Hazel is going to work at Bletchely Park, which at the time was a workplace for british code-crackers. Daisy mentions in the Puzzle book that "theres no such thing as an extremely complex puggling machine that spews hundreds of seemingly nonsense words" which lines up pretty accuratley with the description of the Enigma Machine, a messaging device used to send top secret messages such as invasion orders, landing plans, etc. It was so important that if a german sub was sunk the captain was under strict orders to throw the device into the ocean so that the Allies couldn't get their hands on it and possibly decode the thing. Eventually one of rhe machines was retrieved in November of 1941, and the cracking of the device lines up almost perfectly with the time that Ministry 3 is set, December 1941.
It could be possible that Daisy and hAzel end up working on cracking the Enigma, and discovering all the hidden messages.
BUT THE THING IS when the enigma was cracked and all the massages were uncovered they could not be announced to the public because the Axis powers would know that their device had been decoded, so multiple invasions and attacks occurred that the British KNEW ABOUT but couldn't do a thing about. One of these attacks, was the Invasion of Hong Kong, December 1941.
(OUGH THE ANGST IM IMAGINING IS HEARTBREAKING)
