Is Lion Pink Pearl?

There is the most evidence for Lion being Pink Pearl in my perspective. The way Lion follows Steven around is reminiscent of a pearl’s demeanor. He also carries Steven’s belongings for him and will transport him on occasion. As to why Lion does not strictly obey him, it is perhaps partly because Steven is not fully Gem and Lion does not recognize him as a respected Quartz soldier, or perhaps Lion is a corrupted pearl, and hence cannot fully comprehend things since corruptions are unable to think straight because of the Diamonds’ corruption.

Pearl, of the Crystal Gems, and Lion not getting along may even have something to do with feeling challenged or insulted by another pearl because Pearl treats Lion like a wild animal. Or Lion views all pearls as equal, so they are on the same level and he does not feel the need to obey her, such as when she attempts to have Lion release the scabbard from his mouth and shooing him away.

Also, the way pearls always follow their masters around as invisible servants would explain why Lion knows about Rose’s armory and why he knew where to dig up her scabbard from the battlefield. Most likely, our Pearl was found by Rose later on and Pearl is not even aware of this Pink Pearl. Rose is  quartz soldier, so she is most likely a high enough rank to have a pearl. This would also explain why Rose’s things are in Lion’s mane, as pearls are expected to carry their master’s things.

Perhaps Lion belonged to Rose before the corruption and took a lion’s form when they were corrupted because of seeing Rose’s lions, the ones we saw in Buddy’s Book. The Heaven and Earth beetles have proven that corruptions don’t necessarily have to be large monstrous creatures. Certain forms of Centipeetle could aldo be considered proof of this.

Pearl has also demonstrated that she can hold objects inside her gem, like the police tape. If Lion’s gem is hidden in his mane, then this could be a connection that pearls have. Pearl and Lion have also both exhibited the ability to walk on water. Pearl in her temple room, Lion while transporting Connie and Steven. Pearl has also shown the ability to control sand in Gant Woman and Lion was found in the desert, surrounded by sand. Which makes sense, as pearls are formed underwater when an irritation, like a grain of sand, enters an oyster, mussel, or clam.

I didn’t expect this to be a long theory, but I kept building on it and finding more connections. I really hope this is true. Either way it’s still a fascinating theory. Wow, this is almost an essay.
