Oroville Dam Repairs, Monday

. Oroville Dam water releases to be reduced today. Outflow reduced to zero. This will allow crews to work at the foot of the dam for debris removal. ABC10 News, 4:40 am PST.

The work is a necessary and required repair that Oroville Dam needs due to the tremendous rains recently experienced. The bottom of the spillway needs this from the previously large water releases due to the recent rains.

Check these photos of the Oroville Dam and both spillways. They are revealing to the nature of the powerful force unleashed by dam waters.

The recent February rains caused so much flooding of the Feather River that the incredible amounts of water reached the top of the highest dam in America, at 901’. Officials increased the flow into the main Spillway from about 50,000 CFS to 100,000 CFS Sunday, to release full Lake Oroville waters, but that wasn’t enough.

Flooding occurred on Sunday in the Emergency Spillway, which was damaged, and DWR issued an evacuation notice to 188,000 residents of the Oroville Dam downstream area. Many were given the 1 hour notice.

Roads were packed, to the Evacuation Centers that had been set up. Residents exhibited extreme patience as numbers felt the crunch in leaving so quickly.

Where does it all go?

    I know where it goes, I spent it. But it’s not my fault that I don’t have savings. I know I’ve tried to in the past, I can only hope that I will be able to in the future. The future isn’t as bright as my past future’s hopes were. Pressure comes from somewhere. I have only myself to consider, myself to cook and clean for, myself to console at night, to tell myself that the days ahead are going to be better, and myself to worry over. And not to lose faith in others, I must think of them as well. With no one to help me along, I must act as friend to myself, the one who watches over my small income, and my health, all of which to this point are going well. So buck up, me, I’m doing okay.
