I've only had her for two days but I love her already
not 100% sure how I see her yet but this feels right for now

now I usually like to portray her with darker skin but I really wanted that strong white on black contrast and almost ghostly look for this piece
hate it when the basis of your relationship is your mutual performances and so you can never develop a genuine connection. happy fratricide friday and sibling rane saturday (i scheduled this for midnight). in other words i am going insane over this fic

i love wet drapery gah!!
my handsewn trawlerman quilt!
some wip pics and thoughts under the cut
i had never done a quilt before so this was very exciting for me
i pieced together the entire figure of the trawler man (forgot to take photos of the head with him oops) and then appliquéd the background with part scrap fabric and part sacrificial old t-shirt
i wanted to portray the two sides of the trawlerman, with both a mouth that devours and one that returns, so i hand embroidered some bones (skull, humerus, rib) on one side and added some fish beads in the other. the intent was to show the relationship between death and life in a kind of gradient, but i don’t think it quite came across. i realized too late that it should have been only five beads instead of six, but oh well
i hand-quilted the symbols from the withermark into the coat of the trawler man with a orange-brown gradient thread and did his sort of aura with the same thread but cut and matched it so the light parts would be closest to him. the river was embroidered with some purple thread because i was tired of blue at that point
bonus shot of my fabric quality control manager
I have spent my life in the shadow of this great and winding river.
I have always dwelt in the shadow of my god.
the baby carp and a big plate of the thick pancakes. I firmly believe nana glass made her and em pancakes for special occasions as a treat and that’s why she loves them so much
Carson: Are you sure, though, Shrue? I mean, how can you be certain that you had a family before last week, when Val invented them for you?
I picked a brown headed cowbird for VAL since they’re parasitic nesters meaning they lay their eggs in other birds nests
