New Palestine Designs

I'm back! Turns out there was a weird glitch and my posts have been pretty much shadowbanned this past week. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed this past week and probably could not see my previous thank yous.

For those who haven't seen my posts yet, my best friend (the best person I have EVER known) is Palestinian, and a lot of his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. ALL PROCEEDS from these designs will go to helping his girlfriend afford to join him in America safely and helping his other loved ones weather the violence and financial hardship.

We're hopeful that the ceasefire will mitigate the harm being done to my friend's family going forward. He's already had some loved ones hurt that this money can help so for now I will continue the fundraising (plus we do not feel safe hoping that the ceasefire will last, unfortunately). For now his girlfriend has remained safe and financial planning for her trip here is going okay. Most of his immediate family is okay (extended family and friends not entirely so unfortunately). I will keep updates somewhat vague to protect their privacy. We greatly appreciate all your help!

I've been saving this bubble graphic for a while, I found this nice Dome of the Rock image on Pixabay and I really love how the colors work together! I think it would make a great sticker.

The Dome of the Rock is a shrine in the Al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem. It's the oldest surviving work of Islamic architecture. The iconic gold color was actually added starting in 1959, before that the dome was covered in blackened lead.

I drew a journalist for my fundraiser. I'm not very experienced at drawing people but I'm practicing, I've wanted to add a journalist for a while since they've become such an important symbol for Palestine. Found here, mostly intended for stickers.

Started this account because Redbubble wanted me to have a social media account before publishing. Trying to make designs mostly for stickers, so far this is my favorite!

As always, EVERYTHING I RAISE from my shop is for my best friend to send home to support his friends and family in Gaza, the West Bank and surrounding areas of the Levant facing collateral damage. I think his family who live in Lebanon are okay at the moment at least but the situation there is obviously pretty uncertain right now. Hoping they stay safe, he has a few people who are very important to him living around Beirut.

I still haven't been able to find the definitive origin of the quote above, Pablo Neruda seems to be the most common suggestion. Would love to know if anyone knows. I haven't posted about how he's doing in a while so here is a brief update if anyone was wondering. He's been quite miserable (more than usual even) since the escalation into Lebanon, he has family there too, but he's hanging in there. They're safe for now and we really hope the ceasefire in a couple hours actually happens and lasts. He also got injured not long after the escalation which really messed up his usual coping mechanisms (running/going to the gym), but he's recovering well now and we're at least lifting weights again. Despite the stress he's still doing impressive things with his research, and working crazy hours at it. He's supervising and mentoring several younger students on top of his own work and doing an amazing job of keeping it together for them, I'm so proud of him. He's the strongest and nicest person I've ever met and I know he's going to do amazing things with his life.
