soon understanding when you refused, telling you that he completely understood and that he wanted you to come home safe and sound.
He refused to show you his face, fearing that once you saw his rotting features you would see him as a monster and never near him again.
He kept you secret from Talon, making sure you were under the radar from the terrorizing group. He also never spoke word of his occupation, telling you that it was better left unsaid.
He always kept you safe, protecting you from anything that threatened you; whether it be a stranger passing by or Talon itself. He would do anything to keep you out of danger, even if it meant taking down Talon himself.
He wanted to ravish you in jewelry and pricey items, but you refused the gifts, telling him that his presence was gift enough and being near him always made you feel safe.
Reaper always surprised you with appearances; showing up out of nowhere with a bouquet of flowers in hand. He would occasionally be at your front door, but you became used to leaving your window unlocked for him whenever he wanted to visit.
You were his getaway. You were the one that made him happy and feel as if he was worth something. He wanted to show you how much you met to him, but he never found a way to express himself. He was nervous to speak of romance around you, fearing that you would change you mind of being his lover.
He loved you with all his being, whether he was dead or alive, his overwhelming feelings for you would never shift. Even though he was always one to stray away from affection, telling you that he loved you whenever he saw you was something he never forgot to do.
He was excited to have you as his lover. He had loved you dearly and when you had said yes, he was over the moon with happiness.
He cherished every moment with you. Laying in bed beside each other? It was everything to him. Seeing you laugh and smile? It was the world to him. Every moment with you was held with upmost importance.
Forehead kisses were a staple in your relationship. He loved pulling you close, his chest against yours, to press his lips to your forehead.
He loved seeing you kick ass while out on a mission; it was hard for him to hold himself back because you looked so amazing. Your clothing left nothing to the imagination, allowing you to be more agile. You looked down on your defeated enemy, your foot on their back to hold them still as your gun rested on your shoulder. You were a total badass is Jack’s eyes.
Jack loved to you to the movies, even though the whole demand for a cinema was dying out. He would always ask you which film you wanted to see and what snacks you wanted. While you watched the movie, he would pull you close, his arm around your shoulders and your head leaning against him. Occasionally he would settle for holding hands, but he loved it whenever you were pressed to his side.
Whenever you were sent on a mission that he hadn’t been assigned to, he would walk up to you before you left on the Dropship. He would cup your face and pull you into a passionate kiss that left you wanting more; “Come back to me safe so we can finish that.” He would say, sending a flirtatious wink.
He was slow with everything, making sure you were comfortable. Before your first kiss, he asked you if it was alright and waited to see if their was any hesitation. He cared about you and he wanted you to know that.
Reluctancy at it’s finest. Yes, he wanted to be in a relationship with you, but he was scared of the consequences to come. What if you found out who he truly was before he was read to explain? What if Reaper began to target you in a form of revenge? Thousands of “what ifs” flew through his mind when you first popped the question, but after a while of speaking with one another, he said yes.
He was gentle with you, afraid to hold your hand or even kiss your cheek. He didn’t want you to regret your decision.
Your happiness was his happiness; whenever he caught eye of your grin or your laughter filled his ears, he couldn’t help the small smile that crawled onto his lips.
While out on missions, he always looked after you, making sure you were covered and safe — even though you continued to tell him that you were okay on your own. He never wanted to see you slightly injured, let alone a severe wound that could possibly claim your life. He wanted to be the one to take the attacks instead of you.
Soldier: 76 was not the first to say “I love you”. He wanted to tell you how much you meant to him, but he was scared, especially being a wanted man. His heart fluttered when the words left your lips — he felt as though he were on Cloud 9.
A simple home-cooked meal shared in front of the sunset was his favorite date. He would have a bundle of flowers set in a vase in the center of the table; nothing too tall and invasive, but just enough for there to be a decoration. He always enjoyed sitting down with you, the warm glow of the setting sun caressing your skin as you chatted about your day.
Being alone with you was relaxing; no one pestering him about paperwork or going on missions. Just a calm atmosphere as you relished in each other’s company. He liked his personal space, but he couldn’t help the way his heart skipped a beat when you fell asleep leaning against him.

