Guys I found the cutest Percabeth tiktok (classicalgreeklaserguns and ashlee.tayla)
Ares saying he hates his own kids and the worst day of the year is when they visit him makes my heart break for Clarisse more. Clarisse fights so hard for scraps of her father’s attention and Ares sees her as just another nuisance. He doesn’t care about her unless she’s able to serve him. But Clarisse (like Annabeth) thinks she just has to work harder for him to love her. In her mind, it’s all her fault. Which is why she is so angry when little punk Percy strolls in at twelve years old, no training and unclaimed, and immediately defeats the minotaur. In three days hes already got the gods attention and his father claimed him. Of course she’s angry.
Suzanne collins wrote a trilogy where a main media propaganda strategy was to market a horrific act of violence as a love story to distract ppl and then it got adapted into a box office breaking movie and ppl made it all about the love triangle. so then since they didn’t get the point the first time Suzanne collins wrote a prequel story about the main dictator and she makes it so that you as a reader want it to be a genuine love story so badly even tho it’s so very clearly not and instead feels extremely unsettling to make her point even more meta which then gets adapted into another box office breaking film and now ppl are making romantic snowbaird tik toks. do u think she’s gonna write another book that’s somehow even more blatant or just give up and start executing ppl? hard to say but I wouldn’t blame her for the second one
Something that is confusing me is how many people are defending the changes Rick made and defending Rick himself in regards to the show.
He lied to us.
He got the entire fandom to hype up the show, got the show made on the basis of getting a book accurate adaption. This was supposed to be something accurate to the books, including the book characters, the book scenes, the book stakes- we were supposed to get to see our favorite moments in the books on screen.
And then he went and rewrote the book.
This adaption isn't the book we read. The characters aren't the characters we read. Grover's personality was wholesale replaced. This is something entirely new-
And whether you like it for itself is a different matter entirely, but the point is that... this isn't The Lightning Thief that we read years ago.
He lied to us.

“ B*tch, this is France. ”
never a lukabeth(?) shipper because gross and not why annabeth loves luke at all but the LACK of relationship exposition between the two of them in the show is PISSING me off genuinely. luke and annabeth's relationship is CRUCIAL to the conflict Luke has with the gods and his subsequent redemption, as well as the entire driving force for book 3,4, and 5. it was a relationship that percy was jealous of, not simply because he liked her romantically but because it was a side of Annabeth that he never got to see and a type of bond that he never had with her, despite going through so much together.
letting Luke say "oh Annabeth and I are like family" and then never even let them interact with each other makes absolutely NO SENSE. this lack of relationship exposition between the two of them completely takes away Annabeth's emotional investment when facing Hermes and explaining May's curse. its PAINFUL for her to talk about them because it PAINS Luke and she can TELL.
if you're not gonna build up their relationship, why do we waste precious screen time with Hermes and make the Lotus Casino Scene so... meh??? When it could have been fun and whimsy and silly and the kids can take a shower and hear some weirdo say groovy and realize gambling is a trap!!!??
It also robs Annabeth of such character depth in PAINS ME. shes just a girl. shes awkward and have crushes and is emotional and is scared of losing people she loves. shes not just "six step ahead of everyone child soldier prodigy" MY GOD.
and of course i love seeing percabeth on my tv but dear LORD having luke say "youre like an old married couple" is SO OUT OF CHARACTER and to have Annabeth not even respond flustered or embarrassed?????? ITS THE SLOW BURN OF THE CENTURY I DO NOT NEED YOU TO HAMMER IT INTO MY HEAD THAT THEYRE MARRIED AT 12. I FIGURED THAT OUT WHEN HE SACRIFICED HIMSELF TWICE FOR A GIRL HE JUST MET.
you know what would have been a real power move? if rick had kept the whole ‘words have meaning’ thing going. with the gods being all over the place in hoo, it would be even more important not to say their names in order not to attract their erratic energy
also the ‘numbers have meaning’ thing. the ‘only three people may go on a quest’ rule. the only time it comes into play is when the group is too big in ttc, and sure enough, bianca and zoe die. i’m pretty sure they even say that the number five is weird at one point.
the prophecy of the seven being the prophecy of the seven should have been an indication that, from the beginning, it was a near impossible quest. a suicidal mission. it should have been an indication of how, even after the gods pledge to try to be better to their kids, they don’t have any problems with a prophecy that should kill four out of seven demigods, if the number three were to be respected.
this tension builds throughout hoo. they’re trying to pull off this intercontinental stunt with no help, feeling more abandoned than ever, and they can’t even shit talk their unfairness in fear of retaliation for saying their name. this all culminates in the climax of the last book, when for the first time in heroes of olympus we hear demigods say a god’s name not in whispers, but at the top of their lungs: it’s when jason and percy march into battle together, having managed not to kill each other, mending the rivalry not only between jupiter and poseidon (if briefly) but also between camp jupiter and camp half blood. so they call out their parents because it’s finally safe. and that’s how the battle against gaea is won - demigods and gods seeing eye to eye for once, fighting a battle bigger than their flaws
"i cant watch shows about fantasy kingdoms without thinking about how they should be abolishing the monarchy" that my friend sounds like a skill issue

I hate when I tell people I like the hunger games and then their immediate reaction is “team gale or team peeta?” Like what. Team paying attention to the main point of the book which is an extremely moving comment on society and the world we’re heading towards, on classism and the patriarchy and the government and all the evils that go on in the world with the privileged turning a blind eye. On death and suffering and cruelness just because we can. On being corrupted by power on everything being unfair, on our minds and how they shape the world and our minds and how they can change the world and the good and bad and love and hate and brainwashing and revolution. But sure, team peeta.
Ironic that here you can know more about me than anywhere else. (English isn't my first language, sorry for any mistakes.)
