most people can only dream about having their popular ship do the classic age old romance trope of having one sick or wounded in bed whilst the other keeps watch over them......our flag means death not only did this without nuance or shame but literally had it be ED AND STEDE'S LITERAL FIRST MEETING. they don't even know each others names yet and theyre already playing into the most well known and loved romance tropes in the book. and then 5 minutes later they're wearing each other's clothes. just fucking SPEEDING through the top 100 fanfic tropes as voted by gay people everywhere. this show is truly fucking insane
