Happy new year! This was supposed to be finished about a week ago but what can you do with holiday timetables ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So I finally watched the hot mess that was Miracle Queen! And as everyone knows at this point, when canon goes off the rails I like trying to fix it with the Mentor AU. We usually focus on Justice For Adrien but this time I really felt Marinette was the one hard done by, so what better time to finally introduce her to Bridgette?

Bri and Felix were on their way home from a pleasant weekend in London when they ran into Fu at the station, and despite backing Fu’s mentoring choices for years (while ignoring all Felix’s complaints about what they went through as Miraculous holders) Bri absolutely lost it when he explained his tactical exit and how it included dumping the Miracle Box on Ladybug before leaving her to figure things out. She wasn’t too attached to this new kid but bugs have to look out for each other, and Bri knows bad mentorship when she sees it! Someone has to keep responsible tabs on things now!!

Felix is just trying to stop anyone getting detained by Eurostar security for assault. Bri is difficult to hold on to even at the best of times, let alone when she’s trying to brawl with a frail elderly man in the middle of a train station. It’s better to redirect this energy into getting home to Paris and addressing this mess like the capable adults these children need!

,,,,,, so yknow how kageyama sucks at compliments,,,, and hinata thrives off praise and often looks for his approval,,,,, which leads to a lot of funny haha moments but like. what if,,, what if it actually became a problem at some point ,,,, like one day, for some reason, hinata's mood & energy at practice starts getting lower each day. and he seems uneasy & stuff. and the guys start to notice its worse when he's around kageyama, so they ask if something's going on between them and Kageyama's like "of course not lmao everythings fine what r yall on about". until at some point it gets too much and hinata ends up telling him he thought the reason kageyama never complimented his abilities was bc he thought hinata sucked and was gonna drop him. which leads to an Emotional Team Speech and to kageyama having to learn how to express himself a bit more explicitly cause apparently calling hinata a dumbass wasn't gonna cut it anymore

Once you’ve looked over all those cool links, I have some general advice for you on how you can have some sort of support system going for you:

Reasons to move out of home

You may decide to leave home for many different reasons, including:

wishing to live independently

location difficulties – for example, the need to move closer to university

conflict with your parents

being asked to leave by your parents.

Issues to consider when moving out of home

It’s common to be a little unsure when you make a decision like leaving home. You may choose to move, but find that you face problems you didn’t anticipate, such as:

Unreadiness – you may find you are not quite ready to handle all the responsibilities.

Money worries – bills including rent, utilities like gas and electricity and the cost of groceries may catch you by surprise, especially if you are used to your parents providing for everything. Debt may become an issue.

Flatmate problems – issues such as paying bills on time, sharing housework equally, friends who never pay board, but stay anyway, and lifestyle incompatibilities (such as a non-drug-user flatting with a drug user) may result in hostilities and arguments.

Your parents may be worried

Think about how your parents may be feeling and talk with them if they are worried about you. Most parents want their children to be happy and independent, but they might be concerned about a lot of different things. For example:

They may worry that you are not ready.

They may be sad because they will miss you.

They may think you shouldn’t leave home until you are married or have bought a house.

They may be concerned about the people you have chosen to live with.

Reassure your parents that you will keep in touch and visit regularly. Try to leave on a positive note. Hopefully, they are happy about your plans and support your decision.

Tips for a successful move

Tips include:

Don’t make a rash decision – consider the situation carefully. Are you ready to live independently? Do you make enough money to support yourself? Are you moving out for the right reasons?

Draw up a realistic budget – don’t forget to include ‘hidden’ expenses such as the property’s security deposit or bond (usually four weeks’ rent), connection fees for utilities, and home and contents insurance.

Communicate – avoid misunderstandings, hostilities and arguments by talking openly and respectfully about your concerns with flatmates and parents. Make sure you’re open to their point of view too – getting along is a two-way street.

Keep in touch – talk to your parents about regular home visits: for example, having Sunday night dinner together every week.

Work out acceptable behaviour – if your parents don’t like your flatmate(s), find out why. It is usually the behaviour rather than the person that causes offence (for example, swearing or smoking). Out of respect for your parents, ask your flatmate(s) to be on their best behaviour when your parents visit and do the same for them.

Ask for help – if things are becoming difficult, don’t be too proud to ask your parents for help. They have a lot of life experience.

If your family home does not provide support

Not everyone who leaves home can return home or ask their parents for help in times of trouble. If you have been thrown out of home or left home to escape abuse or conflict, you may be too young or unprepared to cope.

