As promised, here’s all of my recreated Steven Universe outfits for everyone to use in Animal Crossing. I hope other fans enjoy these as much as I do! Quick note: The bottom two are a little different from the rest. I wanted to do something else other then make Steven’s jacket normally since everyone else has already done that. Instead I tried the design on a hat and it’s now my favorite thing to wear in game. The Rose hoodie is a mash up of Steven’s jacket and Rose’s gem and shield design and I love how it turned out.
Toph’s Family
I love Cassandra so freakin much
I think I love her
If I had a nickel every time my favorite character in a show was a blind fighter who can "see" with other senses and can tell when someone's lying, I'd have 2 nickels which isn't much but weird that it happened twice.
* so stay determined, okay? because someone really cares about you.
(( I wasn’t going to upload any of my own art until guest artist week was over, but to the person who really, really needed a hug today – and to anyone who needs a hug – I hope this finds you well! ))
yo, okay, so, after Prickly Pair, im 99% sure that not only is corrupted steven going to happen, the gems aren’t going to be able to talk him down. they’ll try, but much like they did in this episode, they’ll get (emotionally) pricked and slammed into a wall.
it’s going to be the humans, specifically, connie and greg.
steven seems to be putting a lot of pressure on himself specifically when it comes to the gems; his expectation of himself to be ‘needed’ and to help everyone really seems to come from his time with them; which, while obviously not intentional on the gems part, has undeniably at this point messed steven up.
there’s also the matter of his strong emotions are sending him spiralling into his gem powers- out of touch with his human half.
so, when inevitably, steven says ‘oh wyrm’ and becomes corrupted, i think the people who will need to convince him to let everyone else in will be connie and greg.
why connie?
in the main series, connie really has been a grounding force in steven’s life. from teaching him more about his gem powers through fusion, standing beside him in battle, and by being with him during his Not Fun Time in homeworld, she’s always helped to carry him through the rough times. sometimes literally!
AND THEN THERE’S MINDFUL EDUCATION.
”But it’s okay to think about it!” “You have to be honest about how bad it feels so you can move on!”
these two lines alone from that scene really are what steven needs to hear right now. he needs to be reminded of what he’s learned, how far he’s come, and how letting his emotions out healthily is okay.
why greg?
he’s the only parental figure who HASN’T done the above-mentioned ‘problem shoving’. he’s always been there for steven, and has only told stories of his past to steven when steven explicitly asked for them.
what really solidified it for me was Bluebird, when instead of forcing steven to save him, greg dealt with the problem himself:
in doing so, he took responsibility for his OWN distress, and didn’t force steven to step in for him. he made his own sacrifice. this is really important, as the problem in Prickly Pear really seemed to come down to role models, with how steven ended up being a bad one to his creation, and greg is an absolutely stellar example of one in steven’s life.
greg universe has always done the best he can as steven’s father, often being the person steven turns to whenever the gems are having issues. it would make sense both in terms of character, and thematically, for him to be one of the catalysts for finally cracking steven’s tough outer shell.
in conclusion:
yo real quick not to Undertale Theorize On Main Again but can we talk about how Asriel obviously admires and looks up to Sans in spite of all of Flowey’s “smiley trashbag” complaints
Flowey says he’s lost to Sans who knows how many times, which means he’s seen how he acts in a fight A LOT and probably sees him as the strongest monster in the underground
so when you’re fighting Asriel, he’s childishly mimicking Sans’ expressions and detached attitudes, just like how little kids copy their idols, or like how when playing and roughhousing they might imitate the Big Bad Villain or Super Cool Hero they saw in their video games and cartoons
Flowey hates Sans, but only because Asriel sees him as that obnoxiously-difficult-but-super-cool final boss, so he imitates him when HE’S the final boss because That’s How Cool Final Bosses Act, and I think that’s beautiful
legit though this game’s writing is so absurdly good; it doesn’t TELL you Asriel is childish, it SHOWS you, and it only becomes obvious when you look at it later cuz in the moment, the first time, you’re totally brought into Asriel’s imagination for that final battle