“(Y/N)…! Dr. Ziegler is looking for you! It’s urgent!” It was a nurse who barged into your room that let night. And even despite how late it was, you remained awake, studying your notes and using coffee to stay awake. You were a student of Swiss Doctor Angela Ziegler, learning how to preform medicine the way she does. It was something that had always fascinated you and to finally be able to work at her side was a dream come true.
You weren’t expecting the nurse to come to you so urgently. Usually if Angela needed something from you, she would call you up or tell you before hand when she needed something done. It was odd… and that’s how you know that it was actually urgent. You were quick to get to your feet, tugging on your lab coat on the way after grabbing it from the back of your desk chair on the way out. As you neared the room your mentor was in, the heavy smell of iron hung in the air. You took up a medical mask on the way in, figuring there must be an injured patient inside. A very injured one by the sound of it.
That struck a nervous cord within you. You were a trainee and haven’t worked on any big operations yet. You haven’t even practiced the procedures before. Then again, this must’ve been sudden for Angela too. And she called you for help! So without a second to waste, you turned to walk in the door only to be left frozen in a small state of shock. What had even happened?
The man was bloodied up bad, wounds covering his body. Correction, what was left of it. He was missing over 50% of his body. The only thing left was his torso, his neck and head, and his left arm. Everything else was just gone! “(Y/N)! We need to stop the bleeding!” Angela urged, quickly passing you a pair of gloves as she rushed to your side and back to get anything and everything she could to stop all of the blood.
It was then you realized the heart monitors. He was still alive? I guess the anesthesia and the morphine was helping with this- with the addition of blood transfusions- but still! How hasn’t he died from the blood loss? That must be why Angela is rushing. If there was a chance to save his life then you too would take that chance along side her teacher. You quickly slipped on the gloves and got to work along side the Swiss Doctor, doing quick work of patching up whatever was needed to be patched up.
This process took hours. Many, many long hours. But when you two were done, you got the moment to relax. The sun had came up a couple of hours ago and the both of you were running on little sleep. However, you two couldn’t sleep just yet. You had to complete the operation. You turned to Angela who threw off her gloves into the trash can and moved to the phone hanging on the wall. It sounds like she’s calling the mechanics downstairs. Did she plan to have prosthetics made?
You began to pull off your own gloves and throw them away, allowing your mind to drift into thought. Who was this man? How did he end up like this? Who caused it? What caused it? How was he brought here? How is he still alive? That last one can be answered easily. A damn miracle. He shouldn’t even be alive and shouldn’t have been when he first got here. And yet somehow, that heart monitor continues to steadily beat to its own slow rhythm.
You haven’t even been given the chance to read the records yet, though I guess now would be the time now that everything was stabilized. You straightened your coat and turned to the tablet on the counter and turned it on. It was what the doctors here used to log the patients information and their condition. Any reason they are here or any medical information on them were in the files in the system. You looked at what Angela managed to get down before she had to rush to start the operation. There wasn’t a name on here yet. There was an estimated height and eight based on what’s left of his body. Blood type as well. And then finally there was a synopsis on his current situation.
“(Y/N)? I’m going to order us a coffee to help us stay awake. The mechanics downstairs are making the parts and will ship them up here as soon as possible.” Angela spoke as she placed the phone on its hook. You carefully sat the tablet down and looked to her. “Thank you, Angelia.” A half smile tugged to your lips for only a moment before it fell as you looked to the patient. “Who brought him in here?” You spoke your curiosities out loud before looking back to Angela.
“Our Blackwatch team found him like that on a mission. They were surprised that he was alive just as we were. But I think he’ll pull through, believe it or not. With him stabilized, all we have to do is put the prosthetics in place. Then we can take him off of the anesthesia.” Angela concluded a more simplified version of their plans, though you understood every bit of it. Your training allowed you to know the specifics without being told them. “I want you to coach him through his recovery.” You froze a moment. “Me?”
Angela gave a reassuring smile. “If you are okay with it. I figured it could be another task to help you in your training and to use the skills you already know. Improve whatever you can do you can get better.” You never guided someone through recovery before. It was always Angela or some other senior doctors. But you? A trainee? It made you a bit anxious. However, she was right. It really would held you get better. A sigh left your lips, rubbing your arm. “I’ll give it a try.” Angela placed a hand on your shoulder before checking the time. “Don’t stress. You’ll do great. I’ll go get the coffee.” She patted your shoulder before exiting the room, leaving you and the patient alone.