If you are a fostered child, you will have to leave the state-care system when you turn 18, but you may not be ready to make the sudden transition to independence.

If you need support, help is available from a range of community and government organisations. Assistance includes emergency accommodation and food vouchers. If you can’t call your parents or foster parents, call one of the associations below for information, advice and assistance.

Things to remember

Concept: Atsushi and Kouyou have more in common that Kouyou and Kyouka.

Kyouka’s not a flower born into darkness. She had parents who loved and cared for her until they died to save her. She wasn’t even in the Port Mafia for that long. She was born into the light and then dragged into darkness and despair.

You know who was born into darkness? Atsushi.

The headmaster said what he did to Atsushi compared to what his parents did to him as a baby doesn’t even count as abuse. Atsushi was thrown out, literally and probably never received genuine kindness in his life until meeting Agency.

Atsushi’s living proof that those who were born into darkness can thrive in life.

Hell when Dazai’s telling Kyouka that the shit you do in the past doesn’t determine who you are now. The person he uses as an example to that is Atsushi.

There’s some bizarre kind of understanding between Atsushi and Kouyou at the end of that episode (season 2 episode 5) and I love it.

Kouyou is convinced that Kyouka is her mirror image. I get that with their abilities and circumstances. But Kouyou might have more in common with the one she was trying to keep Kyouka away from.

The same person she trusts to keep Kyouka safe.

And if this concept is interesting to anyone I did write a thing about it a while back. It’s To be burned in light is a oneshot where Atsushi promises Kouyou that the light won’t burn Kyouka.

Because it burned him too, and he won’t let the same happen to Kyouka. And just the two of them realising their more alike then they’d believe.

The cats see humans as werid helpless kittens but it's Atsushi and the Agency.

He goes and hunts em all food. Turns into a tiger and carries Kenji back to his dorm after he falls asleep.

He's dragged Kunikida by the collar once the Agency closes so he doesn't spend all night in there.

He loves em but he also doesn't trust em to take care of themselves.

The Agency know Atsushi's settled in when they find him sat ontop of the fridge eating chazuke in the dark with his eyes glowing at 4am.

This.....this means a lot as a Starscream fan.

as a Starscream fan, i feel like the portrayal of his abuse has… only gotten worse in recent adaptions?

like… if we look at G1, we can tell that the cartoon does not go out of its way to represent Megatron’s (and a few others) mistreatment of Starscream as abusive, controlling, or similar. and it was probably not their intent at all (because really, it’s a Saturday morning cartoon made to sell toys), so they just balanced out the dynamic by making Starscream outwardly power-hungry, greedy, vengeful, and “just as bad as Megatron”.

and although it still isn’t okay, it wasn’t as much fetishization of their dynamic as much as just a reoccuring joke of “Starscream tries to usurp Megatron, Megatron beats him”. it’s obvious that the way Megatron treats Starscream affects him heavily by the behaviors he displays, but it wasn’t really intended to be seen as such. 

but much of the fandom rightfully found the treatment of Starscream (as a character generally) to be unfair, and thought that the abuse he endured being swept under the rug further damaged his potential as a character, as the writers for the shows and comics couldn’t see how the way others treat him is awful and affects him deeply. (warning for read more: contains descriptive and heavy elements of abuse, please read with caution)

Suddenly the sound detector picked up on a low frequency. Jamie’s eyes widened. Something was coming directly towards him – and coming fast. “Oh gods, oh gods, uh.” Jamie’s hands fluttered in the air. He wasn’t wearing Frostbiter’s bracelet. He didn’t know whether to reach for his camera, or grab his gear and bolt, or lie down and give up, and his window of opportunity was closing by the second. The entity decided for him, picking up speed as it barrelled straight at him. Camera it was then. If he was going to die, then he would die vindicated.

Carny voice: Get ya OTNWAS Spinoff Ghost-Hunter Jamie one-shot here! We got ya ghost hunting shenanigans, we got ya 18 year old Jamie being a badass, we got ya healthy dose of Hijack. We even got a Percy Jackson-esque fight! But most importantly, we have a story about two big brothers and their little light.

This fic started off jokey-jokey but quickly ran away from me and got really sentimental. And long. I’m happy with how it turned out! I highly recommend that you read OTNWAS ahead of this, but it should be accessible to new readers too! Thank you to @jjackfrost for writing the OG parent fic, beta-ing, and helping patching up that massive plot hole!
