If you romance Taash (and you should) it WILL drive you insane to think of them when Rook is in the fade prison.
They literally got into a fight with Rook before that battle JUST cause they didn’t want to lose them. So they try to not think about it.
And yet, during the battle, they cannot take it. As much as they were trying to avoid it, the thought is driving them insane, all they can do is beg Rook not to die.
And then Rook disappears.
They’re just gone.
I don’t think Taash rested for a second after. But there is also nothing they could do. They have lost literally everything in the last months and now Rook is lost as well. They don’t know anything about the fade or magic or any of that. They weren’t supposed to have to deal with it at all! They were there for the dragon stuff!
And the desperation of feeling useless and unable to do anything to get Rook back, at the mercy of Emmrich and Neve or Bellara’s expertise. Nothing to do, no one to fight, no way to make this better.
But I don’t think they lost hope for a second, I don’t think they stopped pressing and insisting that they could find Rook, that they were not gone forever. Because they asked them not to die, they begged them, and they have to come back and keep their promise.
Dear everyone who is currently working on a Thing, whatever that Thing may be,
Good luck with the Thing. You can do the Thing. You will do the Thing. You just have to do the Thing.
Best wishes,
Someone who is also doing a Thing
Taash’s introduction is so much funnier when you remember that they have NO idea who Rook is
Rook literally rocks up in the middle of their work and is all, “Hey, nice to meet you, can’t wait to work together :)” and Taash is just ?????
They have no idea where this clown came from mid job or why Rook thinks they’re working together. Who is this rando? Did the lord’s hire them? Taash has done this job some many times before, why would they need help now?
Rook then proceeds to immediately step on Taash’s hot Qun button and it’s amazing they don’t just get punched.
Then it turns out that Rook is their new boss! That their mother hadn’t bothered to tell them about!?
Absolutely wild from their perspective
TAASH: Can Ativan Crows eat meat?
LUCANIS, patiently: We’re not actually birds, Taash.
TAASH: I thought maybe you had to stay light, to do all the flips and shit.
LUCANIS: …
Anyway I had a dream last night that there was a part in the Taash romance where they decided that the Veilguard wasn’t killing enough gods. They asked Rook to go scrounge up an extra god to take down. Why limit ourselves to two, after all?? My Rook was very amenable to the request!
I didn’t even question that this isn’t canon for a good half hour after I woke up
DAV is about trauma, bonds, and the importance of found family. It's not about Rook having a harem.
If you're unable to see adults work through their issues like people with emotional maturity beyond what a teenager would have (don't you even start if you're gonna throw shade at Taash) and have that make sense to you-- get therapy.
That's not an insult. Like, therapy helps you navigate your own emotions. How to support other people's emotions. How to see value in your beliefs even if they don't quite make sense to you. Even if you've been hurt. It's about everyone bringing uniqueness and value to a team through only what THEY can offer.
It's okay to have phobias. It's okay to be angry. It's okay to see a different future than what you thought was set out for you. It's okay to claim a new identity for yourself. To fight for family and subsequently let them go even when you don't want to. To accept familial trauma and move to change it. To let yourself be vulnerable and accept love, even if you're scared of losing it.
Get the fuck over book club and realize that is a throwaway joke to make you laugh at how goofy the companions can be. Jesus.
I'm having So much fun with the colorblind challenge
Like the writing was really good in this game and it’s so frustrating watching people be like “I didn’t get special attention from a character because it’s not a perma horny game so writing baaaaaaaaaaad”
Characters are allowed to be characters. To be fleshed out and have fulfilling relationships outside 'you' the player. I know, we love our blorbos and whatever...but it's not that deep.
Maybe Rook is too distracted to actually put real bonding time into their romantic relationships. Maybe Rook being a boss is an intimidating power dynamic that makes their partner hesitant. Maybe connections are stronger with other people.
I'll just say, the way I connected with my first ever GF, is very different from how I interact and connect with my partner NOW. What is okay with one partner, doesn't mean it'll be okay with the next. The jokes, physical connections, and love languages all have grown and shifted. That's how relationships work.
Some of ya'll really need to understand relationships are complex. And that BioWare doesn't have it out personally for you because so and so companion didn't fall to their knees in co-dependant agony worshiping your Rook.
