just some reminders for people who are writing IDs:
do not put judgements in your ids. do not say "it needs to be noted the character looks extra adorable here" do not say "an ugly person" or "a hilarious meme" or anything like that. we don't need you to tell us how to feel about something.
do put descriptive words and adjectives. "a crudely drawn image" or "a painting of a scarlet colored apple" or "a person with large hands". we do need you to tell us descriptors so we have context.
do not type words incorrectly. do write words exactly as they appear in the image.
let me say that again: EXACTLY as they appear. is the word capitalized? capitalize it. is the word "yes" written with 3 s's? write it in the description as "yesss" not as "yesssss" or "yes". are the words in all caps? write them in all caps, or write "text in all caps says" and then include a lowercase version. is a word misspelled? spell it exactly the same way. if the image says "washning mashing" it should not be written as "washing machine"*
*you can definitely say "the words 'washing machine' are misspelled as 'washning mashing'," just make sure that you do include the exact transcription in your description
disabled people, people with screen readers, and ANYONE else who uses IDs to interpret images deserves to interpret the image as accurately as possible, and its important to transcribe and describe things properly and without judgements added.

No, this is not a joke. This is not a stretch of the imagination. And no, I’m not putting a read-more on this post because it deserves a full look-through. This is happening in Lithuania, right now, where Netflix has turned a former Nazi prison into a Stranger Things themed hotel.
Yes, you read that right. Just a quick Google search will confirm its existence. The Lukiškės Prison in Vilnius, Lithuania is a former Nazi prison. In a country that already tries to erase it’s involvement with the Holocaust (I’m still talking about Lithuania), this offense is particularly egregious.
Here’s the change.org petition that @chaosklutz sent me that first alerted me to this abhorrent, insensitive bullshittery: https://www.change.org/p/hold-netflix-and-stranger-things-accountable.
Copy-pasted below is the description from the petition.
It has come to the attention of the Jewish and Rroma community that the new season for Stranger Things was filmed in the Lukiškės prison in Lithuania. Though having functioned as a prison centuries before, it became notorious during WWII for it’s Nazi involvement and the kidnapping, imprisonment, and torture of about 100,000 Jews, Rroma, and political prisoners.
To make matters worse, Stranger Things and Netflix have both agreed to turn Lukiškės into a fully functioning hotel, ran by Airbnb, where visitors can spend the night in themed cells, tour the Stranger Things themed building, and make waffles. The price ranges from about €104-114 a night and it was said to start it’s function June 4th.
Fans of Stranger Things are now getting numerical tattoos on their arms because they are inspired by the show, the Stranger Things Instagram has even reposted photos their fans have submitted; thus encouraging their behavior. Not only does this mock the shared trauma of the Jewish and Rroma community, but it further desecrates the living memories of Holocaust survivors (a significant portion are alive today) and their descendants.
Lithuania is already known for their outright denial of their participation in the Holocaust and their allyship with the Nazis. Lithuania turned Seventh Fort, a concentration camp responsible for one of the worst mass killings in Lithuanian history, into a wedding venue. A Nazi prison where Jews, Rroma, and political kid prisoners were kidnapped, starved, imprisoned, and tortured is now a wedding venue.
We refuse to let this continue.
We, Jews and Rroma, call you to sign this petition and hold Stranger Things and Netflix accountable for their Holocaust erasure. Money earned from this season should be put back into the Jewish and Rromani communities of Lithuania as reparations for the damage this season is causing and a public apology from Airbnb, Netflix, and Stranger Things should be issued immediately with a full understanding as to how this adds to the erasure of the victims of the Holocaust and the ongoing persecution of Romani communities. We also demand the immediate shut down of the Airbnb.
We will not be erased. The Holocaust is not for the entertainment industry to build wealth off of and turn into theatre. It is our genocide and for Rroma it is ongoing.
We hope to reach out to current Jewish and Rroma communities in Lithuania in hopes of help for accountability. Either way, sharing this petition, signing it, and donating to the Jewish and Romani organizations and charities below would be a great help! Thank you!

This kind of behavior is utterly disgusting and those at fault need to be held accountable. If your blood isn’t boiling after reading about this, read again.
