taysway ftw eng lit exam tommorow i haven't posted at all recently due to exams but i'll be back to it right after exam season is over (which means after june D; ) i thought i'd just hop on here and have a quick monthly diarypost which is actually just a dump of my thoughts for tommorow so my exam board is eduqas and they are the Hecate of all exam boards tommorow i'm doing two 1 hour papers - one on Macbeth and one on Lord of the Flies the topics (themes/ characters) i'm revising are: Macbeth Lady Macbeth Ambition Kingship Appearance vs Reality (i have given up completely on macduff but maybe i'll attempt banquo)

i will never understand people who create drama and then act like nothing happened? like??? working on my notion set up in an attempt to try and organise myself so i can be prepared to work nonstop for the next week and catch up on all my work. i will post screenshots of my set up once it's finished!! i got my own library card and bank account yesterday!!! i'm so excited, it'll be so fun and like i'm a real adult and useful :DD being able to take out books for myself!! the bank thing is okay aswell i guess. i'm trying out adult fiction woah. the book i chose being ninth house by leigh bardugo. i'm stoked!! the sequel of ninth house and the second book in the trilogy is coming out this january and i can't wait! hopefully i'll be able to purchase both books from my local bookstore which will be super cute. i already know i'm gonna devour it in two days and then have to wait an agonising three years for the third and final book to be released D: BUT there is apparently a TV series depicting the Alex Stern series in development?? and with the second book coming out as well as the success of Shadow and Bone and it's second season i think that we'll hear more about it in 2023. so far i'm halfway through and i really love the characters of darlington and alex, when i first started reading i imagined darlington as a lot older until i heard his real name and MINI SPOILER caught the romantic implications between them. i really like how detailed and descriptive it is, however the first two chapters are quite confusing but i have discovered the amazing hack of reading the glossary and explanations at the back first. i'm gonna continue reading sooo that's all for now! how to learn new content and never forget it

save this for your next academic year and finals, and it’ll save your grades and time.

1. whenever you read a paragraph with new content, close the book/look away and ask yourself: “what have i just learned?” explaining the concept to yourself right away and asking follow-up questions will change the way you retain new material forever.

2. at first, it’ll be daunting, and it’ll be pretty hard to actually bring yourself to do this. trust me, it’ll be worth it - as this is scientifically proven one of the most effective study techniques.

3. to try this out, set yourself a timer for how long you estimate learning a concept might take. now take away 20% from that estimate. you won’t be able to reach this goal with basic highlighting and re-reading techniques - but with active recall, you will.

4. once you’ve understood the concept, use spaced repetition systems like anki flashcards to force yourself to retrieve this information in a set period of time. this way, your brain will always be reminded of this concept before it could possibly forget it.

5. teach it to others as much as you can. as with the old wisdom “see one, do one, teach one”, one of the only guarantees you’ve really gotten something is when you can effectively teach it.