Angela would return with the coffee a few minutes later, the two of you chatting while you enjoyed the refreshing beverage. It would be a few hours until the parts get delivered to you two, coming in boxes with labels on them. With your empty mugs discarded to the side of the counter, the two of you immediately got to work. You started with the torso and worked outwards, adding the legs and then the arm as you went along. The hard part was connecting the robotic parts to his real body to make sure everything functioned properly on command. Each wire and nerve had to be connected properly or else it may not work.
That process was even longer than the first due to having to put together the individual parts. Screwing in the bolts and fitting in the wires properly so the joints moved smoothly was the goal and hopefully, when he awakens, it’ll be exactly what they achieved. “Alright. This is where I part. I have to go tend to other patients.” Angela spoke as she handed you the tablet and picked up the empty mugs to take back with her. “Make sure you write down everything necessary when he wakes up. I believe in you, (Y/N).” Taking a deep breath, you nodded. “Right. Thank you, Angela.”
Without another word, you were left to the patient alone once again. Only difference is that your teacher wouldn’t be coming back with a mug of coffee. You sat the tablet down temporarily so you could remove the mask that pumped the gases into the man’s lungs, a slight hiss leaving the machine as it was removed. It was placed to the side as you shut off the device it was connected to. Next step? Wait.
Or so you thought. You figured it would be a few hours till he would wake up. Many many hours. But it was only about ten to twenty minutes when a hand shot up and grabbed your arm. It made you jump in surprise, dropping anything you held in your hands. There stared back soft brown hues that were wide with confusion and fear. He was awake. “Who are you?” He was quick to question, his voice hoarse from the previous damage and from not using it.

And that’s it! I may make a part two for this if you all want me to~
(lol btw this is overwatch ask anon) May I suggest a solid "reacting to their s/o having a nightmare"? The contents of the nightmare aren't super important but I just love the fluff of it. Cassidy, hanzo and maybe genji? Plus anyone else you want to add (I really liked the ashe one you included on the last one btw :] )
👍 (BTW I am adding Ashe again and soldier 76)
(Btww I have so many nightmares it's not even funny😔)
Immediately pulls you into him
He doesn't know what happened but he heard you scream and his mind just goes "protect y/n"
After he realizes what happened he'll comfort
If you can't sleep he'll tell you stories from when he was in Blackwatch or stories of Deadlock
He will make sure you comfortable before you go back to sleep
He'll even joke that he'll stay guard so no bad dreams get to you
He also has nightmares a lot
Mainly about Genji
So when he hears that you had one he goes into caring boyfriend mode
He gets you blankets, a movie, and some hot chocolate
You know comfort stuff
He will cuddle you and whispers that its okay and he's here if he feels you shivering
If your crying because of the nightmare he might panic a little bit but he handles it pretty well with more cuddles and forehead kisses
He's gotten a lot better about handling nightmares from Zenyatta
So he's got you
He'll take you outside to look at the stars and calm down
He'll also do some meditation or breathing exercises to help
If your crying he'll wipe your tears away and tell you stupid stories from when he and Hanzo were kids to make you laugh
Cause if you laugh he'll laugh and then your both giggling like psychos outside
But happy psychos
Automatically panics
If you scream he'll spring up and grab his emergency gun from under the bed
When you say it was a nightmare he'll apologize
He didn't mean to overreact :(
After he calms down he'll cuddle you and read you a book he has to help
If you cry he panics and rocks you back and forth whispering in a panicked voice "don't cry its okay"
He's trying but it's kind of hard when he's on high alert from your scream
She ALSO has an emergency gun under her pillow
When you scream she jumps up and yells "Where!?"
B.O.B also comes rushing in to see if your okay
When she sees you tear up she rushes over immediately
She hates seeing you cry and will do everything to stop it
She'll male you food or read you a book whatever you need to help calm down
If it makes you feel better she'll post B.O.B outside the room for extra measures
Whatever you need she'll get after all she leads Deadlock might as well use that title
Hope this works I'm not sure I got the personality right for hanzo but oh well I tried