I hate how white people invented the we don’t owe each other anything mindset
well you are already doing a lot better than most cis people by being willing to listen, so i wouldnt say your dumb, just uninformed for the moment (trust me theres a big difference). and yeah, i do think rock means well, i just think he also doesnt completely care enough to do enough research. so thank you so much for listening and wanting to learn! and yeah, absolutely, any other genderfluid people who wanna weigh in, i certainly dont speak for everyone, if someone else begs to differ, please join in the convo
im actually not a big fan of alex fierro, or at least how dear old rickald wrote her. im genderfluid, and i have some other nb and genderfluid friends, and shes such a caricature of how an actual genderfluid person acts. i like her as a concept, but as with everything rickald does, the execution was absolutely terrible. just thought i would put that out there (not trying to be rude, if im being rude im sorry)
oh! no you’re not being rude don’t worry!!! i’m not trans myself, and i don’t know the extent of how badly trans folks are treated, but i do know that y’all face a lot of hardships and discrimination. i was so happy when rick introduced a genderfluid character, it actually helped me learn a little more about trans issues and identities and stuff cuz i did some research after reading. i didn’t know she was written like a caricature, likely because of my own ignorance as to what it’s like to be genderfluid. thank you for telling me this. i do think that rick did a good thing in introducing a genderfluid character, but if the way he did it is offensive to trans folks, i won’t talk over y’all. would you mind telling me specifically what’s wrong with alex’s character portrayal? not trying to sound like an idiot, but i don’t particularly understand your stance. but i want to!! you don’t have to explain but it’d be cool if you did, i’d like to know more so i can identify stuff like this in the future !! (also thank you so much for this ask, i really appreciate it!!!)
Hey reblog this post to give the person you reblogged from gender euphoria
Hey, its Australia day! Aka the day a bunch of English arrived in Australia and began two centuries worth of genocide and cultural erasure.
In honour of Australia day, do you wanna help some indigenous people reclaim rightful ownership of their unceded lands?
So whenever your disability pride flag is shared on tiktok, ive noticed people asking why do disabled people need a pride flag, or saying that we dont deserve one because we are "co opting" the gay pride movement... and i am honestly at a loss at what to say to them
Okay, then: here's some Disability Pride Talking points for you, when you come upon that assumption:
First: The Disability Rights Movement gained steam in the U.S. at the same time as the Civil Rights Movement was advocating for racial equality, and the Women's Rights movement was advocating for gender equality -- all in the same decade as the Stonewall Riots.
Second: it may seem like Disability Pride Month is "copying" Queer Pride Month, because July comes right after June. But the reason we celebrate Disability Pride Month in July is because that's when The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed: on July 26, 1990. This was the first Disabilities Rights act in the world. It was followed in 1995 by the Disabilities Discrimination Act in the U.K., and in 2019 in Canada.
Third: on April 5, 1977, the (American) Nationwide 504 Sit-in (Wikipedia article) began, to protest the fact that three presidents in a row had been stalling for four years to implement Disability Civil Rights legislation. Disability advocates staged sit-ins in Federal Buildings for the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, and Seattle, San Fransisco, and Washington D.C..
The sit-in in Washington D.C. lasted 28 hours. The Sit-in in San Fransisco lasted 25 Days, and remains the longest occupation of a Federal Government building in U.S. History (It was epic). The civil rights group The Black Panthers also helped with logistical support.
The police tried to force the people inside to leave by cutting phone lines, forgetting that there were people who knew American Sign Language both inside the building, and outside, in the crowd, and they relayed messages back and forth through the windows (excuse me while I take a Cackle break).
Finally: Disabled people are human beings, and deserve all the human rights as everyone else. But a lot of people in authority, look at our lives from the outside, decide that we already have a low-quality of life (without actually asking us), and deciding that it wouldn't be so bad if we died. You know, at the start of the COVID-19 outbreak in this country, it was a fairly common policy that if hospitals ran low on ventilators, they'd just take them from disabled people who needed to use them every day? Remember that?
That's why we have to get loud.
Pip, they/them, nonbinary, panromantic, greysexual. This is sort of a junk blog, but its also my main one. I really use @woodwind-goddess so you should head over there
